It
is funny how inspiration strikes. Nikki re-interpreted an idea from a
Gwen Lafleur class for this funky tag, creating zones for each of the
different design styles. Colour too makes each section pop perfectly.

Hi everyone, Nikki here today (Addicted to Art) with a colourful and crazy tag for our Stamp Mashing theme!
I
thought this was a great idea for a theme and I love mixing things up a
bit - but my first idea ended up in the bin! I then looked around my
craft room and saw a project I had done on a Gwen Lafleur online
workshop and that immediately inspired me.
On
Gwens's workshop she shared a technique of creating patches of colour
and then using different stencils within each area. While my outcome is
somewhat different - this is what I have done here in the background. I
sketched out some areas and painted, before stamping each section with
stamps from 3 of the stamp sets.
I used 4 colours: Bougainvillea, Azure, Willow and Summer Sky
and stamp sets...
and FP012. |
I
added some black pen around each section of the background. As I wasn't
confident getting my stamping where I wanted it I stamped some images
on tissue paper - the vertical line from ESA15, the world images from
FP012 and the postmark from VID10. This then gave me the opportunity to
play with the composition prior to adhering!
As
the background was so busy I kept the focal image of the clock/butterly
in black and white (except for some splatters) and used the swirl from
ESA15 (dissected!) to add the circles to create a sort of pendulum
under the clock.
A few credit card paint lines, some splatters. some edging and some extra numbers to balance the composition finished my tag!
This
mashing up is a great idea, give it a go. Select a few stamp sets and
make yourself just use them, nothing else. Don't be afraid to stamp
images and dissect them like I have (the head on the clock has gone and
the different sized circles are all from the same stamp.) Its good for
creativity even if my first attempt ended in the bin.
