Gift Folder {with Eclectica³ Sara Naumann and Darcy UK stamps by Julie Ann Lee}

Hi, it's Julie Ann from Magpieheaven thrilled to be guesting with PaperArtsy. Books are a big part of my life and I love to give them as presents. A certain online bookseller post their wares in folders made from one of my favourite crafting materials - corrugated card! Here's how I gave a humble Amazon folder the PaperArtsy look for a friend's gift!

I wanted to use ALL my new JOFY and Lin Brown paints, so I thought - Why not? Yes, ALL on one project! I gessoed an Amazon Folder outside and in and cracked open those colours!

I began by brayering my card, starting with dark colours: brisk swipes of Slate, alternating with Marlin, making sure that my 'swipes' were vertical or horizontal. Gradually I worked up to lighter colours: Turquoise and flashes of Plum. I used  Chalk  and Hint of Mint to stamp the script from Sara Nauman's exquisite stamp plate ESN10 randomly.

ESN10

To accentuate the texture of the corrugated card, I added layers of translucent paints: Cherry Red and, one of my old favourites, Inky Pool, plus stamping with Turquoise and ESN10. Can you see the vertical stamped lines that really echo the corrugated cardboard? Lin Brown's stencil 004 ELB was fun to use and Rose Quartz Treasure Gold too!

Inside I used the same kind of techniques, adding my homemade Washi tape for which I used Lin's stencils and Darcy's lovely little birds from EDY10. You might have noticed I used the leaves from this set to edge the Washi on the front of my folder and one to set off the Sara hearts on the outside too.

EDY10

The book is hiding under the flaps and the tiny tag has a message on the reverse side. I made my circles by dipping a lid into Versamark and then sprinkling with copper embossing powder, in fact all my circles are that lid dipped into paint - a great technique I learned from the wonderful Darcy! Can you spot ESN08 on here too?

 The hearts from ESN11 were stamped onto Tea-bags and fixed to Smoothy Heavy Card with Satin Glaze.

The little wooden word is from Prima. You can see some of the embossed element from ESN10, it's amazing how effectively they emboss.

Thank you so much for looking. If you want to see more detail you're very welcome to pop over to Magpieheaven.

A huge thanks to Julie Ann from PaperArtsy, so nice to see you back here. This is such a cool way to giftwrap a book. You managed to get so many colours and images on there and they all work together, almost like we designers had planned it that way .The Eclectica³ collections are so effective when mixed together.

We would love you to join in with our monthly challenge. If you are inspired by any of this month's guests who have blogged between Oct 1st 2014 and Oct 31st 2014 then join in and link up your creativity HERE.
