PaperArtsy at Ally Pally {April 8,9 2017}

Hi Everyone, Leandra here

This post contains...Crafting at Ally Pally, London show information! You might like to know about all the cool things (and people) we have planned to share with you!

Crafting at Ally Pally...(book here)... is a long-established London craft show for consumers. The focus of the show is paper-crafting. After a few years of stumbling along, I can honestly say the show seems to be picking up again with exhibitor numbers increasing again over the last 3 or so shows.

A big part of the new focus is also encouraging exhibitors to offer 'Make and Takes' on their stands. As you may be aware, we charge a nominal £2 fee for ours which partially subsidises the operating cost. Our sessions last 30 mins or more, and share techniques with our newest products and stamps.

Show Tickets
You can book tickets here with the show organisers

The PaperArtsy stand will be humming as usual. We have LOADS planned to share with you!

PaperArtsy Make and Take Zone
In 2017 at AllyPally, we will have 2 different MnT's happening at the same time with Lauren, Courtney, and some cameos teaching from Leandra and Raquel. This means more variety on the day,
more ideas to learn, and hopefully less chance of missing out, as we do tend to
book up super-quick.
Make sure to plan what you'd most like to do and as soon as you are in the show, come to our stand to book your place. All classes take place on the stand.

  • You can only book 1 class to ensure a fair booking opportunity for everyone. If there are spaces still available at mid-day, we will happily book you into another session.
  • Book in person on the stand with the Make and Take Elves (Millie/ Hugo).
  • Cost is £2 for a 30 minute mini class. This fee partially subsidises staff and supplies.
  • Everything is provided on the stand and you take away a cool finished item (see pics below)!
  • All participants must be 16 or over. Sorry, our insurance will not permit minors.
  • If you forget to turn up for your booking, we will pass your place onto the closest keen crafter in the vicinity. {We suggest you set an alarm on your phone/ watch/ alarm clock to make sure you get back to us within 5 mins of the scheduled start}
  • We do try to run to time, but be aware, sometimes we do get it wrong, and class may start a little late.

PaperArtsy Demonstrations

Saturday

11:00 - 2:00 Lucy Edmondson
(Demoing with Frescos, Distress Crayons, 7 gypsies media papers, Oxide Inks, stencils)

Lucy says: "I've been having a lot of fun playing with oxide inks, distress crayons, and exploring the possibilities on water-colour papers such as the exciting new papers from 7 gypsies. Looking forward to sharing lots of ideas with you at the show!"

2:00 - 3:30  Raquel Burillo (aka Scrapcosy)
(Demoing her own stamps and stencils with Infusions and Grunge Paste)

Raquel says: "I love vintage style and since my stamps and stencils were released, I haven't been able to move away from them as well as from Grunge paste and the new Infusions which are the perfect match for them. In my demos I'll show you some techniques using Infusions with water to watercolour stamped images, to create multicolour backgrounds and to use them by way of ink to stamp images instead of using an ink pad. I will also be using glaze to create my own translucent acrylic paint and colour my stamps as well as to apply it through the matching stencils and even to create a wood effect as a background. For a vintage and more textured look I'll use grunge paste through the stencils in some of the samples. And since I love metallics, gold fresco paint will probably make an appearance. I hope you have fun!"

 3:30 - 5:00 Florence
Flo says: "I usually help out Leandra and Mark on their stand in Paris as a translator, and this year I happen to be in London for a short break to visit my husband's family, so I get to come and have fun at this show too! (I am the one with the French accent!) I prefer a vintage style, so I shall be looking forward to sharing some of my ideas ideas with you all at the show"

10:00 - 12:30 Leandra Franich
(demoing Amsterdam Acrylic Inks, Oxide Inks, Gelli plates, Journalling)
Leandra says: "As  usual I'll be trying to squeeze as many new products into my demos as possible. But I'm sure you are itching to see some tricks with Oxide Inks. They are so much fun with Lin and Seth's mark-making stamps, so we'll start there and show you some great ways to take advantage of the different properties this interesting ink offers.
I'll also be exploring the versatility of the brand new product; Amsterdam Acrylic Inks. These are amazing on top of Fresco paints, and in Grunge Paste"

