Introducing ... Linda Cain, Guest Designer

The third Guest Designer this month is the one and only, world famous Linda Cain. I was first wowwed by Linda's work when I visited the CHA trade show, and saw many of her beautiful samples on various stands at the show. Over the years, she has created so many incredible samples for Tim Holtz, Ranger, Graphic 45, to name just a few brands, and I have long admired her skill and amazing creations with Ten Seconds Studio's metal products. Linda is very much a PaperArtsy genre gal, but she really has not had many opportunities to use our stuff. But I know this is right up her street, so we were thrilled when she could find time to guest for us. She has taken to Frescos like a duck to water, so kick back, and enjoy the week ahead. I'm sure you'll want to play along too.

Here's a few words from Linda herself ....

"I still vividly remember the first time I actually, physically, saw and held a PaperArtsy stamp in my hand! The style, the detail, the subject matter were like a dreamland to me. So when Leandra emailed me, yes ME, and asked me to be a Guest Designer, I nearly flipped out! My dear friend Lin Brown had been using the Fresco Finish Paints to everyone's delight for quite a while and loved them, but I could not have ever imagined the quality nor the brilliance of the images you get when using them with stamps! They knocked my socks off!!! And I'm not easily impressed. And like Michelle, when the huge box of goodies arrived, my family thought I'd gone bonkers. Well, they were right. It's opened up a whole new world for me.

So "hang onto your diapers babies, we're goin' in!" ~ Rugrats in Paris! (a favorite family quotation...you had to be there.)"

Linda will be here tomorrow with her first project and here's a hint......it's totes amazeballs .....with or without diapers!

As Linda has a big American following, here's some info on how to get PaperArtsy stuff in the USA. We do get a lot of emails from people wondering how to buy our products in the USA. The following stores order from us regularly to sell varous PaperArtsy lines in their USA outlets:

Absolutely Everything: Squiggly Ink, Hot Picks, Lynne Perrella, Fresco Acrylic Paint, Minis.
Blockhead Rubber Stamps: Ink and the Dog, Lynne Perella, Squiggly Ink.
Simon Says Stamp: Hot Picks, Dies, Fresco Acrylic Paint, Ink and the Dog Minis, Papers.
Stamp Diva: Ink and the Dog, Urban Snapshots, Lynne Perrella, Hot Picks.
The Ink Pad: Lynne Perrella, Minis, Vintage Ink and the Dog, Hot Picks, Ink and the Dog, Urban Snapshots.
The Occasional Artist: Hot Picks, Minis, JoFY, Lynne Perrella.
The Stamproom: Hot Picks, Dies, Urban Snapshots, Squiggly Ink.

If you cannot find an item, then we suggest you contact one of those stores, and ask them to order it in for you. We always prefer that you support your local stamp store wherever possible. If stores get enough requests from you, then they will order from us. So please email them to request items if they are out of stock, or not in their shops yet.

If it is an item they do not, or don't intend to stock, then you can buy from direct from PaperArtsy, we do ship worldwide. Our cart can be converted into USA Dollars at the live exchange rate if you click the currency link top right of any page, and if you use 'worldpay' as the checkout payment gateway, you can pay by your credit card in US dollars, which means no big exchange fee. Once you tell the shopping cart where you live, it will calculate freight based on the weight of the items in your shopping basket. It's not cheap! It usually takes at least 5 working days by post. Orders over 2 kg will be shipped via a courier service like UPS. So if you can buy local from one of the suppliers above, it's a much better option for you. If you have any questions, email sales@paperartsy.co.uk for help.

We expect you will be inspired by Linda's posts this week, so if you would like to play along with us, please share with us all what you have cooked up in your neck of the woods

Use PaperArtsy Stamps, Fresco Paint and you will be in with a chance to win stamps of your choice {either 1 x A5 set or 2 x A6 sets or 3 minis}

Please link directly to the URL of your blog post, select one of the pictures from your own blog post. The link facility will end Saturday evening, and the winner will be announced this time next week.

