Linda Cain #4 .... Wooden Madonna Canvas

"Well hello again everyone! Here’s just another wonderful substrate that you can use to make a collage with that’s not overwhelming in size. I used a Wooden Frame measuring 10x10 cm, I opted to turn it over and use it like a canvas. Fresco paints work perfectly on wood surfaces .... so let's get started"!

Firstly I gave the base a coat with Snowflake. Then starting at the bottom I added Hyde Park , and Limelight , I then used Haystack in the centre area continuing with Sky and Baltic Blue which was "pounced" on the top. I then went back and added little cloud effects using the still wet Snowflake Cut N Dry pad.

I then used Archival Ink (Jet Black) to stamp the "Madonna" image from the Lynne Perrella 018 Collection onto the canvas.

You need to heat set at this stage before moving on. I then continued adding stamps from Hot Picks 1104 (the word phrase) with Coffee Archival Ink

and Hot Picks 1105 (the tall heart) along the sides with Jet Black.

I also used a background script stamp with Sepia Archival Ink on the front.

I used Old Gold Fresco Paint to add highlights around her face, and a white ultra-fine posca pen for the other dots around the edges.

Lastly I stamped the gorgeous top section of the "Balloon" from LP018 onto the top and bottom. It has such beautiful detail.

I cut the brad pieces off the back of the "tiny metal heart" and painted it Claret.
Let it dry before giving it another light coat. Glue the Heart, the star buttons, Ideology Wings (Regal Adornments), and Corners on with strong metal glue (I cut the sides off the corners so they didn’t cover up the stamped images.)

The corners were sanded with a detailing block and polished for brighter contrast.

I love the way the Limelight just happened to accent the side of her neck and the right side of the piece with a certain glow….purely accidental! I’d like to tell you I planned it, but I’m just luckier than I am good!

"Enjoy and I’ll see you back here again next month".

Your "friend in art"!
Linda Cain

Leandra Says: Well, you are using my favourite colour combo here, blue and green is always easy on the eye, and great shades to work with. Limelight and Zesty zing can both add highlights with the bright oomph they bring to the mix. I think the gold accents really set it all off perfectly.

Gillian Says: This project is uber gorgeous, the whole mix of colours surrounding and highlighting this wonderful image is just brilliant, again loving all the stamping layers. The addition of the metal wings finish "her" off perfectly.

A HUGE thanks to Linda for sharing her awesome art work with us this week. You can see more from Linda on the 18th of February. There's still time to join in our challenge (click HERE) before the winner is announced Sunday evening, along with info about who is next weeks Guest Designer!