Sunday

10:00 - 4:00 Lin Brown
(Demoing Fresco Paints, Distress crayons, Infusions, here own stamps and stencils)
Lin says: "I'm really enjoying the new colours of infusions, and have discovered a useful technique which creates an amazing effect with just a few grains. I'll also be showing you an awesome background idea with Distress Crayons and Fresco paints. It's been a while since I've made it to Ally Pally, so I'm really looking forward to catching up with you at the show! Oh and I cannot wait to play with those new Amsterdam paints and inks too!!"

10:00 - 12:00 Leandra Franich
(demoing with oxide inks, Amsterdam Acrylic Paints, Kim Dellow and Tracy Scott stamps)

12:00 - 4:00 Jo Firth- Young
(Demoing Fresco Paints, Jofy Stamps and Stencils)

Jo says: "I have been loving how Kim Dellow's stamps seem to sit so nicely with mine. I'm loving stamping and doodling around the stamps to extend the images with white gel/ paint pens over Frescos. This creates really great journal pages and panels."

As you can see,  there will be plenty to both do and see on the PaperArtsy stand. We will have lots of interesting products as usual, and we suggest you make sure to plan your visit so you can watch those demonstrators who float your boat, and take the make and takes of your choice! You can pre-book your Make and Take with Millie or Hugo on the stand after 10am when the show opens, so do try to arrive at Ally Pally on time so you don't miss out!

Keep your eyes peeled for a periscope around 5pm (London time) tomorrow, Friday and you'll get to see all the lovely goodies we have ready to share with you this weekend!

Oh...and for those of you who saw the Apron vidoeo Leandra shared on Facebook this weekend, we had a call to say they will arrive tomorrow so we will have them to sell at the show! We are expecting a delivery tomorrow!

PaperArtsy coming to.... {Doncaster} on Sunday

Hi everyone, Leandra here

This is just a quick reminder that our last stamp show of 2015 is at Doncaster Dome this coming Sunday, Oct 18th. DN4 7PD is the post code you need for your sat nav, and the show is open 10-4pm.

The show is hosted by Paula and her Stamp Magic team, and is one of the UK's longest established stamp shows. We love it!

We have cleverly re-worked our floor plan to add another 25% of stock more than we normally bring!

Every year we add some many new products to the PaperArtsy line that it's a shame not to share them all with you.

We will have the following stamps:
JoFy (Flowers, Christmas and stencils) Lynne Perella, Hot Picks (Halloween, Christmas and some 2013-2015 newer ones), and all 106 minis.

Plus we will have the wide variety of stamps from the fantastic Eclectica Designer Series: Lin Brown, Ellen Vargo, Darcy, Sara Naumann, Clare Lloyd, Emma Godfrey and Liz Borer.

All the Fresco paints, plus the new Limited Edition paints and Grunge paste.

Lots and lots of stencils, we got about 50 new designs arrive last week alone!

Artifacts from Sandra Evertson, perfect for altering.

Gelli plates, small round and oh so cute

A wide selection of gels, pastes and mediums from GOlden, Prima, Faber Castell, Dreamweaver and more.

Journals for you journalling of course.

Plus we have a lot of embellishments from Prima, Tim Holtz and of course Prima Papers too.

And we also have the new Bistre pigment powders to show you, and a whole rack of the Lindy's Stamp Gang dye sprays in 3 different styles, Flat Fabio (dye only), Moonshadow (brown base with sparkle), Starbursts (bright colours and mica sparkle).

I am sure there is a whole lot more, but that is a good start! I am very much looking forward to demoing with a wide variety of these products!

Hope to see you there!

PaperArtsy on Tour .... this weekend at {Port Sunlight, The Wirral}

Hi everyone, Leandra here

Life is slowly getting back to normal here at HQ. The summer visitors have started to trickle in from New Zealand, and in between family and friends visiting, we have been getting ready for the Port Sunlight show run by Happy Stampers in Hulme Hall, this Saturday 10-4pm.

