2018 Topic 22: Clean and Simple Christmas Ideas
Super-Fun
idea from Corrie for any Zinski fan! In particular, ideal gift for for a
busy person in your life, or maybe an elderly relative who might like
some handmade cards to share this Christmas. How thoughtful! A single
Elena's stamp set stretches a long way for this post! ~ Leandra
Hi everyone, it's Corrie with
you today, and I'd like to share a project that I think, would make a
great Christmas gift; I would love to receive something like this.
I
chose to make a box with six C&S cards inside. The box itself is
not particularly C&S but the cards inside are. At least I think they
are. This was quite a challenge for me because I am more a Mixed Media
person but I also think it is good to do something that is out of your
comfort zone sometimes.
This is the box with the cards. I have used designer paper for the lid and some of PaperArtsy's fabulous {Smoothy card} for the bottom bit. I did embellish the box because I thought just a C&S box would be boring.
This
is how I started out. I cut a piece of Smoothy card stock to 18.2 x
23.2 cm and scored 3 cm all around. This piece is for the bottom of the
box. The lid was made the same way, just cut slightly bigger at 18.4 x
23.4 cm but also scored at 3 cm all around.
Here
is the finished paper box. I did embellish with ribbon and some
chipboard snowflakes. I also made a little label which says ho! ho!
ho!.
So
when I had finished this I started on the cards to go into the box. I
made six of them and used different materials to colour the images so
you can see the difference. Here is the first one. I have no WIP photos
because they are really simple to replicate.
On a piece of Kraft card I stamped this lovely Father Christmas from the Zinksi {ZA33} set. Isn't he great ! I coloured him with coloured pencils because I like how they look on Kraft!
This
card is similar but I have coloured Santa with Copic Markers and to me
this is so much easier and quicker. I used dies to cut out my panels and
just layered them onto a white card base. I did add some washi tape to
add more interest. (I did say I wasn't very good at C&S).
The
third card in my box is this water coloured one. I stamped these lovely
girls on watercolour paper and then used my watercolour paints to give
them some colour. I had forgotten how much I enjoy water colouring ! I will use them more in future.
This card was made with another of Elena's fabulous characters from the {ZA33}
set. I stamped her on Smoothy Card stock and coloured her with
watercolour markers (Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers). I then cut her
out; I did this because I wanted to place her on a cluster of pattern
paper, washi tape and the sentiment. I really like the non-traditional
look of this card !
This
card was made entirely of Kraft card stock, although one being darker
than the other. I started with die cutting the heart out of the panel
and stamping the girl onto this heart. I coloured her with Copic
Markers. I had never coloured on Kraft with Copics and I was amazed at
how good it looks ! I adhered the heart to the card and then added the
rest of the panel with dimensional adhesive. I did add the sentiment and
the chipboard stars before gluing it down.
This
is the last of the six cards. I started with cutting out the windows
out of the panel. I then stamped the girls and coloured them with Copic
Markers. Next I cut them out and cut them apart before placing them
behind the windows. I also cut some design paper to go behind the girls.
I think this looks fabulous. Lastly I added the twine.
I used one stamp set for all these cards;{ZA33} by Elena Guzinski, aren't they fabulous !
Although
I felt really pushed out of my comfort zone and it took me longer than
any Mixed Media project, I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the water
colouring. I think the cards are great and once you know what you are
doing it doesn't take too long to actually do it. I will probably take
this on board when making Christmas cards next year. Also, I think it is
a great idea to give a box of cards as a present, be it for Christmas
or a different occasion. Everybody always needs cards to send !
I
hope you enjoyed my post today and give C&S Christmas a go yourself
! It could easily apply to any project, not just cards !
Thank you so much for stopping by today ! I hope you will visit me in my other locations too!
