Alison is back, and what a perfect way to bring to an end not only the first month of the year, but also our new releases for the first 2 trade-shows of the year! She takes me to a place of calm and serenity with her Seth-inspired colour palette of soft grey-blues and a splash of mulberry. That palette with her stamps work with ease across so many genres! Bliss!

Hi everyone, Alison here, and I'm absolutely thrilled to share with you my newest stamps designed for PaperArtsy.

I've chosen the themes for these sets to go with the start of a New Year.  There's a Spring Edition (to add to the Autumn and Winter editions from last year) and, to go with it, I've created a couple of sets full of inspiration and motivation.  There's a set called Dreaming & Doing, with quotes about dreaming big and putting those dreams into action; and a set called Strength & Courage, with quotes about finding inner strength and power.

These quotes will work on cards and tags as well as part of art journal pages, mixed media canvases and as inspiration quotes in written journals too.  As always the vintage typewriter font means they'll mix and match with all sorts of stamps, styles and genres.

Today there are two blog posts to enjoy, one from me, and one from Amanda Southern of Moments of Inspiration. I've always loved her work - it's exciting and vibrant and technically brilliant, and it's also in such a different style from my own.  So you can see a really different take on these same products today too. Our blog posts will publish within 30 mins of each other, so she'll be here in about half an hour.

But I've got plenty of inspiration for you myself first, so here are just a few ideas with each of the new products.  I've been playing with some of the other new stamp sets, and in different styles, and we've got a really pretty colour palette including some of Seth's brand new paint colours, so I hope you enjoy it all.

(Eclectica³ Alison Bomber Set 06 (EAB06) Spring Edition

The Feeling of Spring using EAB06 Spring Edition

Let's start with a pair of tags.  Kay Carley's wonderful new blossom trees from EKC16 seemed the perfect accompaniment for these springtime quotes.  I think the life and energy of the words works really well with the fresh, simple drawings.

I love being able to emboss the quotes - it means you can work with all sorts of different colours and backgrounds, as well as having that lovely light-capturing glossiness of most embossing powders.  This Mark Twain quote captures the feeling of spring so well... it's a long quote, but of course you could just use sections of it.

Or you can stamp in any colour too, of course, so I was able to match my tree blossom and Charles Lanman's words in a way that pleases me a lot.

Spring Spirit using EAB06 Spring Edition

You could go full on vintage springtime, of course, with some Hot Picks flowers.  These delicate daisies are from HP1203.

I love using the quotes to add background detail too.  Here, I've stamped in Distress Ink which gives a softer, faded look - an echo of the main thought.

Or if you want something in a completely different style, how about a Zinski character's feelings about spring?!  It's lucky she has all those arms so that she can be ready for the 136 different kinds of spring weather.

She's definitely keeping an eye on those gathering clouds - sponged on with Seth's fabulous new steely blue paint colours.  I've given her an ice cream and some sunglasses, as well as an umbrella in case of April showers!

Springtime ATCs using EAB06 Spring Edition

Regular followers of mine will know I often find myself working in sets and pairs and trios, and this set of ATCs appeared without me really trying!  I wanted to play with some more of Kay's charming meadow grasses, this time in the small size on EKC17.

I also like to mount the quotes on padded tape sometimes, to really make them pop and take centre stage.  There's nothing like spring light, and these words make my heart happy.

Oh, and I've used one of Kay's stencils in the background too to create more depth (PS080).  I'd love to wander off into this meadow to enjoy the earth's spring poems.

Eclectica³ Alison Bomber Set 07 (EAB07) Dreaming & Doing

No Small Dreams using EAB07 Dreaming & Doing

Here's another pair of tags as we head into the next set of stamps, and we're in a world of dreams.  We're not just dreaming, though... we're getting ready to change the world with our dreams.

The sky is somewhere between dawn and dusk - those dreaming times of day when ideas and possibilities arise in the imagination.  As the wind moves through the meadow grasses (from the new EKC17 set), it brings inspiration.