Port Sunlight is a delightful show, the organisers are very particular about how the stands are presented, and they always manage to have a wider variety of exhibitors than the other shows we exhibit at, which is wonderful!. The main point of difference at Port Sunny is that all the stands must have stamps on their stands from different companies, so each stand is differentiated from the others and there are always some really interesting companies who you may not have heard of before. I don't usually get a lot of time to look around, but if I were a stamping customer, I would very much enjoy a day at this show!

If you haven't pre-booked tickets, then its too late, everything is sold in advance by pre-order. There are strict number restrictions in the beautiful old hall for safety reasons, so if you haven't got a ticket, then you need to get your social media contacts in action to find out if you can blag a ticket from someone who planned to go but can't make it.

Samples: Using new JOFY 36 flower set, new JOFY chipboard shapes, Prima Graphite Texture Paste, Dreamweaver mica powders

This time we have a bigger stand than usual. We have been nagging for an extra couple of metres as its been a bit of a squeeze, so yay, we now have a much bigger stand, but we are still in the same spot. This means we are bringing a second demonstrator with us, {the lovely Sue Carrington, who has been a regular contributor on the PA blog for a few years now} and a Franich (grown up) munchkin {Miss Ella} to help customers and assist us to make build up and break down a less stressful experience!

Samples: Using Fresco Chalks Acrylics, New Prima Graphite Texture Paste, new 2015 Lin Brown flowers and birds stamp sets

The van is packed, I even got an hour to find my desk and have a quick play. But as it is election day here in the UK, I need to pop out to vote, and I still have to pack an overnight bag. No biggie, usually I am doing that at midnight! Feeling extremely organised!

Samples: Using New JOFY Chipboard, new 2015 Lin Brown Limited Edition Paints, New JOFY 2015 stamps.

There is a new blog topic this weekend, I have not had a chance to shoot a video, but the topic is one I know you will all be brimming with ideas for, so I don't think you will be at a loss without one!!

Have a lovely weekend, and if you are in the North West of England, we hope to see you on Saturday!

...Demonstrators ...

Both Emma Godfrey and Darcy Wilkinson will be on the stand demoing morning and afternoon with their wonderful stamps. These two will also each be doing make and takes (Emma mornings, Darcy in the afternoons), more on that soon.

Saturday in the middle of the day, Liz Borer will be doing a session on the demo desk too with her Art Nouveau stamps.

As a special surprise, we also have an amazing line up of some of our regular blog contributors demoing too

...Saturday 11th April Demos from...

10:30 -12:30 Alison Hall
Alison will be mashing up Ellen Vargo background stamps with Sara Naumann images, and of course Fresco paints. Expect lots of layers and advice on composition. Alison is a whizz at backrounds that might be suitable for journalling and more.

12:30 - 2:00 Gabrielle Price
You might have seen Gabby on her blog recently mashing up Lynne Perrella 'heads' with Lin Brown flower used upside down as a skirt, it is this idea that Gabby is exploring in her demo.

2:30 - 4:00 Jo Myhill

Jo is well known for her shabby, soft colours, gritty texture, and it is this and more she will be showing you today. She's a messy pup, but fascinating to watch. If you don't know how to let go and explore, this demo is for you!

...Sunday April 12th demos from...

10:30 - 12:30 Deb Wainwright
Deb is fast gaining a reputation for her journalling, and has a real talent for drawing faces on her pages. She layers up paint beautifully, there is a great freedom about her work. If you want to know more about the journalling process, then this demo is for you! She will incorporate some JoFY stamps along the way.

12:30 - 2:30 Alison Bomber
Alison is particularly drawn to the Lynne Perrella stamps. If you saw her stained glass samples she made earlier in the year with the new Fresco blue translucent paints, and gloss glaze on top, then you will love to see them in person! Lynne Perrella stamps ALWAYS come to life when you add colour to them, Alison will share all her tips with you.

