GD: Wanda Hentges #3 Journal Page

Happy Wednesday!!!  It's Wanda here, and for my last project we have a journal page.

I'm having more fun with Darcy's stamps, EDY09 and EDY10, and I did not allow myself to use the heart flowers :-)

 EDY09
EDY10,
To begin, as there was some bleed-through from spray on the flip side of the page, I put two coats of gesso on the page allowing it to dry between coats.  My base coat of paint uses sky, pansy, and tinned peas.

For the next coat I made sure I had everything ready.  My paint is mixed with water, there is 91% rubbing alcohol in the pipette, and I wanted the added allusion of texture from the paper towel so I have one of those ready.

I used two colors for the second coat, cheesecake and sherbet.  I brushed them on quickly, dripped on the rubbing alcohol and immediately laid the paper towel over the page, rubbed across it and pulling it back off.  Doesn't that look fabulous!!!!

And here's a close-up.

I stamped the feather with Archival Ink forget-me-not, stamping more than once between inkings.

Jet black is used to stamp the row of heart grass across the page.  I somehow got way off at the edge, I'll fix that.  The grass is painted with hey pesto, dried, and then highlights added with the Sharpie paint marker.

I thought the pointy flower on The Crafters Workshop mini 4 flowers stencil would make a great sun.  I mixed some yellow paints with grunge paste, applied the mix through the stencil, removed the stencil, cleaned the stencil right away, and left the sun to dry.

After it was dry, I put the stencil back on and, using my finger, added just a bit of yellow submarine to give it more depth.

The bird, Neville, was stamped onto a scrap of smoothy card, punched with an oval punch, and painted with watered down stone and sky.

The flower was stamped 3 times with jet black.

I painted each flower a different color - haystack, pansy, and orchid. I started using the Sharpie marker on the dots but it was running out (I've used it a lot and have added one to my Christmas list) and finished with my Posca marker (these work well too).

I used my finger to pat just a tiny bit of snowflake paint onto the page, dried it, and stamped the quote with jet black.  The birds are also stamped with jet black.

I added 2 different strips of washi tape below the grass, brushed snowflake paint in the center below that and stamped the other quote with jet black.

I stamped a feather onto a scrap of smoothy card with forget-me-not and cut it out.

I decided I wanted a bit more in the background and added some snowflake paint through The Crafters Workshop mini tiny circles stencil.

I put a piece of thin cardboard behind Neville, added dots around the edge, inked the very edge with jet black ink, and attached it to the page with foam mounting tape.  The feather is also attached with foam mounting tape just down the center.
