NEW PaperArtsy Products: January 2019 {Seth Apter}

 Eclectica³ Collection {Seth Apter}
January 2019 New Product Announcement

A note from Leandra:
The nicest guy in the world, paint and texture guru, Seth Apter, continues to share with us new stamps created from his own photographed elements of favourite objects and the type of ephemera he gravitates to when creating art. He is rather partial to a rusty thing or two, and in this release, he has curated rectangular and round objects onto 2 themed plates.Plus a new format for Seth - minis! Very handy indeed!

Hi everyone, Seth Apter here.

I'm super excited to share with you my newest release for PaperArtsy. 2 stamps and 8 minis, which are credit card sized stamps, in case you were wondering!

The two new sets may be titled ESA11 and ESA12 but I think of these sets as my found object collections. Each design was created from an object from my assortment of finds. As for the minis, I am extra-excited as these are my first releases in this format. The images have been taken from both my original artwork and photography. I think that they are the perfect size for so many uses - from ATCs to cards to journal pages to artwork.

Over the next day or so, we will be sharing ideas with my newest products by myself and another of PaperArtsy's lovely talented bloggers. Plus as we are at Creativation, if you are following me and PaperArtsy on our socials you will see lots of live streams from Creativation where these products are currently being launched to retailers. So of course, you can see plenty of ideas on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest. So no matter what your preferred social media platform, we will be sharing with you! Happy New Year!

Let's start with some ideas with each of the new products.

  New Stamps
Price: RRP £18.74 +VAT
Size:5" x 6" (13 x16.5cm)
All stamps are individually trimmed onto cling foam, presented in a clear hanging bag
with a laminated storage/index sheet.

Eclectica³ ESA11

RENEW

I created Renew using 4 of the stamps from ESA11 (plus one from ESA12). This piece was actually inspired by a cool new building that I had recently seen in NYC.

It was created to highlight the fact that many of the stamps in this set can be used as frames to include text or artwork within the borders.

I used all the stamps with embossing powders from Emerald Creek Craft Company to create texture as a contrast to the metallic shine in the piece.

IMAGINE

I used three different stamps from ESA12 as focal points in Imagine. Several also serve as frames but my goal was to see if the stamped, found object elements were strong enough to  be the star of the show. And with these two pieces here, I do believe they are.

One of my favorite aspects to these stamps are the imperfections of the designs.

Like true distressed found objects, they have uneven sides, gaps and a bit of a rough look.

Eclectica³ ESA12

REVOLUTION

Anybody who knows me, knows that I love found objects. If you have followed me for some time now, you also know that I love circles. So what could be better than found object circles? ESA12 includes nine circle stamps and all nine have been used in Revolution.

The circles in this set were deliberately created in different sizes so that you could create circles within circles within circles. The circles can also serve as frames and the spaces and gaps are perfect to add colors contrasting with the background.

Eclectica³: Seth Apter - Minis

PaperArtsy have a bunch of stamps in this format within various collections and genres in their extensive catalogue. Minis are a fun size to use, particularly to fill gaps. I often will ink and use them without an acrylic block to create random background texture. But, I have made a few that can also be focal points too, so there are plenty of options for you to explore!

Eclectica³ EM33

Woodgrain

The design of EM33 is based on a background painting that was created to mimic a distressed, striated woodgrain effect. I think this would make an amazing background, especially when stamped repeatedly to create a continuous woodgrain effect.

Eclectica³ EM34

Twine

EM33 is taken from an original photograph of wrapped, overlapping twine. This stamp really captures a dimensional effect and adding some contrasting colors with markers in between the overlapping segments would really make the image pop.

Eclectica³ EM35

Reflective Chevron

The design for EM35 came directly from a detail of my own artwork that was then digitally modified. I love the mirror image effect that was part of the original art. I can see using this stamp unmounted so that just bits and pieces of the lines are used to add a detail to your background. Might be fun to journal between the lines too.

Eclectica³ EM36

Packaged

Also based on my own artwork, EM36 can stand alone as focal point or be used as a small detail in a larger work of art. The broken marks that make up the majority of this stamp allow your background to show through and be highlighted.

Eclectica³ EM37

The Hand

Don't tell the other stamps, but EM37 might be my favorite of the bunch. This silhouette of a hand seems simple but has a big impact. I can see using this stamp over and over again.

Eclectica³ EM38

Brick Wall

The design of EM38 was created from a photograph of one of my favorite subjects: old walls. This wall is a distressed, brick wall that was very textured. I love how the stamp almost has an ombre effect, morphing from less to more detailed from top to bottom.

Eclectica³ EM39

Eye Seek

EM38 was drawn (pun intended) from one of my artworks. I think the stamp really draws (pun intended) the viewer, with the eye being a strong focal point. Once again, the broken up details in the stamp allows for the background to show through and the open element under the eye is perfect for journaling.

Eclectica³ EM40

Bullseye

EM40 is the one design hybrid from this collection. While it is based on a detail from my own original art, a good number of the elements were drawn digitally. I made the decision to use my non-dominant hand for that to keep the design loose.

Thank you all for reading through the post and seeing my newest releases. I certainly hope you have been inspired and I cannot wait to see all the creative and unique ways these stamps are used in your work. And keep an eye out on new artwork from me as well, as I know for sure that many of these designs will appear and reappear.

Scrumptious new stamps - those found objects are too cool, especially done with the embossing powder, so you really see the fabulous distressed look of the objects. Great release and great samples - looking forward to seeing what else people have been up to with these beauties.
