Wintery Journalling {with LPC Stamps by Alison Bomber}

Hello everyone, Alison (butterfly) here again from Words and Pictures, and delighted to be back with you here at PaperArtsy with some Wintry Journalling today.
This page is created using Lynne Perrella stamps and the colours from the JOFY Limited Edition Set 2 Fresco paint set, with just a couple of extra colours taking part.  The Chalk, Slate and Turquoise combination from the set has a really fresh wintry feel to me - and I even managed to find a place for the Cherry Red in the end!

Let me take you through the stages...  As you know, I'm a texture lover, so the whole thing started from there.  I took a piece of cheesecloth to fit the page, and created a couple of tears within it.  I Gesso'd the page first and pressed the cheesecloth down into that layer rather than use any glue or medium.  And while it was all still wet, I used a natural sponge to apply Grunge Paste.  The sponging creates lots of random texture, with lovely variation and detail.

Over that I applied the Chalk and Slate from the JOFY Limited Edition set, with a hit of Taupe too, to create some shading and shadowing.  I stamped the fabulous postage stamp images from Lynne Perrella 030 onto some of the Waxed Tissue Paper in white.  I blended Watering Can and Coffee Archival inks directly onto the stamp, so that both the Slate and the Taupe were echoed in the stamping.

I then tore the image to create pieces that would fit into the cheesecloth "frames", as well as adding some of the remaining stamped elements around the edges.  I spritzed the leftover paint on my craft mat with some water and used the wrong end of a paintbrush to splatter it across the page.

At this point, I was sort of thinking of sticking to the neutrals, but somehow it looked unfinished.  So out came the Turquoise to create another layer of framing, this time in colour.  In the long run I added just a touch of Inky Pool to give even more depth of colour in certain places.

The Cherry Red adds a hit of contrasting colour: full-on colour in the lips of both women (which have even had a drop of Glossy Accents for added gloss and dimension), and a subtle blush on the cheeks.

The Word Band has Chalk paint filling the lettering, and a sweep of Silver Treasure Gold around the edges, so that it really blends with everything else going on on the page.

In fact, the frosty wintry look is highlighted with Silver Treasure Gold throughout the page, applied with my finger, to give just a hint of icy shimmer over all that Grunge Paste and cheesecloth texture. And there's just a few more splatters of paint - Slate, Turquoise and Chalk - to finish the whole thing off.

So that's my Wintry Journalling for you.  I hope you like it.  Thanks so much for stopping by today - it's always lovely to hear what you think, and I'm so grateful to all of you for your generous comments and feedback here.  See you soon!
Alison.
