Michelle Webb #3 .... Fragile Hearts

"I was very excited when the postie delivered a book I had on order since last July! The release date kept changing and I thought it wasn’t getting delivered until March. But it came earlier! It was Dina Wakley’s art journaling book. I love the way she uses colour".

So my last journal page is heavily influenced by a Dina-esque style of journaling.

I started off using lots of Crafter’s Workshop stencils and using Fresco Paints with some Cut n Dry foam. I used Zesty Zing, Smoked Paprika, Little Black Dress and Beach Hut. I wanted a strong magenta purple hit too so I used  Wild Plum Adirondack Dabber.

I wanted to be able to stamp in some areas so I painted white Snowflake in places.

I had die cut two hearts for another project and I had an idea that I could use them as a mask too. So I used Pea Coat to dab paint around the edges, pulling the paint outwards, so as not to leave any hard square edges from the foam pad, and to make the paint look like it belonged there.

When I take the heart away I’m left with a beautiful blast of colour inside the heart.

I edged each heart with my black Aquarellable Pencil and used a waterbrush to blend it into the blue paint, and then when this was dry I edged the hearts with a normal black ink pen. I also snuck in a little “I do wish” stamp from the EclecTica³ by Sara Naumann stamp set ESN04 using an orange Archival ink pad.

I stamped the word “Fragile” from the EclecTica³  Collection by Sara Naumann ESN03 stamp set, right in the centre of the page, with Maroon Archival Ink. I also stamped the word “adventure” from the same stamp set using Olive Green Stazon Ink. I used this ink so the fine detail on the stamp stayed sharp.

 I stamped the word “Wisdom” from the EclecTica³  Collection by Sara Naumann ESN07 stamp set in the top left also with the green Stazon ink.

I watered down some Brown Shed and made some drips run down the page.

I then edged each heart with a fine tipped white Posca Pen and journaled around each heart.

 

I wanted some texture on there too, so I used some moulding paste through a star stencil and waited for it to dry. I then used some bright fuscia chalk pastels on the top of the stars, to make them stand out a bit.
