Hi everyone, Nicci (aka NicciDotCA) here.

I am beyond happy to welcome you all to my version of WONDERLAND! Yes, Wonderland 🐇💙🌹
This release has been slowly coming together in my imagination since my very first release with PaperArtsy. Actually, if you look closely, there is a hint within all of my past 5 releases to let you know that this particular design set was on the horizon 🥰

‘Alice in Wonderland’ reminds us that life is an adventure of impossibilities, including many rabbit holes that we may fall into, adapt and climb back out of. It is a story that holds deep meaning for me, even before I realized that it did. ‘Which way should I go from here?’ ‘Well that depends on where you may want to end up, dear Alice’ (paraphrasing, of course 😉)

Price: RRP €23.00 +VAT    Size:5" x 6" (13 x16.5cm)
All stamps are individually trimmed onto cling foam with a laminated storage/index sheet.

 UNLOCKING THE ADVENTURE
This is the fun and highly textured cover of my latest art journal, or maybe we can call this one more of a sculpture piece. You will see why when I turn the pages in the video that will accompany this blog post below.

Here we see a coffee painted Alice through a rusty gilded keyhole frame. She has been embellished with a gold sparkle pop pen as well as with PaperArtsy’s rusting powder. I just think she looks delightful, don’t you?

In this photo, I just love the colour contrast from the reds, to blues, to browns. Between the colours and the two fabulous stencilled backgrounds, I find that it gives strength to our Alice and just begs for you to open the cover of this journal.

CREATING YOUR OWN WONDERLAND WITH RAINBOWS 🌈

In this second sample, I wanted to show you how you can easily use PaperArtsy stamps in my ‘Create Your Own Wonderland’ working journal. It is filled with Alice in Wonderland themed prompts and product test pages! This book is a fun pairing for this stamp and stencil release and I therefore jumped at the chance when PaperArtsy asked me if I wanted to release a set like this one. I am one happy lady!

On these pages, I created a base layer with fresco finish paints, scraped over with a layer of white and then depicted a shrinking Alice using both of the Alice stamps along with the ‘drink me’ and ‘eat me’ elements. Our fun toadstool 🍄 really helps showcase her size.

By not colouring in the stamps on this sample, it lets you see all the wonderful detailed line work that PaperArtsy can achieve in their rubber stamps. They can be so delicate and lovely on their own or embellished with a fabulous array of colour schemes. You can easily push them as far as you imagine.

I HAVE A QUEEN IN MY POCKET
A good story always seems to need a ‘villain’ and what better place to keep her than on a small tag tucked away safely in a pocket?

Here I placed our Queen of Hearts on a gel printed background. Her imagination is so strong that she seems to be playing chess at the same time that she has a card game going on…. All be it that it seems to be a stacked deck of ‘ace of spades’….lol.

For the text stamp, I decided that I did not want it to be bold and therefore used a white ‘puff’ embossing powder. The texture is divine.

AN INVITATION TO PLAY CROQUET

Imagine you collect your mail and find an invitation to play croquet with the Red Queen in Wonderland? What would you wear to a game like that? Lol 😂

For our party invite I layered up a few pieces of paper. The bottom layer is a stamped and embossed piece of card stock. The middle layer is a gelli plate print using stencil PS380. Topped off by our fabulous flamingo, once again painted with black coffee and embellished with a gold sparkle pen.

Here you can see a closeup of our background, painted with fresco finish paint, stamped with the fun border from ENB16 and sprinkled with a dash or two of PaperArtsy Infusions.

 HAPPY UNBIRTHDAY
I was thinking 🤔 about how fun it would be to celebrate an un-birthday every day. If you are a card maker and make more cards than you ever give out in a year….. imagine if you made ‘unbirthday’ cards and just chose a different friend to send one to each day. Let’s make our loved ones feel special on days when they are not expecting it! Who’s in?
On this journal page, we celebrate our dear Alice with the March Hare.

This March Hare just makes me giggle. He is soooo cute!
Here I have him layered on top of a collaged page, which has also be painted with fresco finish paints, speckled with infusions and stamped with our tiny Ace of Spades cards.

The March Hare, himself, was coloured with watercolour paints. If you would like to feminize your March Hare, you can give her some fabulous whiskers, big eye lashes and even a cute halter top attached to her bow.

