Wow it is pretty obvious that Florence got super carried away stamping with her sewing stamps! But wow they look amazing on kraft card, and she tries all kind of inks too - she made several cards she was on such a roll! Enjoy, the results are beautiful!

Hi everyone, it's Florence Adam here, and I'd like to share these lovely cards with a vintage sewing theme.

I like kraft (and craft!), because I really like the look of it, it goes so well with black and white but with any colour really. This theme was made for me then! Except the faux leather technique (I will share with you later). This project is not really technical, so instead of a step-by-step, I will share all the cards I made with you.

Usually when I start a project, I have no idea in which direction I am going with it. I started to stamp randomly on kraft paper and white paper with Jet Black, Plum Archival Ink & Vintage Photo Oxide Ink. Here are the Hot Pick stamps I have used:

For this card, I wanted to create a faux leather background. I watched a few YouTube tutorials about this subject, and they were talking about mixing glycerine and water to soften the kraft paper. The problem was I didn't have glycerine. I found lip balm at home, so I tried to apply it to the kraft paper, then a miracle happened: It worked perfectly! It softens the fiber, so it creases easily. I added some ink, some spray to add interest to it. The oily aspect on the kraft makes it even more real. 

Look how it looks great with blue jeans ink!

Just a little bit of inking with cut and dry, and I looks so good. Especially on kraft, I like to do faux stitching, and draw line between each hole with white gel pen.

This was a little crazy, but I did it, look, I hand sew all the hooks on the stamp.

By the way, don't even try to ink with Stazon over the lip balm, the result is not good, let say disappointing.

I thought I'd make 2 or 3 and ended-up making 7 of them! Give it a try for your own ones and you will see how addicted it is. I love these cards!

Hi everyone, it's Miriam with you today, and I'd like to share with you a trio of cards that I made using Kraft card.

I started off with the intention of creating one card but I started getting excited to try different things and ended up creating three.  What I loved was how all three cards looked different and yet they all were made using Kraft card and the same stamps.  It was almost as if the Kraft card took on different properties when used with different materials.

My favourite card was the one that I used white ink and embossing on.

I loved how the white ink looked on the Kraft card.  I have a collection of white inks that work differently on different materials.  For Kraft card I found that VersaMagic worked the best.

I loved how the vellum and burlap created a soft and natural look.  The white embossing really made the stamp from ESN25 'pop' and I loved the detail that it showed.

For this card I used Distress Oxides. I love how they looked on the Kraft card. 

I kept this card simple using the Oxides and a white gel pen.  Again, I used the feather stamp from ESN25 but also the postage stamp from ESN24, which was used around the edges.  

I thought this would make a great one layer card.

For my final card I wanted to see how the new Emerald Creek Seth Apter Baked Textures would look on Kraft card.

This really excited me.  I stamped the script from ESN04 and used the Vintage Beeswax Baked Textures powder.  When I melted this I was almost giddy with excitement - I just loved how this looked on the Kraft card.

For the main image I used Patina Oxide Baked Textures.  I didn't quite stamp the full image but I was fine with this - it looked amazing - the effect was truly fabulous - I love these textures!!  The pop of gold, along with the patina really work well with the Kraft card.

I really had great fun creating these and I had to stop myself.  I so loved trying different materials with the Kraft card. I loved the softness with vellum but also how different it reacted with the Distress Oxides.  

I really hope that I have inspired you to have a go yourself and see what effects you can create using Kraft card.

Ohhhh I've just been demoing here in Paris with Hot Pick stamps all day! I LOVE this collection, it will never date. These stamps have so many details that I know i will be revisting for years to come! Gorgeous ideas from Wanda to see in this post!

Hi everyone, it's Wanda Hentges with you today, and I'd like to share with you a card using both Kraft Card and Crunchy Waxed Kraft Paper.

I do love making cards!!  I enjoy canvases, art journals, altered pieces, atcs, etc, etc. but have always loved cards.  And they are wonderful to give away hopefully putting a smile on someone's face.

This whole card is built around the quote I used from the Eclectica {Alison Bomber} Collection (EAB06).  Alison has such wonderful quotes in her stamp sets!!!  I've paired it up with a stamp from Hot Picks 1301 (HP1301EZ).

Besides Kraft Card I've also used Crunchy Waxed Kraft Paper.  This is such a fun paper to use in projects and I love how it looks after crumpling!!

I wanted the butterfly to have color and dimension but not completely cover the Kraft.  I took a piece of Kraft Card large enough for the butterfly and painted Fresco Chalk Acrylic (Coral) onto it with a fan brush working from the center outward.  Using a Stamp Platform, I stamped the whole image onto Kraft with Archival Ink Jet Black.  I then added my painted card where the butterfly was and stamped again.  To make the black darker on the butterfly I stamped it multiple times, dried it, cut it out, and colored the cut edges with a Wink of Stella Pen (Gl. Black) to give a little sparkle and a finished edge. 

This Tim Holtz stencil makes me think of willow leaves so it also went well with the quote.  I mixed just a couple drops of Fresco Chalk Acrylic (Hyde Park) into some Ranger Texture Paste (Transparent Gloss) and stenciled it onto a piece of Kraft Card.  Once it was completely dry, I trimmed it and inked the edges with Distress Ink (Vintage Photo).

