GD:Liesbeth Fidder #2 Altered Canvas [Part 1}

"Hi everyone, welcome back, Liesbeth here again. Today I'd like to show you how to make this wall hanging, a canvas. Today the background, tomorrow the flower image and how to finish it".

I started with stamping the women (2x) and the houses from the Lynne Perrella stamp set LPC028 (love it !!) onto thin tissue paper with Black StazOn Ink and tore them out.

I love the surface of the thin, flat canvas 8 x 8 inch.

At the bottom of the canvas, I glued down the images using a thin layer of Golden Regular Gel - Matte

After drying, I stamped some fragments of the map stamp from HotPick Xtra 01 here and there using StazOn Ink Jet Black.

The next layer I did was made with stencils : Mini Specimens and Mini Art Is.. and Fresco Finish Space Cadet and Mermaid as shown. I dried it well.

Then I started to apply colours (Fresco Finish). I watered down every colour I used, just like aquarel paint, starting with Yellow Submarine.

And a layer of watered down Hey Pesto. As you can see I didn't paint everything, I left some areas white/yellow.

And... Beach Hut, most of it at the edges, I kept the faces light.

I thought the background was a little overpowering, so I white washed it by using some watered down Snowflake to soften the background.

To create more layering I used the Art Is.. stencil again to paint some word fragments here and there with Mermaid paint...

... and stamped the text stamp (LPC028) a few times with black ink.

To create some depth, I finished by sponging the edges of the canvas with black ink. The background is ready.

I hope you will join me tomorrow, I will show you how to make a house flower on the canvas!
~Liesbeth~
Leandra Says: it looks beautiful, the images on the tissue blend in so well! Love the painty layers.
Gillian Says: The collaged tissue background looks awesome, love the subtleness of the layered paint. can't wait to see where you go with this tomorrow.
If you would like to join in this week's challenge and play along with Liesbeth's techniques, then do link up your creativity here, and go in the draw to win some PA stamps of your choice! You need to link your entry by 17:00, Sunday July 6th 2014.

Wow, this is gorgeous Liesbeth and I actually loved it before you put the whitewash layer over everything too but of course that would be no good as the background as it would overpower the gorgeous flower to come. Thanks for the detailed layer by layer instructions & photos. They must have taken a lot of time to do.

Hugs
Lesley Xx