IT’S A TEA PARTY
Fancy dress required 😉🌹… layers upon layers of beauty entice us to have high tea with our good friends and our little sleepy dormouse.

For the background of this piece, I used two stamps from ENB16 on top of a painted background. The second layer is a piece torn from one of my gel printed pages using stencil PS380.

The third layer is our adorable dormouse in a daisy chain tea cup. This layer was painted in with watercolours and embossed with a clear gloss embossing powder.

PaperArtsy Stencil 380 (PS380)

WHO WANTS TO COME ON AN ADVENTURE WITH ME?
For this journal page I began with a layer of white gesso, collaged on a small piece of printed paper, followed by adding a bit of acrylic paint along the edges. Next I sprinkled the page with INFUSIONS & spritzed it with water. Once dry, I inked through stencil PS380 and stamped on a few more ace of spades cards. Alice was stamped onto a separate piece of card stock and painted with watercolours.

In this close up photo you can see where I used yellow stencil butter through stencil PS380.

This detailed photo lets you see that I used clear high gloss embossing powder on top of the ink that I blended through the stencil.

VISUAL TEXTURE GALORE
If you like to draw in your journals like me, stamps and stencils are a fabulous way to add extra visual texture.

  Add a few x’s here, a flower there…. and don’t forget a few love hearts 🥰.

In some of my journals I focus on free play and less on so called ‘perfection’. Creating in an ART JOURNAL gives you freedom when it comes to experimental creativity. A space to draw ‘loosely goose’ and try something new.

PaperArtsy Stencil 381 (PS381)

 GAME CHANGER OF A BACKGROUND
When I designed this stencil, I had no idea how much I would love it! It is so versatile and a welcomed visual element almost anywhere.

In this photo you can see how I blended paint through the stencil on top of my gesso background. When I added more paint layers to the front of the journal, I lost the visual elements a bit. Therefore I inked through those ones again and embossed them with a clear embossing powder.

I just adore how these blues and yellows come together on this journal cover. It has a bit of a weathered grunge look, but does not lose its rich elegance.

MORE THAN ONE QUEEN IN WONDERLAND
On this journal page, I seem to have created a ‘Royal’ feminine version of Tweedle Dee…lol 😂. For this background I painted layers of fresco finish paints followed by blending even more paint through our stencil.

Tweedle Dee was sketched on top of the dried background and then painted in with watercolour crayons, so that we could still see the rich background through the whole art piece.

The final elements that I added to this page was the small circle texture stamp from ENB16  embossed in neon pink.

PaperArtsy Stencil 382 (PS382)

 IT’S A GARDEN PARTY
This is one of those pages that kept calling to me wanting more visual goodness and texture. At a couple of stages, I was afraid that I had pushed it too far. However, at this final stage, I just LOVE ❤️ it.

I began with a layer of green fresco finish paint, followed by a few layers of the stencil in different shades. Next I added our door lock and tiny flowers. Rusting powder was used to grunge up the edges and tiny flower 🌸 elements.

The larger raised flowers are made using my PaperArtsy stencil (PS355) on my gel printed paper that was also stamped with the tiny game cards found in stamp set ENB17.

Because it just seemed to fit in so well, I used grunge paste through my stencil PS355 from my last release. I then embossed it with a glitter powder before adding a bit of rusting powder.

As a final detail element I used some paint markers and doodled on top of my PS382 stencilled elements.

DREAMING OF CURIOUS ADVENTURES
On this art journal page you can see that sometimes just using one simple stencil technique can really bring an art piece together. Here I blended a rich brown through our stencil for the background.

I chose to have the blended background be a variety of transparency levels as if I had made it all opaque, it would have competed too much with our main character/visual element on the page.

By choosing a background colour that matched one in her skin tone, it pulled the page together to give it a more cohesive look. By doing this, it makes sure that the audience sees the background and it’s lovely detail rather than just our main character.

And finally
I hope that you have had fun joining me in WONDERLAND and that I have inspired you to have your own creative adventure with my new stamps and stencils. I cannot wait to see what you all create and what stories you tell using these new fun products. 😘🍄🌹🐇

Keep smiling & creating,
Nicci
