2019 Topic 20: A Bit of Sparkle
There
is something very special about passing on family recipes; they always
evoke warm memories, and I love how Autumn has brought these into her
make for her brother moving soon into his new home while perfectly tying various zinski chef and house stamps together into the one theme that
works so well! Gorgeous!~ Leandra
Hi everyone, it's Autumn Clark from SewPaperPaint with
you today, and I'd like to share with you a fun little gift card set I
made for my dear brother to celebrate his new home being built.
I
started with a simple card concept in mind, which turned into a
giftcard holder and recipe set. It's just wonderful to let the creative
muse guide you when playing with stamps, isn't it?!
I
made a one layer card that can be put in the mail. What is most
exciting to me about stamping is the ability to use one stamp in so many
ways. I had envisioned stamping the house stamp from PaperArtsy {Zinski Art} Collection (ZA41) several
times and cutting the different sections apart to reassemble a variety
of little houses. In the end I decided that one house would be more
appropriate for a housewarming card.
I made a quick and easy background by brushing Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paints in Taro Milk Tea and Stone onto a Smoothy Card panel, then scraping Hint of Mint and Sage over the top with an old credit card.
To reveal the layers, I also sanded the panel in a cross hatch pattern with a sanding block.
I continued on with my scene building using Archival Inks for the colored stamping. I watercolored my images with Zig Clean Color Brush Markers. I added extra details with a white and black pen. This fun little border and the flower "cloud" were freebies inside of my latest order. Thank you PaperArtsy for your generosity! I made the sentiment by masking off part of the "A Beary Happy New Year to You" sentiment from PaperArtsy {Zinski Art} Collection (ZA35) and then doodling out the word "home."
I
decided to complete the inside of my card by adding a pocket for a gift
card. I masked off the other part of the sentiment and stamped it
here.

Here
are my favorite sparkly things this year. I ended up using Glisten
colored Stickles because they tied all of the colors in my project
together.
This little guy from PaperArtsy Zini Stamp (ZN25) reminds
me of my brother, who loves to barbecue. I thought he would look great
stamped on a few recipe cards. My daughter wrote out some of our late
Grandmother's recipes on the cards while I colored them. I hope to
stamp other characters to make him more card sets each year as time goes
by.
My
favorite part of working with with these stamps is letting my
imagination run wild and deciding who the characters remind me of. Do
you have a favorite from the Zinski Art Collection?
Maybe your loved one would enjoy some handmade recipe cards with a
character in his or her likeness? Why not make it a family activity and
work together on the cutting, coloring, choosing and writing out of
your cherished dishes.
