NEW PaperArtsy Products: Lynne Perrella Minis {March 2023}

A note from Leandra:
Lynne Perrella creates the most beautiful images in her inimitable style. I don't know if you are such an addict that you can spot certain script, fonts, patterns and typographic elements that feature in different designs across her line with us. For example you might spot an architectural plan, or perhaps those fabulous circled numbers that you can see on LPM08.

So yes, these are MINI's, about credit card stamps size. For this release we have pulled stamps off existing plates and made the designs larger ...so they were VERY small elements when released on the original plates. Now they are all grown up!

I have loved working with these over the past couple of weeks, I've done a couple of journal spreads, one which is like a gallery of all the faces, so below you will get to see closer up snippets of these.

And I also made some Art Dolls ... actually these are going to be a mini-class on our stand at Version Scrap show we are exhibiting at this coming weekend in Paris. This is an exercise in how to make a small face into a real person! Some of you might have realised the bodies are made from PaperArtsy Printed Tissue, as are those gorgeous wings!

Leandra will be LIVE to share these samples and more with you over in our Facebook Group, PaperArtsy People shortly after this post publishes. I really hope you can drop by or catch the replay.

These stamps are available EXCLUSIVELY from our approved stockists. Please check the list at the foot of this post of from the home page tab of the blog.

Price: RRP €4.90 +VAT    Size: approx credit card size
All stamps are individually trimmed onto cling foam, with a laminated storage/index sheet.

Lynne Perrella Mini 01 (LPM01)

 SERENE
There's something that really appeals to me when a face is coloured in bright colours. THey just look super interesting.

A little bit of white helps the eyes pop too, but it isn't hard to build shading at the edge of the face.

If you contrast the background areas, then you get the chance to add more vivid colours. There are many details to explore in these stamps - perhaps that heart should be a glossy red?

SHELLEY
Dounia has been gel-printing onto book pages with a mini gel plate, you might see some other PaperArtsy stencils lurking in the background in her series of samples.

I'm calling her Shelley with those shells used as embellishments in these pretty layers, and I'm loving how Dounia has used contrasting layers so effectively, with those pops of mustard lifting the blue and pink perfectly.

Lynne Perrella Mini 02 (LPM02)

 MISSY 8
She's got a pretty serious look, and a tiara of sun! Perhaps I should turn her mouth up at the edge to cheer her up a little!

Maybe she's a Woodstock girls of the late 60's, just chilling ...

Look at the details in this design ... letters on her face, that sun in her hairline... she was only partially stamped above, but in the version below you can also see the flower in the square box, it looks like carved stone, the script at the base, and the Roman Numerals VIII (8).It's those small details that always make Lynne's stamps so appealing and fascinating.

I love this close up, you can see how I made the cheek architectural circle a bit white, and that grid on her face is just fab!

SUNGLOW
Dounia turned the flower embellishment blue, an easy one to pull out and repeat elsewhere on this card, and those circles on the face mimic the glow of the sun overlooking this piece.

Lynne Perrella Mini 03 (LPM03)

 STAINED GLASS
You might recognise this lady, she is one of 3 at the top of LPC034 and the designs are very reminiscent of stained glass. The original is teeny tiny, and this mini is a much larger version allowing us to see all the details more clearly.

Love the font of that background, it looks so biblical and important! and the flower details in her crown are just asking for a splash of colour.

But look how different she looks here, when you cut away the background, the side profile was perfect for this art doll!

FLOWER CROWN
Nothing goes to waste when you work in a series after a gel-printing session. All the scraps can come into play. I love how these 3 colours play with each other; pink, blue, yellow.

And as ever, colour always brings a LPC stamp to life!

Lynne Perrella Mini 04 (LPM04)

 OUT FOR A RIDE
She looks like she's straight out of some aristocratic period drama ..until I coloured her green and blue, and suddenly perhaps her top hat might be better converted into a witches hat!

I really love the half face and this stamp is tall and thin in a frame. It would be wonderful as a tiled background too!

See the numbers in circles? These are one of the elements I mentioned earlier that crop up in Lynne's designs repeatedly and I just LOVE them!

NUMBERS
Dounia went for it and fussy cut the numbers to make the smallest accents ever above and below each of the focal elements on this card. Once you start you can't stop ...

Lynne Perrella Mini 05 (LPM05)

 CROWNED
Ready for some kind of harvest festival or is this Juliet looking for her Romeo?

