NEW PaperArtsy Products: Eclectica³ Seth Apter {February 2022}

A note from Leandra:
This next series of 3 stamps from Seth reflects in abstract form elements rerpresenting the paths we choose to take, the journeys we travel as we experience life and all its twists and turns. I love the textures and symbols that Seth offers up, they seem to chime with us all in so many interesting ways. I hope you find something within these that speaks to you too.

We will have Seth sharing these stamps live in PaperArtsy People shortly after this post publishes. It's so meaningful to hear from the designer and understand the ins and outs of their new stamps, so I really hope you can catch Seth either LIVE or on the replay.

Remember, these stamps are available EXCLUSIVELY from our approved stockists for the next 3 months. We have already been shipping to them the past couple of weeks, so watch for the shop links in Seth's live to find a store ready to ship now!

Hi gang.

It's Seth Apter here and I am back with my newest release from PaperArtsy. Hoping you are all well and thanking each of you who have taken the time to visit the blog and read through this post.

I am always excited to share my new designs and to see how you all will use them in your own unique ways. As designers, we typically submit our work many moons in advance of release day so that by the time we can actually show them to you, we are nearly ready to burst. And this current release of 3 new stamps sets is no exception.

All of my stamp designs were created with the theme of Journeys in mind. No doubt, this was influenced by my lack of journeying during the pandemic. Happily we creatives can go anywhere by using our imaginations. And speaking of imagination, the Journeys reflected in this collection are as likely to reflect internal wanderings as much as actual travel. Of course in addition to the deeper meaning, the designs are also simply about grunge, layering, and design detail.

Price: RRP €21.92 +VAT     Size:5" x 6" (13 x16.5cm)
All stamps are individually trimmed onto cling foam with a laminated storage/index sheet.

Eclectica³ Seth Apter Set 28 (ESA28)

Creating and posting my mixed media art allows me to share my story across the entire globe. I hope to take the viewer on their own journey as they explore the details in the work.

As is true with nearly all my PaperArtsy stamps, ESA28 includes words and phases, as well as grungy images that can be used for both abstract focal points and background layering. With 8 stamps in this set, this gives you a lot of variety and options. my designs include wordsComment on, zoom in on a detail

This detail shot shows elements of 5 different stamps from this set that were used in this one piece of art. Not quite sure how it took me 28 sets before I have a stamp that actually says Mixed Media...but I know that I will use this over and over again. And while the stamped image under those words here is a representation of a train track, when placed vertically, as in the artwork below, it becomes an abstracted version of a ladder - also something that takes you from one place to another.

I always try to build in the option to use my stamps in a variety of ways so that they can more readily reflect your own creative voice. As an example, this piece includes design elements from only portions of several of the stamps rather than the stamps as a whole.

Eclectica³ Seth Apter Set 29 (ESA29)

ESA29 also contains 8 stamps, each of which reflects the concept of Journeys in an abstract form. Creating artwork often takes me to the past as much as it focuses on the present and my Journey through time is reflected in the vintage stamp from this set.

Once again, one of the stamps was used in pieces rather than as a whole so that it became a series of completely unique design elements.  And take note that the word vintage can easily become the word age.

The concept of traveling through the Journeys of our own lifetime has also been captured in a number of the stamps from this set.

One of the stamps was meant to be an abstract version of the sun - rising and setting as time passes in our lives. But it also has been seen as a nest with eggs, reflecting the beginning of our Journey in life.

Of course as we travel through the times of our lives and start on a series of Journeys, they all begin with a single step.

And of course we need a stamp with numbers to count our steps, mark the time, number our adventures, and both count up and count down.

My work of late has included a good number of nature elements, sometimes literal and sometimes quite abstract. These typically symbolize growth to me and needed to appear somewhere in a collection about Journeys.

Once again, aiming for versatility, these elements can also be seen as abstracted paths or even old school TV antennas. Or simply bits and pieces to add to your background.

Eclectica³ Seth Apter Set 30 (ESA30)

For my 30th set (!) I decided to return to old favorite - circles. To me, circles are symbolic of so many things including transformation and infinity with no beginning and no end.

Also included in this set is a phrase that has meaning for many and certainly makes a statement about the consequences of the way we choose to navigate the world.

And because time goes on and we all have Journeys that we still would like to go on, maybe no word sums this all up better than ETCETERA.

I have used a few portions of stamps from the other sets to complete this piece and even added my own ship at the bottom to take me on all the Journeys of my life.

 Fresco Paints
Price: RRP €4.58 +VAT
Size: 50 ml

Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paints are a matte finish paint, with opacity varying from translucent, semi-opaque or opaque (see the hand-painted chevron on each bottle).

These paints are low VOC, UV resistant, clean up in water and suitable for indoor and outdoor use, as well as perfect for all manner of surfaces: fabric, wood, card, paper, chipboard, leather and more.

They do not require an undercoat, these are chalk based, therefore every option is like a coloured gesso; the opacity determines the level of coverage. Thin with any PaperArtsy glaze to increase the translucency to your preference.

Here is a reminder of the full range of Seth's paint, 28 colours colour.... don't worry there will be additions in 2022, we are working on them!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read through this post and to learn more about my newest stamp release. I hope that they inspire your next creative Journey.

Safe travels........

Seth
