2021 Topic 2 A Pocketful of ... Photos with Tracy Scott Collection {by Claire Snowdon}

2021 Topic 2: A Pocketful of Photos {by Claire Snowdon}

What a fabulous mini memory album this makes, it would be such a thoughtful gift for someone special, particularly at these times where we can't see each other! Getting this in the post would be such a delight!

Hi everyone, it's Claire Snowdon with you today, and I'd like to share with you a pocketful of photos.  This little book is made from just one 12x12 sheet of scrapbook paper and holds 8 photos.  I've printed out some mini polaroid style photos for my book - mostly of my niece.....as she's so cute!

To start my project I took one sheet of 12x12' scrapbook paper (for the long term PaperArtsy fans.....you might recognise these papers from the Thorndon Hall collection from several years back!) and cut and folded it as per the photo below.  There are lots of YouTube tutorials out there if you want to try out this style of pocket book.

I had intended on my pocket book staying quite neutral and in keeping with the sheet of scrapbook paper I used......however the paint was calling to me and before I knew it the original pattern of the scrapbook paper was completely gone!

In hindsight it would have been much easier to paint and stamp the paper before cutting and creasing it - but sometimes your plans change so I just went with the flow.

 I added stamping from two of Tracy's new stamp sets TS051 and TS052

The Fresco paints I used were Azure, Verdigris (new), Mouse Ears (new), Butternut and Globe Thistle.

Once folded I added a spine to the back with some sturdy black card to make it secure.

I cut two pieces of mount board to size for covers and painted them using the same colour combination.  Then added some stamping in black with these beautiful new mandala style stamps from TS051.  I edged them both in black ink to finish them off nicely.

I added a ribbon to the book before adding the covers so that it is secure and also hidden.

I added additional stamping onto all the internal pages before adding some of my favourite family photos into the little pockets.

To finish off the front and back covers I added some white gel pen - which just really makes the details pop.  I also found it quite relaxing to just sit and add the gel pen.  This is the front cover.....

And finally the back cover....

I may go back to this project and add some bling to it - I'm thinking a few gems or a bit of sparkle, maybe some extra white gel pen or bling to the inside pages too......I think it would make it look extra special.

I hope you enjoyed my project tonight and all my family photographs!  This style book could also be used for keeping other items instead of photos - for example ticket stubs or other memorable items.  Keep your eyes peeled for lots of pocket-inspired projects over the next few weeks - please do join in and share anything your make over on the Paperartsy People Facebook group.

Thanks,
