Hanging Board {with Eclectica³ Lin Brown Stamps & Stencils by Sue Carrington}

Hello it's Sue here and tonight I'm sharing a little project on one of the versatile Chunky Hanging Boards. 

I started by cutting off the string on a chunky hanging board and then covering it with paper from the Chatsworth collection.

I then used the new Lin Brown stencil ELB002 with Snowflake Fresco Finish paint, using a stencil brush to apply the paint.

 I then used a baby wipe with Chartreuse, Hey Pesto and a little Chutney just around the edges.

I'm still liking the idea of a tiled effect, which was the theme in my project last month. This time I used a piece of card for a straight edge and a small paint brush and dry brushed Chutney along the edge of the card.

I wanted to stencil a group of flowers but didn't want the stencilling to fight with each other, so I then thought maybe I could use a mask ? I drew around the inside of the flower on the Lin Brown ELB 004 stencil on to a Post it Note and then cut it out. After I'd stencilled my first flower, using Moonlight, Pansy and Eggplant, I then masked it off and stencilled again.

As you can see it worked really well ! I then decided that the third flower needed more dimension, so I used Grunge Paste but made sure there was plenty of depth and texture. When it was dry I used a very fine detail paint brush and painted it with the same colours as the stencilled flowers, drying each layer before moving on to the next. 

 I only used the darker colours towards the centre of the flower.

I then took a piece of mount board and drew around a scallop shape and cut it out. 

I covered it with another piece of paper from the Chatsworth collection and stencilled the leaves using the Lin Brown ELB006 stencil. I then gave it a coat of watered down Chartreuse.

Before I glued the scallop piece to the bottom of the Chunky Board I stamped the sentiment from the ELB05 stamp set. I wanted to see a sentiment from whatever direction I looked at the project.

 On the left hand side I stamped the first half of one of the sentiments from the ELB 06 set.

 On the right hand side I stamped the second half !

 The sentiment on the top is also from the ELB 06 set.

The sentiment on the front is from the same set too. I kept the embellishments to a minimum, painting them with Fresco finish paint.

A huge thanks to Sue from PaperArtsy, such a beautiful and inventive way to use the hanging board, in a non-hanging way! Those purples are stunning against Lin's limited edition colours, and the masking off worked really well. It is a great technique for creating depth.
