A note from Leandra ...
OMG I am so excited about this release, and wow! I have managed to get some pretty bright and funky colours too! There is nothing I like more than vibrant colours with vintage stamps, so get out your Tracy Scott sunnies and lets take a closer look!
By the way, when I first started stamping (shhh)....about 34 years ago .....I did the usual thing and collected child-related stamps: teddy bears, happy birthday phrases and such. But, as soon as I found some stamps with women's faces and text, I just knew I had found my happy place!! Since then this style of stamp remains my most favourite design.
It is always amazing to be able to share with the world Hot Pick designs that make my heart swoon, just like all those years ago. I sincerely hope you love them as much as I do!! Add to that some gorgeous distressed, wallpaper-like backgrounds made with timeless stencil designs, and we are off to a great start! But what about that Printed Tissue!! Well, on this side I did go traditional vintage with a junk journal made with authentic vintage ephemera, photos, papers ... many of which have a musty smell and inherent sepia vibe that old papers give! How autumnal! As you can imagine, I used a good dose of Vintage Photo Distress ink!
If you would like to see this release revealed, and the numerous samples I will be LIVE over in our Facebook Group, 'PaperArtsy People' shortly after this post publishes. These stamps are available EXCLUSIVELY from our approved stockists. Please check the list at the foot of this post to find a retailer online or geographically near you, it makes sense to order within your country.
You can also find the replay pinned to the featured posts at the top of the PaperArtsy People Facebook group, and we are now posting these releases to the PaperArtsy YouTube channel.
Did you know.... Sam here at PAHQ has been updating our YouTube with the various LIVE streams from our designers. You can find the CRAFTalong playlist here, and she's dropping videos in there 3 times weekly until we are caught up.
We have also been updating each of the designer NEW product LIVES too, so bear with us, it will take some time, but we are currently scheduled well into December, plenty of content is going up on YouTube for you!
Save the date if you want to understand this (and the damask) zingy background. This circles BG was the first of many of the art samples for this release. I often start with gel-printed backgrounds, or stencil-inspired backgrounds. Order your supplies from a PA stockist now and CRAFTalong with me in November!
When: November 10th, 20:30 Paris time
What: how to build these stencilled backgrounds with bright and groovy colours.
Products: PS542, PS543, paints as below (or your choice), brayer, foam sponge, Large script stamps eg HP2505, Smoothy card
I especially want to show you this effect with the circles stencil above ... how cool did that turn out!?? ...it was an ohhhhh moment!! You can see the supplies you need in the photo.
As already mentioned above, I really think this release is an absolute doozy. I adore all the useful elements within each set, and I've had a blast making samples. There are so many options, I think you will be seeing lots of reels coming up with technique ideas! The 3 sets are so charming together!
3 stamp sets and 3 regular size stencils, and those face stamps are the perfect size, not too big and not too small. I adore face stamps, I think this is why I have aways adored Lynne Perrella designs. Within our first ever stamp collection from 2003 (Ink & The Dog), and then Hot Picks (started in 2010) we have always had lots of faces, scripts, words and abstract background patterns within both ranges.
As the vibe is 'vintage' they never date, so this set of 3 stamps fits the plan beautifully! Now that it's the 16 1/2 birthday of Hot Picks range, I'm here to remind you every single stamp is still available to order, whether from PaperArtsy direct, or from one of our incredible stockists, all listed below!
Hot Picks Stamps
Red Rubber Stamps (A5 set)
Price: RRP €23.00 +VAT
Size:5" x 6" (13 x16.5cm)
All stamps are individually trimmed onto cling foam, with a laminated storage/index sheet.
Hot Pick 2604 by PaperArtsy (HP2604)
This stamp has everything. A decent piece of script from an invoice (also found on the Backgrounds Printed Tissue), ephemera we bought at a brocante. Gothic elements abound - love that hat!!! Plus the key, the stonework al sit well together. Don't overlook the damask type elements that make wonderful background building elements too. I used that to make a paper with the next set too. As ever, there is a fair bit of crossover between the sets.
ANGEL 2
I love the script coming down across her face, that same script element features on the next set, we squished a whole page from a scientific guide into a small stamp, because I adore tiny script! But this book/guide was printed with a handwritten style of font, very unusual!
Her angel wing is adorable, but you can also see the other elements, like this 'division' stamp, from a mathematics exercise book - I have pinched that stamp from the next set too! I seem to dip in and out of all 3 sets for all the samples in this series! Oops!
In the background layers are the circle stencil, as well as the longer script stamp, stamped in paint at the edges.
ANGEL 1
It might surprise you that this was how the sample above looked when first stamped onto the gel printed background. I could have quite happily left her with the blue and orange contrasts, but she evolved.
But, it is good to show you that I could have left her like this too! There is no need to over-faff when you start with cool gel printed BG's!
