2018 Topic 10: Paper Dolls
Loving the gorgeous pops of colour and how Kate has dressed up her Lynne Perrella girls in this post! ~Leandra
Kate
here, sharing a paper doll themed journal layout. As a child I loved
playing with paper dolls. At one point, I made my own, stapling the
clothes to the poorly constructed bodies. The world of stamping has
created so many possibilities for those that love paper doll art. Lynne
Perrella stamps are my go-to stamps for making paper dolls due to her
quirky and unusual style.
My
background was one of those pages that I put aside for another time.
After several attempts with no success I gave up on it and it went in
the drawer. Thankfully, it turned out to be the perfect background for
this project. I used various stencils, embossing, and Fresco Finish
Paints (Green Patina, London Bus, Orchid, Caramel) in the background.
Lynne Perrella Collection Set 007 (LPC007)
I stamped part of an image on a used tea bags and painted it with Fresco Finish Paints. The crown was painted, cut out and layered on top of the tea bag.
I decided my doll needed some accessories so I made a multi-colored fan with infusions (Are You Cerise, Royal Blood, Frankly Scarlet, Sleight Blue) of feathers to hang off her arm. Lots of threads and a bit of paint created a textured dress.
The best part of making or playing with paper dolls is dressing them up. For this doll I created a headdress using the hand image. Her purse has a face on it so I thought I would keep with the body part theme and use a hand for her headdress.

Don’t forget that making art is supposed to be fun. Try your hand at a paper doll and create an outfit that you would want to wear. I love an excuse to get in touch with my ‘inner little girl,’ to dream and imagine what my fairytale wardrobe would look like. Just make sure to share it with us.
