2021 Topic 14: Mash Up with LPC EEV EAB {by Etsuko Noguchi}

2021 Topic 14: Mash Up LPC EGL EEV EAB

The introduction of resin onto rice paper stamped with a Lynne Perrella Image gives a soft, dreamy feel to this piece. Etsuko creates an abstract soft background for it to sit upon, and some extra little resin embellishments are the unexpected bonus.

Hi everyone, it's Etsuko My favorite things with you today, and  I'm here to share with you the wall hanging which is a mash-up of stamps from the wonderful PaperArtsy designers Lynne Perrella, Ellen Vargo and Alison Bomber.
And also recently Sara Naumann's (and her DEMO is here) technique of using resin on paper was so interesting that I decided to apply it to this project.

The first step is to stamp Ellen's stamps randomly using Fresco Chalk Acrylic to create a masterboard. I used stamps from the Ellen Vargo Set 02, 08, 06, 09 (EEV02, EEV06, EEV08 and EEV09).

And these Fresco Chalk Acrylic (Fire Bird, Lemon Meringue, Slimed, Cerulean, Bubble Gum and Forget me not).

I wanted to reduce the colour of the masterboard a little more so I stamped Ellen Vargo set 06 (EEV06) all over the top of the masterboard using Fresco Chalk Acrylic (Nougat).

Now I chose a slightly larger banner-style stamp from Lynne Perrella Set 09 (LPC009) to be the focal point and stamped it onto the rice paper using Archival ink (Forger Me Not).

I dipped a brush in water, traced around the stamped section and then it is easier to tear off the paper once it is damp.

I covered the back and front of the banner with the resin, you can use a brush or sponge ( this is what I learned from Sara Naumann, and she prefers a sponge). Use rubber gloves when doing this. Here I have used UV resin. My Ice Resin hadn't been used for a long time so it had turned yellow, but that's nice for a retro look!

With this machine, UV resin will harden in about five minutes, Ice Resin should be left to sit on its own overnight.

The maserboard block-out background technique I learned in Tracy Scott's workshop. If the outside of the circles are filled with Nougat it makes the circles stand out more.

So to keep the circles from standing out too much, then I used script from Lynne Perrella Set 028 (LPC028) and splatter from Fresco Chalk Acrylic (Cerulean). The background can be seen through the transparent layer of the resin-coated banner image.

Alison Bomber's Winter quote Alison Bomber Set 05 (EAB05) is embossed with Black embossing powder on a Smoothy (Heavyweight) A4 card and applied with 3D foam.

The inner frame is made by stamping the plaid stamp from Ellen Set 05 (EEV05) in a sequence using Archival Ink (Watering Can).

I made the dangling on the bottom. I used book paper as a base, stamped Ellen Set 09 (EEV09) circle patterns in Ranger Distress Oxide (Broken China), and were used Ellen Set 05, 06 (EEV05, EEV06) Fresco Chalk Acrylic (Snowflake) on top of this papers. I then used the same resin technique to the circles and I left the extra resin around. Then I dangled them up using beads and jump rings.

Also I used the same technique for the hanging wire and made crowns from Lynne Perrella Set 011 (LPC011).

I often mash up stamps from different designers to find a connection. These three designers easy to bring together with Lynne Perrella was the focal point. Ellen Vargo was the background with her abstract stamps, and Alison Bomber was the sentiment for me. As all 3 offer such different styles many different combinations are possible.

And this project was very simple, quick to make and fun to do with resin.
Please, I hope you all enjoy the mush-up with PaperArtsy stamps.

Thank you so much for visiting.

I love how you've created all those layers of translucent colour - and the words pop so well.

Etsuko, how I wish I could join you in some of your experiments! It looks like you had such fun. I have one package of ice resin that I have lost from myself, but find that embossing thin tissue gives a similar effect. I love how you created the criss cross background panel for your colorful design. Gorgeous work! xx, Autumn
