Abstract Coasters {with Eclectica³ Ellen Vargo Stamps by Jo Myhill}

Hello everyone, Jo back again with a home decor idea using Lin Brown stencil, Ellen  Vargo stamps and of course Fresco acrylic paints.

I've always been a great fan of William Morris, his design, his philosophy of supporting arts and crafts artisans and concepts and especially his mantra (to paraphrase); "only have in your house what is useful or beautiful".  I like to make things I can see, not just stuck away in an art journal or a box, but I'm running out of wall space so the idea of coasters came into my head.

Using an 8x8" square of Heavy Grey-White board I painted an even layer of Very Berry  paint, followed by a dry brush layer of Blood Orange.  I then stamped in the Backgrounds Plate 6 text stamp in Cranberry Adirondack ink all over the board.

Once this was dry I used the Lin Brown 001 Stencil with Irish Cream.  Once dry I used a brown watercolour pencil to scribble round some of the circles. I stamped the rounded Gothic cross from the new EEV008 Ellen Vargo stamps in Ginger Adirondack.  Its very subtle but adds a layer.

Finally I stamped the small circles from Ellen Vargo EEV06 in Potting Soil Archival and the cogs from the same plate in Maroon Archival.

I then cut the 8x8" in four 4x4 squares, added some cork to the bottom (you could use felt). rubbed Renaissance Treasure Gold around the edges and finally added a number of layers of Gloss Glaze to protect the paint and stamping. 

This was an experiment, but it turned out really well, I love the colour scheme and the different circle shapes from the stencilling and stamping.  Umm perhaps some table mats might work ....