While I'm talking about my gel-printed backgrounds, here is my last CRAFTalong from Oct 2026), where I teach how to make gel printed BG's with loads of layers, there are no rules, just fill the gaps and don't expect perfection! If you're interested, come back for a look.
JOURNALLED ANGEL
I am finally almost at the end of my journal, but I kind of had a strong idea for this spread after playing around with the damask stencil. I keep coming back to it and making tweaks.
I started out with the background, then sanded it back heavily (this will be my next CRAFTalong demo), and then stamp0ed the girls, building up around her with other images stamped in black.
I really loved how easy it was to pattern match the stonework below her, which offers an awesome base to this composition. And then I mainly used The Pink Mattint below. I wanted a super-transparent layer. Below you can see some of the stamping on the left page, just to extend out the composition.
Hot Pick 2605 by PaperArtsy (HP2605)
MOTH-PAPILLON
Some Moths are just as beautiful as butterflies, if not more so. I tried to add a few across these stamps, because I also used them in my last 'girl' stamp (HP2602), so I thought these would also come in handy as a nice background for her too.
As you can see, they were stamped again, and layered up on the absolutely incredible background I made with the damask stamp ... it's pretty much neon in its brightness!
SCRAPBOOK PAPER
One of the things I just love to do is make papers. If I don't start by gel-printing, then I start with paint and stamps and layers, and I love how this little bold stamp in coral, looks so cool on this backing paper.
Up close you get a better sense of the details that are all stamped using paint on stamps - yes you CAN do that!
CORRESPONDENCE
This is pretty much an A4 sample, and the bottom most layer is another stencilled BG using PS544 below. Onto that is some ledger paper, painted so that the handwritten ledger penwork still shows through.
Those butterflies are pretty as embellishments, they are a timeless element I have often used in my crafty projects for 3 decades! And you can also see the stapled embellishment at the edges of the project.
The top layer is quarter of a gel printed sheet, which is then also stamped with elements from the new stamp set, words and that cool date line from 1848, not sure they made art like this back then! And as you will realise as you scroll, the face stamp is actually from the next stamp set!
Hot Pick 2606 by PaperArtsy (HP2606)
BIRD MAIL
First up you might notice the circles stamp is also the circles stencil below (PS542) which I adore so much! You will see why soon! But this little bird makes for a great ephemera element, I can totally imagine it in sepia in a vellum pocket!
POSTCARD BIRD
Another of those gel printed background makes a quick card with the addition of the cute flourish and some scripty black stamping.
Can you spot the little angels in blue - they really pop once colour is added!
DREAMER
When you stamp this image in black and white, you will notice the shading on the side of her face really makes her jawline more obvious. I used a plum to really accentuate it, and compared to other samples, it can really change the face, so take note where the shadows go!
Her eyelashes are divine, and the butterflies are back, on her face, and as part of the design.
PALE FACE
To highlight the difference, you can see I used opaque paints on her face. She went through a number of colour ways, and in the process, the shadow-guide was lost. So I stamped some script over her face. I think I should use the other sample as an example, and bring some of that angular jaw back! She does look too rounded!
Little details, the number rectangle, adding white paint to her eyes, colour to the pupil.
Hot Picks Stencils
PaperArtsy Stencils {Regular}
Price: RRP €5.64 + VAT
Regular Size: 6.5" x 7" (16 x 18cm)
Robust 250 micron mylar designed to offer longevity, deep texture and easy clean up
PaperArtsy Stencil 542 (PS542)
This also needs to be a live or a demo! A brayered background became something special. With some clever layering of colour, so, how do you think it was done? And which colours!?
I put this sample on top of a section of that background, and then added The Squeezed Mattint onto each of the circles.

PaperArtsy Stencil 543 (PS543)
NEON DAMASK
Flipping gorgeous isn't it!!! When you get the right colours, tadaaaa! Bougainvillea, Tango, Bermuda and a bit of Slimed. Lots of sanding back, and then the white script from HP2605 over the top and it looks like an awesome paper! It is a strip of this that went under the 4 butterflies in the sample above. So it is no longer 12x12" ... I have cut it down!
This is still kind of bright, but it doesn't have to be! The same idea in soft Blues and browns would be gorgeous too!
But it is all the stamping in the background that makes things look more dimensional.
BARK
This stencil kind of reminds me of bark. Initially it was a stamp on EPA06, quite a small background stamp, but I knew I wanted it as a stencil, so here it is. Just useful in journalling
And here is the background as it emerged, look how cool the paper looks with the addition of some ink and more stamping!
A reminder of the sample, but it is nice to see the card layer from underneath too!