Super easy to add some gentle colour to bring the crown alive.

But ohhhh the art doll version - doesn't she look all grown up! Love the printed tissue clock behind her! It is amazing how a different setting can really change the personality of a stamp.

LOOPY FOR PINK
It's all about the pink, and can you spot the new loopy JOFY stencil in the background too, that was a release last month, and Jo specifically knew it would become a gel printing go-to. It seems Dounia would agree!

You might also spot the mini chequerboard stencil too on the blue print. I particularly like how the lacey front of this damsel's dress catches your eye. It was stamped on white card, but the section below is the image stamped onto old book page.

Lynne Perrella Mini 06 (LPM06)

 HOUSEBOUND
Reminds me a bit of covid lockdown this one! Hahaha! Even the weeds are growing on her roof! I'm feeling the locked in, wistfully looking out vibe! I've always adored house shaped stamps, so for me this one is one I have already used a lot.

She was perfect to finish off a half done journal spread from well over a year ago! All the paper layers were in situ, and she just looked perfect on top. Yep, she's trying to balance the books too - can you see her scribbled calculations to the side?

And she's attending church via zoom! Praying for the world to calm down no doubt!

IN THE WOODS
In Dounia's sample, she looks like she's in the woods. Maybe she's at a mindful retreat, enjoying some quiet time?

Lynne Perrella Mini 07 (LPM07)

 LOoK INTO MY EYES
Two different designs on this, 'they eyes have it' are up first ... and can I just say it was a total fluke that the nose perfectly followed the line of the previously painted layers in the background! I adore that orange blue contrast and the unexpected horses running across the top of the section.

you can see just a bit of white was added to the eyeball zone - no one needs blue eyeballs! Just that one thing shifts the emphasis to the eyes and the expression.

The second image is more delicate, and look my favourite numbers are on the cheeks! I must admit I am itching to go abck and add more depth and detail to the flowers. As this was a spread I was chopping about all the 'gallery' dabbing blue here, then switching up colour and revisiting...perhaps some coloured pencil shading might be a plan.

OVERSIGHT
Love the trio of elements in this one, and again, pulling out the butterfly to be an accent adds the perfect touch to this card

It's fun just playing around to get those layers working; colour, texture and contrast.

Lynne Perrella Mini 08 (LPM08)

 GOT YOUR NUMBER
And the final mini, and the numbers are back! and don't they turn it from a face to something more interesting! This stamp originally was teeny tiny ... and now she's bolder and bigger and we get to appreciate more of the fine detail.

This is the other side to the spread of LPM05. Purple and green look so good opposite each other, but that blue under the purple spots makes it a softer combo, heading into the split complementary zone of colour groups.

But look at that face with all the colour - i just finger painted in swipes the tiniest dots of colours onto an old book page, then finished with a smoosh of powder pink, which ended up as the perfect abstract highlight. This is just the easiest way to make any background for collage style stamps and a few book page words, and you are good. That script stamp is one of our newer PaperArtsy minis from the January release - very pretty in that green 'Lawn' Fresco paint.

This is the same, only partially stamped, but she is in brighter greens and pinks than the first sample. I'm tempted to use a translucent on top of those numbers. Ahhh what is it about numbers on stamps? I just love them as a typographical element.

1,2,3
From the sample shown earlier, with all the numbers, a close up on our numbered beauty! Less green, still serene!

Ok that is the new LPC mini release! They are just adorable and we hope you love the new size format as much as we do. One of the first types of stamps I started collecting were 'faces' so for me, this just ticks every box!

PS. We have had a slight delay shipping these while waiting for the local printer to get the index sheets laminated. (Literally waiting for ink to dry so they can be laminated!) We finally picked up the run only yesterday! Ahhhh we had really hoped they would be with us 2 weeks ago!! (It's been a nail biting time) So please be patient with us and the stockists - we have shipped today all the orders waiting for the minis. That might mean they will be with your retailer by the end of the week or early next.

Don't forget I will be live to show you these samples up close over in our FB community PaperArtsy People shortly, and stockists will be there to share their links!

Happy stamping to you all and the biggest thanks of all goes to the absolutely delightful Lynne Perrella. She brings as soothing calm to my world when I read her thoughtful emails. She is such an enabler, and she is just the most wonderfully wise woman. It is an absolute joy to be able to bring her ideas to you all, and I just love that we are one small slice of her incredible creative skill set.

Ever thankful to you all and our designers

Leandra
