Hi there,Elizabeth here. I’m back to
share a project with all of you. It’s great to be able to pop
back every now and again as I’ve missed doing this. This one is for
Jo Firth Young because I made a sample using her new stamps ( which
are yummy ) using a similar idea. This is a contrast to the original
sample that Jo saw, this one uses lots of bright colours.
I started with an 8 x 8 inch
canvas which I covered with some paper from my stash that looked like
fencing ( or you could paint some smoothy paper with Nougat to give a
nice warm glow in the background ).I then added some watery Mermaid, randomly painting down from the top ( sky ) and some watery Dusty Teal painting up from the base ( ground ) .
Using MN61 and Snowflake
stamp words randomly over the top half of the canvas then stamp the
grasses from JOFY 11 across the base .

I found a picket fence in my
pile of bits and pieces ( I think this may be from model railway
supplies ! ) and painted it with Snowflake .

Using one of the new
JOFY stencils 007 I stencilled the background ( with a green mix of DustyTeal and Hey Pesto ) . I then stamped three large spikey flowers from
JOFY 23 and some smaller spikey flowers from JOFY 12 .

The grasses were painted in with the same green mix that was used on the stencils. I then painted the large spikes with a reddish purple mix of Eggplant and Blood Orange and also filled in the spots on the smaller spikes . The dots on the larger spikes were painted with a paler version of the purple mix ( add Snowflake ) .Wash in the stems with the green mix . When the paint was dry I attached the fence .
Stamp the flowers
from JM 34 onto smoothy card (I use Archival Black ink so that I can
paint over it ) .
JM 34 |
Wash various colours over the flowers . I used
transparent Fresco colours so that the design shows through . I used
the following colours -- Pumpkin Soup ; a mix of Pumpkin Soup and Blood
Orange ; Blood orange ; Eggplant ; Eggplant and Blood Orange ;
Eggplant and Inky Pool and finally Orchid and Blood Orange ( mixed
with a little matte glaze as Orchid is not transparent ) to give a
pink .
I then washed some
more colour over to deepen the colours in some areas – so that I
finally ended up with a range of pinks and purples .
I then stamped and
coloured the Birds ( JM 20 ) , Leaves ( JOFY 12 ) and medium
flowers from JOFY 24 and the Birdhouse (JM 36 ) onto smoothy card, before colouring them with the colours on my palette. All the flowers, leaves etc then had to be cut out ready to be stuck onto the canvas .

I also stamped the Birdhouse (JM 36 ) onto acetate.
I found a small
wooden cut out doll in my stash and painted her with Nougat. I then
traced around her to make a dress and an apron . I painted the dress
with a pink colour made of a mix of Orchid and Blood Orange and then
stamped the flowers from JM 34 onto it . The centers of the flowers
needed darkening and the outer edges of the petals were glazed with
snowflake .
The apron was stamped with the dot and cross stamp from JOFY 24 . I washed a little Beach Hut over the crosses and used a black pen to mark in the ‘stitches’ around the edges . I stuck a little lace to the bottom of the apron and then the dress and apron were ready to stick to the doll.
The Bird house was made
of a sandwich of a birdhouse stamped on card then a Bird and then
the acetate Birdhouse on top . I made the bar that the birdhouse is
hanging from , from a wooden coffee stirrer painted with snowflake and stuck
onto the project .
The Doll was then stuck to the project ( I used a combination of foam pads and pinflair glue to get the right height and good adhesion ) .
Finally I stuck the leaves
on using pinflair glue to give some dimension and then the flowers
and birds - all over the place ! I added a few pearls in the centers
of some of the flowers .
Well that’s all for
tonight but I expect that I will pop up again soon .
Bye for now. Elizabeth.
A huge thank you to Elizabeth from all at PaperArtsy HQ. Ohh my word, this is jaw-droppingly awesome. I desperately want to make one of these. I was lucky enough to see the original dollie piece that was sent for the art boards, that one was gorgeous too. You have a wonderful and natural talent for choosing colour, and colour mixing , and creating the clothing fabric is just genius.