PaperArtsy Printed Tissue: Postcard People
Printed Tissue {Postcard People} by PaperArtsy (PT15)
Price: RRP €4.20 +VAT
Size: 30" x 20" (67 x 47 cm) 4 per pack
Printed with permanent ink, will not bleed when you add wet media. To increase tissue strength, coat with Matte Glaze on a non stick surface, let dry, then apply a second layer of Matte Glaze to adhere tissue to your preferred surface (card, wood, paper, fabric etc). The more liquid the glue, the more easily the tissue will disappear.
We have collected and bought vintage postcards from flea markets in France, probably for the last 25 years, ever since we would come to France for family holidays when the kids were tiny (this was well before we had the business). These postcards really appealed to me, I had not seen anything like them in New Zealand!
Before PaperArtsy launched, I used to teach classes in the local village hall in the UK with 3 other ladies each month. Jo/ JoFY would come to those (that's how we first met), and we sold ephemera sheets, both as collage sheets, and as image transfer sheets. We would use them to make 'Altered Books' and had round robin swaps each month. This whole category has now morphed into the wider concept of 'mixed media', but its funny that we used to sell these images well before we were even a company making stamps, and they STILL appeal to me now, so I hope you too will like them, and find numerous ways to use them.
Some of those images re-feature again here!
I am amazed at the quality of this print job. They have used a LOT of ink, and to get tissue to dry and still hold a lot of ink is basically miraculous! I am extremely impressed with this product! Yes, of course you could use it to wrap things, but, we do love a product that has more than one use!
I gave all my people names on their pages of this junk journal (I am only showing a smidge here, you will need to watch the LIVE in PaperArtsy People to see the entire book). Some are real people, some are representative of the era; models who were in high demand, or budding movie stars trying to get more recognition. When collecting now, I often will find a series of cards of the same person in different poses.
There are also some of the stamps on my ledger paper, that I adore! So it is not JUST people on this tissue, we mixed in a few other elements. Not how once glued with PaperArtsy Matte Glaze, the image completely sinks into the receiving card.
Application technique 1, for coloured tissue, or when you want the tissue to 'sink in':
- soak the receiving card with Matte Glaze
- apply one layer of Matte glaze to the top side of the tissue (this leaves the back side still 'dry' and therefore easier to handle when positioning)
- apply another coat of Matte glaze to the receiving surface (especially if the glaze has sunk into the card) ... which it will have, it needs to be wet and shiny all over
- position your tissue, (you should be able to re-position if necessary), use a soft wide brush to apply the tissue. Be gentle, if you brush is rough of if you are too rough, you will tear holes in the tissue.
- you can dry this with a heat tool, not need to wait !
Note a Glue: Runny glue sinks into the tissue, this needs to happen to eliminate any white 'bloom' If you get a white bloom, then your glue was not runny enough. This is more noticeable on coloured tissue than on white. I would not recommend (for coloured tissue) matte gel mediums, glue stick or Mod Podge type products
Note b Mattints: Mattints are MATTE GLAZES, ie they are tinted versions of our Matte Glaze. So any coloured Mattint can be used as a glue to adhere tissue. Glow, Ash, Nutty all look great with these coloured tissues, Squeezed looks amazing with Mag's Rusty Bits Tissue, the soft tint will enhance the printed colour to add depth.
Application Technique 2, for white tissue, or when you want to add colour with a different product (especially watercolours)
Think about what you want to do next once the tissue is adhered. If you want to add watercolours, then you do not really want the top/exposed layer of tissue to be sealed by a glue. It is going to be much easier to colour it in with watercolours if you have just the fluffy top layer available for the watercolour to grab onto. So in this case
- Apply glue stick, gel medium to the receiving surface, kraft paper, manilla tags, journal covers, smoothy card. Again, make sure the layer of glue is generous.
- Press your tissue into the glue, if it is a glue stick, you may like to use a brayer to press it firmly into the card, or take a piece of waxed kraft (PaperArtsy Crunchy) and rub the piece all over.
- Let dry, depending on the glue, you may or may not be able to apply heat.
- Now colour with your chosen medium, eg wtercolours
As you can see, I made a junk journal using vintage invoices, I even used some of the ledger paper from the book I present my lives on each month. Can't stroke, must use it up!!
And I included some of the reverse sides of the postcards too, because it just made sense!
The couple in this image are from one of our original ephemera packs! So how fitting, 26 years later, I am still able to use and create art with a product made and printed over a quarter of a century ago. I can honestly say, never in a million years thought that when I asked some guy called 'Kevin' to print my ephemera sheets, they would still be used in 2026 in France in a project!
That is very cool!
Well, what a bonanza of a release week it has been! I know you have found all the releases so inspirational, because emails are pouring in, as are messages on socials, please do take time to let us know, it is so cool to hear from you direct!
Take care, and we'll see you again next month!

We think it makes sense to order within your own country, then you are not having to navigate excessive freight costs, and we know everyone has everything in stock now!
