NEW PaperArtsy Products: ZinskiArt {March 2022}

A note from Leandra:
Something a bit different from Elena this release with 3 larger size face stamps as the focal of each set that allow you to personalise and mix-match between the elements from one or more of the sets. We thought this would be fun for journal pages, but as you can see, Keren has come up with a number of variations with some of the older LPC sets too for cards and more.

Keren will be along to share with you LIVE her ideas over in our facebook Group, PaperArtsy People shortly after this post publishes. I hope you can drop by for the live, or try to catch the replay.

Until the next Zinski release comes along, these stamps are available EXCLUSIVELY from our approved stockists. Please check the list at the foot of this post or from the tab of the blog home page to find a retailer online or geographically near you, it makes sense to order within your country where possible.

Hi everyone, Elena here

I've been wanting to submit designs like these for a long time, so when Leandra suggested it, I jumped at the chance. Drawing whimsical girls faces is what I enjoy drawing most and almost every page on every one of my art-journals has a girls face on it.

The fact these are larger images means we can only get so much on a plate, so I wanted them to be as versatile as possible. I designed them to be able to mix and match and use the larger elements for the top of the head as hair or head-dresses as well as for shoulders as part of an outfit. Each set has the ability to make different looking journal girls depending on how you use it...you can add other stamps or stencils too. Why does hair have to be hair? You can pile fruit or flowers on top, or abstract patterns, or houses as Keren did in her amazing samples.

All three sets have interchangeable elements making an abundance of combinations possible. The small elements can be used for earrings, necklaces, tattoos or simple mark making for backgrounds and patterns. The ideas and combinations above help show you the possibilities.

I love these designs because they can be fun and bold, demure and dreamy or quite edgy and quirky, the choice is yours. They're an opportunity to really splash colour and think outside the box. For me personally, I know these are sets I will never tire of and enjoy the challenge of finding something new each time.

Have fun. Love Elena

ZinskiArt Set 71 (ZA71)

Hi, It's Keren here and I've really loved using these face themed stamps from Zinski Art. They are truly versatile and once I saw the open ended faces, I knew that they would pair wonderfully with some of Elena Zinksi's previous sets. So for all of these stamp sets, I've made a project with just the new set and then added in another stamp set for the second project. Each of the 3 faces is distinctively different and the accessories stamps can be used with the different characters.

The sentiment inspired me to go a little left-field and stick the character into an envelope; well why not?! Her fabulous headdress is a joy to colour so grab your pencils / pens or paint and enjoy some quiet down-time.

One of the things I loved at a basic level was choosing eye colour, whether to use freckles, which hat to wear or should you add a scarf? It's like having a grown up 'Girl's World head' (anyone remember those!!). You can have them 'au naturel' or add make-up or other distinguishing features you might want to add in.

The second project is a combination of the new ZA71 and ZA39. I can imagine some fun art journal pages talking about growth and home and feeling grounded.

These heads are really easy to do. I did do some masking to make one building appear more central but as the houses are such good sized images, there's no hassle cutting masks out.

You can see some pretty seam binding ribbon threaded through from the back and also in the background is some ink through the PS297 stencil. The image is coloured using Copic markers but the images are large enough to make using Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics another easy option too.

ZinskiArt Set 72 (ZA72)

This stamp set is so elegant, with a little quirky thrown in for good measure. I began the projects with a gel printed background (using Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics) adding some paint through the PS270 stencil and then using the 'bump technique' but with Grunge Paste. If that wasn't enough, adding some glitter to the Grunge Paste before it dried created a wonderfully sparkly backdrop for the diva to shine against.

These faces would look stunning in watercolour, but I used more alcohol markers to give precise colour and make blending easy (I'm still working on my paint blending!). Using translucent glitter over colour blended lips means you get a glittery blended effect.

The floral headdress is a stylish addition but I added in the cute funny bird- why wouldn't you want to have a bird nesting amidst your floral head gear?!

Obviously not everyone likes to use alcohol markers for colouring, so I've tried to use different techniques for adding colour. This next project is using just the set again, but using stencils, Matte Glaze, Infusions and a little extra colour by way of alcohol markers. I let the colour from Infusions do all the leg work (or should that be face work!!)

After stamping the face using a permanent ink, I added Matte Glaze through the PS108 stencil and then added Are You Cerise & Violet Storms Infusions to the panel.

The Matte Glaze works as a perfect resist to any other colour, and I used some Grey and pink alcohol markers to add some contrast to the glazed areas. I love the soft ethereal look it brings to the piece and gives the character a softer depth than other ways of adding colour.

The last treatment for this particular set is easily the simplest. Not trying to match skin tone or blend, just allowing colour to speak.

It's a piece of gel printed cardstock and stamped over the top. I've added little else except black and white splatters and some fibre and an eyelet.

The final stamp set uses another style again and a fun one!

ZinskiArt Set 73 (ZA73)

Rather than worrying about colour of skin and blending, I went with a random set of colours on my gel plate and stamped over the top. After stamping I decided she would be asking questions in her head...the hat is an afterthought which is why it doesn't fit perfectly! (oops, maybe I should have planned first and not let the design evolve!!).

There are so many smaller elements to help add character to your...characters!! The glasses are just fabulous and adding a simple cardstock hinge to the hat meant it could be lifted up to reveal the questions underneath. I also thought she might approve of a little glamour so added lots of tiny stars. Her eyes were stamped separately, coloured and cut out so the face didn't just look one dimensional with just one colour.

The second idea I had was to incorporate an older Zinski set, ZA31. I decided to create a watery scene.

I love the sentiment, Elena is always so good at thinking of fun and punny phrases. Look closely at her cheek, you can see a fish swimming in there, behind the cut out strips!

What I hope has become obvious is the enormous scope for your imagination to run wild with these sets. Whether you love colouring, or prefer to use blocks of painted colour/gel prints these stamps are perfect for you. It's a style of stamps that will lend itself to art journalling, cards, scrapbooks and tags; a real all-rounder! I just know you'll have fun creating your own people your way!
