It's funny how you tend to imagine Scrapcosy's products in vintage tones. So it's a real surprise when someone pulls out the colour bucket and takes them into a totally new palette direction! Corrie has achieved this perfectly, and it has certainly opened up the possibilities to make these beautiful design zing with a Spring vibe! Also love how the little white lines on the corner detail from Raquel's stencil PS190 really add dimension (see cover photos at the foot of the post)

Hi everyone, it's Corrie here with you today, and I'd like to share with you a tag book that I made with the new stamps by Scrapcosy. They are fabulous and I really enjoyed putting this together.

I decided to use my gel press plate for making the backgrounds of my tags and also for the little book cover they are stored in.

This is what is inside the book: 

I used rainbow colours because I really love them together. Mother nature knows best! Anyway with the next photos I will show you how I made this. It was lovely to use the gel press plate again and it reminded me how easy it is to make nice backgrounds.

First I cut out some tag shapes out of Smoothy Heavy Card stock. I keep one bought tag in my stash which I use as a template for all my #8 tags. Obviously you could also use a die. 

I started with the blue tag using Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics in the colours {Blue Oyster} and {Smurf}. I used the circles of stencil {PS191} to add some interest. I did the same thing for all tags but used different colours.

I used lots of different colours of Fresco Chalk Acrylics and these are the colours I used : For the green tag: {Teresa Green} and {Granny Smith}
For the yellow tag: {Vanilla}, {Zesty Zing} and {Mustard Pickle}
For the orange tag: {Mustard Pickle} and {Tango}
For the red tag: {Cayenne} and {Red Lipstick}

 

To give the tags some more interest I added some stamping and stencilling. I used the sentiment stamps with black Archival ink {Jet Black}  along the edges because I quite like the look of that and I also like using stamps in a different way. I then added Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic paint in {Little Black Dress} with my finger where the black stamping was. I also used the dot stamp with similar colours of Distress Oxide Inks. I then added some stencilling {PS190} and Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic in {Snowflake}.

Next I stamped the focal images for my tags, choosing which one would go on which tag. I used sets {ESC19} and {ESC20} by Scrapcosy. I did swap some of them because they looked nicer on a different tag after colouring. I also added some white splatters with a white paint pen. 

As always I coloured the images with Copic Markers and then cut them all out. I was now ready to put the tags together. This is the nicest bit, when you see it all come together.

I like how this project came together and enjoyed making each and every tag. I added a little bit of doodling with a black pen and lined the back of the tags with design paper so they look good front and back. After clipping them together with a book ring I called them done.

I love the colours together. But I was not finished yet because I wanted to make a little book/cover for the tags to keep them in and of course there was still one rainbow colour missing: purple. 

I printed all the parts (which I made measuring the tags and then just making it up as I go along) on the gel press plate again. I used my brayer to roll over some more paint on the cover. Of course I used Fresco Finish Chalk acrylics again. This time I used {Periwinkle}, {Forget me not} and {Lavender}. I used another tag to make the closure of the book. 

Again I used stamp set {ESC20} by Scrapcosy and stencil {PS190} also by Scrapcosy. I inked up some of the edges to make them stand out more and added some Inktense Purple pencil around the circle on the front. Lastly I added some black paint splatters with a paint pen.

This is what it looks like when the book is closed. I added some Baker's twine (who remembers bakers twine ?? lol) and some beads because I liked the look of it. 

When the book is open you see this, I lined the inside of the cover and the closing tag with pages from an old book. I did brayer over some more Fresco Chalk paint, this time {Snowflake} to push back the letters a little. 

I really like doing these projects with the fabulous PaperArtsy products because quite often they push you out of your comfort zone. We all tend to stick to what we know and sometimes it is just great to try something new. For me it was making the book, I don't often make books and didn't really know where to begin. In the end I just made a start and it worked out great. So, try something new and if you are unsure there are often great tutorials available on YouTube. Don't be put off !