2:30 - 4:30 Julie-Ann Lee
When Julie-Ann created these bird-ladies on her blog we all went into a frenzy! Such a fun idea, we even made them into a make and take! Come and watch Julie-Ann share her tip and techniques for success with stencils, paints and stamps.

...Make and Take Programme...

The make and take programme will have 4 options over the course of the weekend

To book your place you need to come to the stand as soon as the show opens and see Courtney who will be taking the booking.

To be fair for everyone, initially she will book you for one slot only until we assess demand. You can book any session (£2) over the course of the day, but we are only taking one booking per person.

This will be reviewed at lunch time, if there are still spaces later in the day, you may get a chance to do a second session. No children are permitted to do make and takes due to  our on-stand insurance obligations.

Make and takes start every 45 mins, and are £2 each.

...Saturday Make and Takes...

Saturday Morning with Emma (10:15am- 12:30pm)
Emma Godfrey Stamps - Project Life 4" x 6" layout

Emma is a scrapbooker at heart, and Pocket Scrapbooking has been high on her list of things to do over the last few years. Pocket Scrapping is small format size layouts (3x4", 4x6", 2x2"). You can fill 12x12 with pocket-sized patches, but of course, this size lends itself to crossing over into mini books, journalling, card making too. Emma will share these ideas when demoing, but also in this make and take she has designed for Saturday morning.

She will be applying paint with baby wipes, spraying paint through stencils, and using her new scribble circle stamps which are fabulous! (see below) If you don't want to use a photo, the layout can easily be adapted to utilise stamps as the focal point.

Saturday Afternoon with Darcy (2:00pm - 4:15pm)
Lin Brown/ Lynne Perrella Stamps - Bird Ladies

This make and take is one that Lin Brown has designed for Version Scrap, but as it was Julie-Ann's idea (and she is also demoing these on Sunday) we thought it would be nice for Saturday Ally Pally people to get a chance to make one too. Darcy will be your hostess, and as you can see, it's a Lynne Perrella 'head' mash up with Lin's new Fresco paints, stamps and stencils. Lots to enjoy here!

...Sunday Make and Takes...

Sunday Morning with Emma (10:15 - 12:30pm)
JoFY Stamps - mini chipboard book cover

Yes, that sneaky sausage Jo Firth-Young has designed some new stunning stamps to work with her classes in Paris this weekend, but I'm sure you will find plenty to do with them too!!

This focal flower also has matching chipboard shapes, and there are 5 sets of chipboard shapes for you to pick from that co-ordinated with several of Jo's stamp sets. These are limiterd edition shapes for this show only, so don't miss out!

Emma will be taking this Make and Take, but of course, it was designed by Jo, and shows off her new Limited Edition paints, newest stamps and is a lovely 6x6" size, so you could convert it into a book cover perhaps?

Sunday Afternoon with Darcy (2:00 pm - 4:15pm)
Darcy Stamps - mini book, brayered and stamped (colours may vary on the day)

Darcy, being the magician that she is, has designed this Make and Take with her stamps. She will show you how to create a brayer background, then in a flash it will magically become a mini book. Next you get to decorate it with stamped images from her newest stamp sets. Looks like fun to me!

...New Products...

Jo has released 2 new stamps, with words and phrases in French, but we think they may well appeal to you in London regardless. We have some chipboard shapes to match some of the shapes too..

In addition we have 2 new stamps sets from Emma Godfrey, which also have French elements...perfect for pocket scrapbooking!

On the PaperArtsy stand (No 56) we will have all our new release 2015 PaperArtsy products, numerous stamp collections, stencils and of course Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paints. To see all those products, videos and more go here.

In addition, Nina will be bringing many of her products from her shop, It's Crafting Time, that she knows you enjoy, including gelatos, gels and pastes from the Media Line from DecoArt, and numerous other goodies and embellishments!

We hope you have a wonderful time at the show, we have put a lot of hard work in behind the scenes to make this an amazing event, I'm sure you will all have a blast!

Make sure you take lots of photos for us, and don't forget, drinkies in the bar on Saturday after the show closes for any interested #PAtwits !

Enjoy!
