2020 #12 Going Back To The Start with Eclectica Lin Brown Stamps {by Claire Snowdon}

2020 Topic 12: Typography

Really loving how the Kraft paper substrate, Kraft paper words layered on top and Walnut brown infusions tie this journal page together so well with those chiming shades of brown bouncing off each other. Can you see how the infusions sink into the journal pages for those spots missed by the randomly-scraped snowflake paint, giving  instant depth and allowing the same colour to have a two-tone effect? Plus plenty of Lin Brown quotes abound. There is lots to appreciate here!
~ Leandra

Hi everyone, it's Claire Snowdon here with you today, and I'd like to share with you an art journal spread I created.

I've gone right back to the start with this journal spread - back to Lin Brown's very first stamp release for PaperArtsy! In February 2013, Lin started designing for PaperArtsy with a series of Hand Carved stamps,and matching dies - you can see the original blog post here

I created my pages in a Prima Finnabair art journal - the pages I choose to use were two different ones; one was kraft and the other was already pre-printed with some typography, so I thought it would make a good starting point for this topic.

I scraped on a thin layer of Fresco Finish paint in Snowflake to give a good base for my pages.

Then I added a mixture of Infusions: Green Man, Golden Sands, Emerald Isle and Slime.

I wanted to add more depth to the page so I added some Fresco Paint in South Pacific and Pumpkin Soup using my fingers to blend.

Then added some script stamping using ELB30 and Versafine Vintage Sepia ink.

Lin has loads of different quotes in various fonts amongst all of her stamp sets so I chose a few of my favourites and stamped some directly onto the page using Versafine Black Onyx ink and some onto kraft paper.

All the quote stamps are from these sets: ELB01, ELB02ELB05, ELB28 and ELB33.

I took an old offcut of text covered scrapbook paper and stamped the flower and leaf  from ELB01 and ELB02 onto it and then fussy cut.

I added all the elements to the pages and then splattered them with gold pen.  Then to finish I added Black Soot Distress Ink around the edges.

I hope you've enjoyed my typography project and that you'll join in with this theme!  Thanks for visiting today, take care.

2019 #17 A Vintage Christmas: Words of Gold with JOFY {by Kate Yetter}

2019 Topic 17: A Vintage Christmas

Kate presents an interesting juxtaposition of vintagey layers with modern-style JoFy stamps. The stained tea bag, rustic gold embossing, a touch of sparkle, layered with bright paint colours that are dulled off with infusions. ~ Leandra

Hi everyone, it's Kate here (https://kateyetter.com/with you today, and I'd like to share with you a Christmas card for our Vintage Christmas theme.

I love any excuse to get started on my Christmas crafting. My tendency is to drift towards the non-traditional colors when it comes to Christmas but my favorite part of a Vintage Christmas is the the metallic and glitter.

My background showcases this stamp in gold metallic embossing.

I used Infusions and Fresco paint with a stencil in the background to add some color but kept the colors muted  to go with the vintage theme.

Using Distress Markers I coloured my stamped Christmas tree.

Next, I started layering my patterned paper, vintage book paper and trim. String was used to add texture and a stamped tea bag frames my sentiment.

To add some glitz, I brushed on some glitter gel.

To complete the card, the harsh edges were softened by brushing on some gesso with the tip of my finger. Now everything seems to mesh.

I love adding a bit of glam on my Christmas cards. For this card, I repeated the background stamp several times throughout the card and used only one focal image that wasn't words. Have a go at using more words and less pictures. I was surprised that I liked the result.

2019 #17 A Vintage Christmas: Old World Christmas Cards with Hot Picks {by Autumn Clark}

2019 Topic 17: A Vintage Christmas

Gorgeous Christmassy feel with lots of PA products to boot, Autumn knocks it out of the park with this amazing blending and layering of products which will please any vintage enthusiast! ~ Leandra

Hi everyone, it's Autumn Clark from SewPaperPaint with you today, and I'd like to share a few carefree, vintage-grungy makes to help inspire you in your Christmas card making.

When I thought of the theme "A Vintage Christmas," I immediately thought of the vintage brown specks that transform every bottle of PaperArtsy Infusions into magic!  I knew right away I wanted to create a selection of papers to play with...

I chose a range of PaperArtsy Infusions to include A Bit Jaded, Royal Blood and Emerald Isle.

I tinted a sheet of Heavyweight Smoothy Card with the various colors.  Next I picked a few colors of PaperArtsy Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paints to coordinate: Midnight, Jade, Guacamole and Sage.

I picked out some very old scrapbook paper upon which to do my gel printing.  I love how the patterns show through the layers of paint.  Finally, I selected some Distress Inks and Oxides and made some inky embossing folder prints to add a little texture to my range of papers.

And the fun began...  I stamped the choice portions of my papers with images from PaperArtsy Hot Pick Xmas 07 (HPXM07), PaperArtsy Eclectica {Sara Naumann} Collection (ESN17) and PaperArtsy {Lynne Perrella} Collection (LPC018) and began layering until my heart was content.

I did a lot of tearing and distressing and even went back over one layered card with one of my all time favorite stencils, PaperArtsy Stencil by Kay Carley (PS070), and a bit of crackle paste.

I added a few actual vintage bits, like old dictionary pages and postage stamps.

I wanted each card to feel like a bundle of vintage goods.  The old bakers twine always plays its roll in my designs.  And I felt the kraft card base aided in the Christmassy feel.

I'm sure you have your own stash of old scrapbook papers that are begging to be transformed.  What better way to spend a cold November's day than to cozy up with your PaperArtsy Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paints and a brayer?!  Get those creative wheels turning and pop out some layered Christmas cards of your own, won't you?

It has been great sharing with you today.  Hugs, Autumn
