2019 Topic 7: Turquoise
Jennie's
chunky yet dreamy ATC is full of so many different ideas and
techniques, you'd think it should be a 'busy' project. Yet with hints of
texture and keeping a mostly neutral colour scheme, she's allowed
Turquoise to have the starring role in a real keepsake project.
Hi everyone, it's Jennie (Live the Dream) with
you today, sharing a really chunky ATC using masses of texture, my
greatly loved Infusions and topped off with two very meaningful quotes.
I love creating on ATCs but sometimes the space can be a bit limited, so when I saw these chunky MDF ones I knew that I could extend my design around the sides and onto the back. I have recently been experimenting with texture crackle over tissue tape and then adding watery Infusions to settle into all the wonderful crackle. The result is a really textured finish reminiscent of old flaking paint as the tissue tape resists the crackle.

In addition to Alison's quotes on EAB03 Music and Silence, I have also used some small stamps from Scrapcosy's ESC03 and added texture using Stencil PS049.
I loved that I could wrap my tissue tape around the sides of the ATC. I have created lots of layers of tape and then stamped over the top. Remember to do this with Archival Ink or the ink will disappear once the Infusions are added.
I layered Golden Crackle Paste with a palette knife so it is random and once it had dried went in with the A Bit Jaded Infusions using plenty of water. This means mopping up a lot of the colour whilst blasting with a heat gun.
Already you can see where the tissue tape is resisting the crackle and Infusions.
There are always opportunities for adding more texture...this time with Ranger Texture Paste through a stencil.
I wanted some wrap around flowers so used a die to cut these from turquoise paper. This was really too light, so I coloured them with the Jade Infusions. I love the added colour tones.
I then embossed them - and wished I hadn't! I was disappointed to lose the lovely tones of colour and it made them harder to glue onto the ATC as they were so stiff.
I added a few simple embellishments to finish the project.
It
was great fun creating a wrap around design and I kept it simple by
utilising the same products. It certainly changes the dynamics of the
project and how one works. I hope I have inspired you with a new
technique to try as well.

Absolutely beautiful, Jennie - the crackle tape technique shines forth again, with a wonderful aged look to display the soft turquoise florals and perfect words.
