2019 Topic 1: Mustard
Josefine's project tonight is a brilliant example of how leftover paint and some clever outlining can transfom an art journal page using stencils and brayers. Stockist info for all the new 2019 products are available here.
Hi everyone, Josefine here and today's art journal page is very colorful. I decided to pair the Fresco Finish paint Mustard with Cerise as well as with one of the latest Seth Apter stamps, a stencil by Darcy and some other Fresco Finish paints.
I'm really into bright colours lately and love all the variety of colours that the Fresco Finish paints come in. They just make everything 'happy'. So, I started with one of my clean up pages and ended with this magical wonderland.
This is what the page looked like at the beginning. It's a clean up from a mono printing project where I used Fresco Finish paints in Mustard Pickle (FF148), London Bus (FF37), Vintage Lace (FF18) and Mermaid (FF44) for a tag. As a first step, I added Cerise (FF136) and more Mustard Pickle using a brayer. Of course, that makes orange! Using primary colours to make others is always fun and easy with a brayer!
Then I stamped a variety of circles and postage stamps from Seth Apter's set ESA07 and Scrapcosy's set ESC16.
To pull everything together, I used Fresco Finish paint in Snowflake (FF15) and Vintage Lace and brayered those two colors all over the page.
Once I was done with the background I grabbed the PS104 stencil and added the mushrooms to the page. I used Mustard Pickle as the base and blended a little bit of Cerise to the heads of the mushrooms.
Then I added more Mermaid around the mushrooms and outlined them with a black fine liner.
After adding the birds from the same stencil and a short sentiment, I also added a few circles from Seth Apter's latest stamp set ESA12. They had to fit to the page, so I used again Mustard Pickle and Cerise, created an ombre effect on my craft mat and used that as the ink pad for the different circles from that set.
At the end the page had something magical, even with the more mechanical looking images from Seth's set. Color can really change how we perceive certain things and it's so much fun to experiment with that.
What fairy tale project are you going to create next?
Thanks so much for stopping by! Don't forget to come back often as there are so many great projects, sneak peeks and stamp reveals waiting for you.
