GD: Penny Nuttall Project #3 Art Doll No 3

"Hello all, Penny here and welcome back for Art Doll No 3. The unofficial affectionate title for this has become "The Purple Popcorn Stand"... But it is really much more elegant than that"!

I started with a 4"x4" box canvas. I wanted a deeper recess than just using it backwards so I tried cutting into the front to see what was inside.

Perfect .... a brilliant recessed shrine!

I glued the cut out piece on the back to cover the hole. Nothing wasted!

I painted it my fave colour of the week ... Antarctic Fresco, and filled in the middle with

Eggplant.

I dabbed on some Grunge Paste with a palette knife for a bit of texture, when dry, rubbed I on a "glaze" of Amethyst with a baby wipe.

Next a  bit of building ... Two cotton reels, two chopsticks and a Prima Wood Bellies Rulers (I said right at the beginning that I have a strange brain). (Why chopsticks?- see my blog) Let the assembley begin:

The set of stamps used this time is from LPC028.

I stamped the script onto the painted ruler and the top of the shrine box using

Black Archival Ink. My choice again for the face in all its detail was a Manila Tag, with just a little colouring, and a second face cut out and applied for just enough lift.

To give strength, I glued two lollypop sticks to the back of the figure as support and fixed to the shrine.

The finishing touches: Two plant stands, a miniature glass bottle in the recess, some Prima paper flowers at either side of the figure and in the recess, a pearl button, and lastly green wire with paper leaves twined round the chopsticks. (That bit of green just did it dont you think?)

Leandra Says: Let's face it, perhaps we could embrace the purple popcorn stand and switch out the green leaves for threaded popcorn! I dare you! Perhaps a little bucket of popcorn in the niche!!??? LOL
