Every now and then we get one of our bloggers go into fussy-cutting la-la land. This has been mostly something we have come to love and expect from Lauren or Keren. 
With this post, and I'm sure you will agree, Miriam has trumped them both and gone to the OTT dark-side of next-level-cutting....You will NOT believe what she has done with just one stamp of some cobblestones.... please DO read on. This is equal parts superb and totally bonkers! I love our bloggers so much! Nice job Miriam! ~ Leandra

Hi everyone, it's Miriam with you today, and I'd like to share with you a project I have created using the fabulous new Emma Godfrey stamps, EEG26.

 

Most people that know me know just how much I love Portugal - It's my 'go-to' destination to relax.  So you can imagine how excited I was when I found out that Emma had designed stamps based on Portugal.

I chose this technique because I spend hours looking at the tiles and mosaics you find down cobbled, narrow streets.  The mosaics always mesmerise me. And when I saw the background stamp in one of the new sets it brought such wonderful memories back to me.  However, when you first look at the stamp, it does not immediately make you think of mosaics.

Even though I wouldn't say that I have much patience in my crafting, I found that this was a very relaxing technique to create.  It helped me to drift off, thinking of the warm Portuguese sun.

The hardest part of the project was to cut the stamped images out into tiny tiles.... so not very difficult at all - and I hardly noticed the time as I sat catching up on TV shows that I had missed during the week.

The tiles actually looked quite pretty in the small piles that I had put them in.  

The colours of the Fresco Chalk paints reminded me of the small fishing village that I normally stay in when I visit Portugal.  And I wanted to capture the simplicity of this in my work.

It was also lovely to see my mosaics coming together.

I really enjoyed creating this project.  I don't think I have created a mosaic for years - and I had forgotten how much fun it was.  Emma's stamps, combined with the bright, summer colours of Fresco Chalk paints by Seth Apter really brought my memories to life.  The Fresco Chalk Paints that I used were Ocean, Butter, Chocolate Pudding and Sky.

 I hope that I have inspired you to create a Nautical themed project for yourself.  And maybe even a mosaic.  You can see more detail of how I created my nautical canvas by popping over to my blog.  This would also make a great project to create with younger members of the family during the upcoming Easter break.
