"In true crafter style I rescued some pre cut mount board from a frame that was meant for one of those multi photo frames. I decided to use it for this project and started by cutting it down to a manageable size".
First of all I cut a piece of cotton fabric and using a combination of Zesty Zing, Hey Pesto, Beach Hut and Bora Bora on my craft mat I spritzed the paint with water and swooshed the material through it.
I then tied the material like you would if you were doing a tie dye and spritzed the material again with plenty of water.
While the material was drying I blended Distress Inks over
the mount board.
I then mixed some Grunge Paste with some Zesty Zing and
Pumpkin Soup and used it with a flower stencil. I wasn’t too happy with just
the flowers so I also added some leaves, which you will see in a later photo.
I unravelled the material, not really sure how it would
look, but I was quite pleased with the result.
I then stamped the text from the ID07 stamp set to the
centre of the fabric. I placed it behind the cut out area I’d chosen for it and
decided it needed something more. So, I used my sewing machine and did several
rows of stitching working my way towards the centre. You’ll see this in a later photo.
I stitched some buttons layered onto some burlap and dyed
fabric below the text and I attached a key by stitching it to the fabric too. Then
I sandwiched the fabric in between the cut mount board and a second piece that
I cut to fit the back.
I then painted some cut chipboard pieces with Cheesecake.
Then I sponged some Pumpkin Soup over the pieces and some Brown Shed around the edges.
I stuck the chip board die cuts to the top and bottom and
brushed some Classic Treasure Gold around the edges and over the Grunge Paste.
To finish I’ve added some metal embellishments and some more
buttons.
I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s project , I’ll be back
tomorrow !
