We
all know that Keren is a very talented crafter, but there is a common
thread between many of her posts on this blog, and that is acetate. She
often creates projects with clear layers and this created a fascinating
dimension and interesting perspective. So here she is ...the queen of
clear! ~ Leandra
I did a mash up of Darcy's newest sets that work wonderfully together and have all the elements for creating scenes. Her sets are EDY20 & EDY21
I learned several things; always measure your side concertina panels so they are the same height as your front and back ;-) and most importantly, don't choose cheapy acetate without checking it's completely see-through. Mine had a slight tint and whilst it gives a slight dimension, it does cloud the back layers slightly
You'll
love these sets; so much to do with them. Perfect for adding emotion to
journals, changing up colours to make personalised projects and the
very thing for joining in with our Whimsy challenge. I think the little
guy on the front, with a little creative licence, might make everybody's
favourite young wizard, so that's next on my list! They'd be perfect on
little blocks to brighten up my craft room and would make amazing human
bunting too! I did my colouring using Nuvo Aqua Flow pens, but I can't
wait to use them with Fresco paint!
Hi everyone, it's Keren Baker with you today, and I'd like to share with you a whimsical version of a shadowbox.
Under
the dictionary definition of 'whimsy', Darcy's name should definitely
appear! Her stamps are playful, fun, quirky and the epitome of whimsy. I
can't tell you how much fun I had stamping and playing; it reminded me
of all that is good about the creative arts and I wanted to play around
with layers, colours and positioning.

You
can see the layering and how I began to play; not trimming the guy's
feet off, but letting them stick up beyond the box and adding some
hearts too.
The
hearts at the top of the outer frame pulled the whole project together-
I didn't want a fussy frame as the inside is where the action is, and I
wanted it plain so it didn't detract, but it was too plain to not have
some of the inner elements and the stamp sets are full of little details
that add to the playfulness.
If
you want the images to show further up the frame, just add a chunk of
cardstock beneath the image and drag more colour onto it (like the tree
above) so it appears to be part of the scene and it allows you to move
the sizings and create more dimension.
Thanks for joining me, see you next time!