To be perfectly honest, may I say what others may be thinking? It's hard to congratulate someone who entered the giveaway 4 times which increased her chances of winning considerably. Just doesn't seem fair and, I would say, a bit underhanded. Hate to be a spoiled-sport but there you go. Does PaperArtsy really want us to enter as many times as we want? Other, similar contests have implemented policies that only allow one entry per person. I appreciate that PaperArtsy can handle this any way they choose, I just had to put my two-cents in.

Already in love with some of the games Linda's been playing over at her blog recently with the Fresco paints - can't wait to see what she serves up here! And congrats to Sam...

Others aren't thinking anything of the sort, there was nothing in the post to say you could only enter once - if you are inspired more than once with a different technique, then go for it. Looking forward to next week, and again, well done Sam!!

Sore looser much? There is 4 different techniques provided so doing 4 yourself is only logical. I would have entered 4 times if I had the time. Congratz Sam! you put in allot of hard work.

Welcome Linda, looking forward to seeing your fab artwork PaperArtsy stylee.
And well done Sam, all that effort in joining in with each technique paid off, Don't pay attention to the sore loser! I'd have entered more than once too had I of had more time!

Ok guys thanks for all your comments, this is our first time doing this kind of thing. I am blissfully unaware of how other companies may do this. Thanks to Ceparie for saying what she thinks, I appreciate it. Here are my thoughts. We want people to be inspired by our designers, and as they may present new ideas and techniques in each post during the week, then multiple entries are allowed as we want to see your inspired creativity, its a pleasure to see you want to play along and share with us all. However, so as to not disadvantage those who don't enter multiple times I have a cunning plan. Lets do two prizes! Round one prize is the random number generated from all entries(as we currently do), and then we do a second draw, where all the remaining participants (excluding the round one winner) names go in the hat for a second chance to win! That system is fair yes? Feedback appreciated.

Two prizes! That seems incredibly generous of you - but I'm all for it!

Clare with paint in her hair said...

well if its 4 projects per guest designer a max of 4 entry's per person and the random generator would seem logical to me, but hey if you want to give away 2 prizes whoohooooo! So very generous of you!

I agree with Helen that is very generous, the only reason I had time to do two entries was the weather and most things I had planned for this week were cancelled . It's looking much the same this week ha ha!!!!! Having said that I am loving the challenges!!!

Minxy said...

While i'm never one to say no to more prizes I don't think you need to change the system, someone who enter's 3 or 4 times has put in 3 or 4 times the effort so why shouldn't they be rewarded by having a higher chance of winning, But hay what do I know, It's your blog Leandra and i'm happy to follow whatever rules you see fit to install.

Congrats Trish ... enjoy your prize!

Really looking forward to the week ahead and all that Linda has to offer!!! Lets keep in mind that sometimes the creativity flows and at other times it ceases to be! Allow those with the current inspiration and time, to flourish and be pleased they are sharing their creations with you. Remember it could be you that has the out pouring of creativity next time and wouldn't you just love to show how you have been moved to create. The number of times is irrelivant1 The sharing and pleasure is the main point surely. not just entering to win a prize. Let's stop now and be pleased we have a great blog here in PaperArtsy Thanks Leandra.

I certainly don't think that, the first week I thought we could only do one entry and it was so hard choosing what to do, where as if I had the time I would have done all of Helen's, actually I still am lol. I would prefer even having no prize and have years (sorry I know it's lots of work Leandra lol, I don't do it for the prizes I do it as I learn so much, I certainly couldn't afford to go around the world taking classes, this way we really get great inspiration for nothing. I'm with the others, I'm not bothered about a second prize, it will start to drain your funds meaning you will have to stop earlier doing this brilliant idea, I can't wait each day for inspiration and on a Sunday it's more exciting waiting to see who we have as a designer :-). Maybe if you still want to do the out of a hat do it one per person (for some people who think getting stuff is more important) each month. I couldn't believe what the prize was anyway I was shocked, I would have been happy with 10% off your shop lol. Don't feel put down by this Leandra your doing a fantastic job and you can't please everybody, but my the comments you seem to be pleasing everybody else. Also most challenges are allowed more than one entry, both DT's I am on allow 10!!!! so not sure where the one entry comes from. Lots of hugs xxxxx your doing a brilliant job you and Gillian :-) xxxx