Splattering with the Tim Holtz Splatter Brush to add a bit of color to the folded card base - Fresco Chalk Acrylics (Green Patina, Hyde Park, Coral).  Edges are inked with Vintage Photo.

All the pieces.  The quote from Alison Bomber (EAB06)...

... is stamped with VersaMark and embossed with detail white powder, torn out, and the edges inked with Vintage Photo.  The main panel also has torn edges and they were then embossed in white and inked with Vintage Photo.  A White Colored Pencil brought out the flowers in that wonderful collage stamp.   

I really had a good time creating with Kraft Card.   It is not my go-to color and can be a bit challenging.  I enjoyed making all the layers and working everything together!!  I hope you can get out your Kraft Card and create something for this challenge!!!  If you do, link it up and I'll be along to take a look.

So Claire had me hooked with the Blue and Ochre; one of my all time fave colour combinations! I love the pop of colour and on the Kraft card, these old doorways do seem to come from warmer climes, and share a taste of Portugal's beautiful doorways and cobblestones

Hi everyone, it's Claire Snowdon here with you today, and I'd like to share with you a journal page created in my Prima Finnabair mixed media journal.

I've had this journal for a while and like to create in it when the mood for something different takes me - it has a lovely collection of different pages such as different Prima specialty papers, pockets, plastic insert pages......and kraft pages - which is what our current topic is all about!

I had fun creating lots of layers on the background - obviously using the kraft coloured pages gives a totally different look to the colours when compared to using a white background.

Lots of brayering, stencilling, stamping and general paintiness and I was happy with my background.  The Fresco colours I used were Toffee, Pumpkin Soup, Chalk and Beach Hut.

I took a scrap of card and used Distress Oxides to colour it for the quote - which is from Alison Bomber set EAB02.

The focal stamps used on my pages are all from Emma Godfrey's most recent release - stamp plates EEG25 and EEG26.  You will also be able to see numerous background elements from these sets which I either stamped using the paints or the potting soil archival ink.

To add a hint of colour to the main focal images I used a little bit of watercolour pencil.

For the sentiment I decided at the last minute to emboss it using Seth Apter's baked texture powders.  I used the Vintage Beeswax powder and 'baked it' twice to give a lovely glossy contrast to the very matt and rustic feel on the rest of my page.

Working on a kraft background definitely can be challenging but it is great to have a change and mix things up a bit.  Using the brayer to add the paint made it easy to get started and was super fast too!

Hi everyone, it's Dounia, sharing with you the joy of crunching kraft paper and an underwater scene.

I know this fortnight theme is Kraft card, but here in France, Kraft paper is readily available and is one of my earliest memories of crafting! I love its color and texture, so I wanted to share a few fun techniques with it.

My main inspiration for this art journal page was the fantastic stamps set ESC10 by ScrapCosy. It has everything you need to create an underwater world: spunky fishes, graphic weeds, elegant seashells and even a starfish!

One of the great thing about Kraft paper is its resistance. You can fold it over and over again, it does not tear. I used it to create a crackled effect, highlighting the raised folds with ink. Then a spritz of water and a good ironing and it's flat as new, but with an amazing pattern! I also love the weeds stamp in ScrapCosy's set. It's so graphic it gives amazing movement to a background.

I love the color of Kraft. I think all of us have memories we associate with it, like surprise packages in the mail or paper bags of pastries. It also automatically feels vintage. I therefore decided to keep that characteristic color, even if it does not particularly evoke the sea, and match the other elements to it. For me that means more of those lovely weeds in tones of sepia and yellow ochre.

Crunched Kraft paper is also great as a texture, here to mimic rocks and coral. I emphasized the creaks and peaks with Freco acrylic paints. Vanilla and Caramel go particularly well with Kraft (and sound like and ice cream combination!). To limit the bulk on my page, I run the piece through my Big Shot machine to flatten it. I love the effect!

I wanted the denizens of this Kraft sea to contrast with the background. I always think of fishes as shiny and iridescent so I wanted metallic colors. I used Treasure Gold in blues and purples on PaperArtsy's Crunchy Paper (an other use of Kraft paper, waxed this time!). I think the metallic/waxy finish and slight transparency are really well suited for fishes.

The blues scallops provide a refreshing counterpoint to the brown rocks an weeds. I wanted to includes the whole sea-floor stamp but couldn't mesh its detailed style with the stylised background. In the end only the starfish made the cut...

Finally I populated the sea with the most striking of my stamped fishes. I added depth by creating shadows with markers and highlighted them with a white paint pen. Against the vintage tones, those catchlights were far too bright so I toned them down with a pale yellow marker. I am quite happy with how lively they look!

Beginning this project, I was not sure how well Scrapcosy's very detailed and vintage stamps would mesh with my art journaling style but I'm thrilled by the result. The French saying translates to "like a fish in water", meaning something that comes easily and naturally, and I think it well describes my experience with this page. I hope this gives you some ideas to play with Kraft paper, as these techniques can be adapted to lots of projects.