Being in nature is the other thing which activates my dreams, so under the tree from the Urban Snapshots Nature Plate 1 is the perfect place to sit and let the mind wander and come up with something to move the hearts of men.

Underwater Dreaming using EAB07 Dreaming & Doing

I was so lucky to get to play with some of the new Scrapcosy designs too. These take us into a whole underwater world where nothing seems quite real.  The extraordinary creatures you meet under the sea (Blue Planet II anybody?!) often seem dreamlike, so I thought they'd work really nicely with some of the dream quotes.

For instance, who could ever imagine a seahorse?  (He's from ESC12.) Strangest of creatures, and definitely with a mythical look about them... but seeing has to be believing.  I want to ask "how?" and "what?" as well as "why?"! 

And the rainbow colours and fantastical light displays from some of the creatures of the underwater world definitely seem unreal - so even seeing doesn't necessarily make it any easier to believe at times.  This shimmering fish is from ESC10.

Change the World using EAB07 Dreaming & Doing

Motivation time with this next pair of ATCs.  With words this powerful, I've kept everything else very simple.

Call me a dreamer, but I absolutely believe in the power of dreams to change the world with the right plans, actions and belief...

... but you need the strength, patience and passion too.  These two quotes could set the world alight, I think.

Immensity To Dream In using EAB07 Dreaming & Doing

I'm wandering in the meadows again for my final dreamings, this time amongst Lin Brown's wonderful grasses and under her stars (all from ELB30) - oh, and a couple of Hot Picks bird silhouettes (HP1009) to provide the soundscape for the journal page.

A dreamy sponged background and Victor Hugo's extraordinary mind-expanding words (echoing through the dusky sky in paler form too)... having the space and time to dream is one of the great gifts of life.

Lose Sight of the Shore using EAB08 Strength & Courage

I was so thrilled when I saw the new Scrapcosy ESC11 plate... it was one of those happy coincidences: the perfect stamps to go with one of my favourite quotes of all time.  I couldn't resist making another pair of tags - this time using the same words for both.

I'll admit I have a bit of a thing about old sailing ships - the romance of the creaking of the wood, the wind in the sails, a life on the ocean wave... and what fabulous vintage images these are, capturing all that and more.

And André Gide offers up that nudge to us all to let go of the familiar in order to explore new horizons and have new adventures.  It definitely takes courage, but who knows what you might discover?

Courageous Zinskis using EAB08 Strength & Courage

Again, a complete switch in style, but I think these quote stamps work really well with characters - whether they're thinking the words themselves, or maybe we're thinking it about them!

Some more white embossing - I love the look of the words with that touch of glossy dimensionality.

I think he really does look as though he's trying to summon up the courage for something or other - you can decide for yourselves what it might be...

And the button rag doll is clearly finding all that happy energy, strength and courage from somewhere... I do love her, even though she's not in my usual style, so maybe that's it!

Women of Courage using EAB08 Strength & Courage

And finally, I couldn't let these quotes go by without pairing them with some of my beloved Lynne Perrella women.  A pair of postcards this time...

If there were ever women who had strength and courage to spare, they must be these incredible beauties.  I can't imagine these woman from LPC035 and LPC036 lacking the courage to attempt anything.

And, as ever, I've made sure that there are words from at least one woman on each stamp plate.  Of course, strictly, these are from a girl, but one who was wise beyond her years.  Even though, tragically, Anne Frank lived such a short life, her strength and courage shine out through her words to inspire us today.

As you can see, I've drawn huge inspiration from the new words, and I hope that you will too.  In fact, I've kept you here for so long that it's probably time for Amanda's post - where you will find another view of these quotes.

I'm always blown away when I see these words which mean so much to me moving off into the world and being played with by other artists and crafters.  They gather meaning with each new piece of artwork created, and it's pure joy to me to see the inspiration spreading.  I can't wait to see how they inspire all of you.
