Claire attests to the mood boosting power of creativity and has created a 'blooming' wonderful journal page. She's used lots of stencils to cleverly create a real jungle vines background effect.

Hi everyone, it's Claire Snowdon with you today, and I'd like to share a 'jungle vibes' journal page I've made in my square Dylusions journal. 

I really love using the PaperArtsy Fresco Paints on the Dylusions paper - they give a wonderfully smooth, matte finish - which is just the effect I was looking for with this project.

I used Fresco paints in Gumboots, Beanstalk and Pistachio for the background.  And added some stencilling using two JOFY stencils (PS010 and PS149).

 

 

I then added some lighter elements using the Pistachio again and also Eggshell.  This time using the numbers PaperArtsy stencil (PS021) and an Emma Godfrey stencil (PS015). I just kept on layering up the stencilling until I was happy with the background - adding stencilling on top of stencilling is a great way to create depth and interest to your pages.

Next for the focal elements - these big, beautiful flowers from JOFY91 were just the standout pieces I was looking for.

I used my Stamp Platform to stamp a rough image of each flower and then coloured them using Fresco Finish paints in: Blah Mange, Sorbet, Bougainvillea, Cerise, Plum, London Bus and Bubble Gum.  Then stamped them again before fussy cutting them and adding the highlights with a white Posca paint pen.

  

 

I added some additional stamping - the stalks for each flower are from JOFY sets (JOFY23 and JOFY54) and the spiky grasses are from JOFY22 - stamped in dark green to give extra contrast.  Then a little touch of script in Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide using the script stamp from ESN11 as I love to have some form of script in all my backgrounds!

I love the quote from Tracy Scott's stamp set (ETS29) and felt it really fitted this page perfectly!  Finally I mounted the flower heads to the page with foam tape to give them a bit of dimension and coloured in the leaves with Pitt pens.

I really enjoyed creating with these lovely bright colours - it cheered me up no end.  This was the first time I'd used the stamping platform with JOFY flowers - it made the colouring process so easy and I will definitely be using it more often in the future.

As we bring our shaving foam experiments to a close, Lucy works with dark and bright reinkers in shaving foam to create this canvas using Tracy's stamps and stencils ~ Leandra

Hi everyone, it's Lucy from Lucy's True Colours with you today, and I'd like to share with you a canvas board made with Tracy Scott's stamps and stencisl and some techniques with shaving foam.

When I first started papercrafting back in 2003, but before I started stamping, I dabbled with shaving foam as many of us did, but was not very happy with the effects. I had some marbling inks which were only available in primary colours and so I found the end results not very subtle. Now we have such a huge range of options available to us that we can float and marble to give so many different looks. in 2014 (and I couldn't believe it was so long ago!) I did some experiments here on the blog with Fresco Finish Paints and really enjoyed using shaving foam again.

So today I knew I wanted to do something different and to do some further experimenting, and had immediately decided I wanted to use Distress Oxide reinkers. I wanted to see if I could dip and swipe with a number of different materials using the foam and Oxide combo. I had mixed results. I knew that because Oxides are chalky they show up on black so I thought I would introduce black backgrounds into my project but I don't feel the nuances of the different colours show up as clearly as they do on white. I quite like the rather dreamy quality it gives though. I felt other aspects of the experiments were more successful.

I started off in the traditional way with my shaving foam and drops of Distress Oxide reinkers in Twisted Citron, Seedless Preserves, Dusty Concorde, Picked Raspberry, Broken China, Abandoned Coral, and Shaded Lilac. I like to use a baking tin covered in foil to make clean up easy. You can then lift it out of the way to clear your work surface so you have space to do your scraping.

I made a feathered pattern with a wooden skewer, making sure to break up any dots of colour.

For my substrate, I painted a piece of canvas board with Fresco Finish Little Black Dress.

I then dipped it in the shaving foam mixture and scraped across once with my ruler. If you're not happy with it, you can repaint your canvas with Little Black Dress.

I did a piece of black cardstock at the same time, to make a matching greetings card. Well, really it was just part of the experiment! The markings seem much more distinct. I don't know why.

I then gold embossed the stem from the large flower from Tracy Scott Eclectica ETS29 onto the canvas.

I dipped pieces of pink tissue paper into the shaving foam mixture. The colours are glorious! You need to take a little care when pulling the ruler across as the shaving foam is a little soggy and the tissue paper is delicate but it's not too difficult to do so.

I then used my pieces of tissue paper to gold emboss the small and large flowers from Tracy Scott Eclectica ETS17 concentrating on the areas where there is most colour, and cut them out and layered them together.

I scooped up some of the surface shaving foam with a credit card (yes, it's buried under there!) and scraped it through Tracy Scott's stencil PS111 onto pink tissue paper and once the flower circles were dry I cut them out. 

I just love this versatile stencil. I cut up pieces of these circles and applied them around the edges of the canvas in a random fashion using gel medium. I love the translucent, veiny look.

I did the same thing onto a piece of canvas sheet from a pad, cut around it, and used my scissors to distress the edges so there were lots of cotton strands. This was one of the bits of the experiment I liked! I used this as a base for my layered tissue paper flowers and positioned it above the gold stem.

I used some of the remaining inky foam on the credit card to scrape across some canvas paper and once it was dry, I gold embossed the word 'Bloom' from Tracy Scott Eclectica ETS29 and roughed up the edges. I positioned this at the base of the flower stem.

To finish off my canvas I added some white text from Tracy Scott Eclectica ETS28 using Fresco Finish Snowflake, some white paint splatters, and some white lace at the bottom which I pleated. 

I took a silver bulldog clip and painted it with Fresco Finish Little Black Dress which adhered beautifully to the metal. Whilst the paint was a little wet, I added some random flecks of gold embossing powder for some rough texture.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my creative process, what worked and what maybe didn't work so well, and that it has given you some new possibilities to try. I made such a big fat mess along the way I wasn't sure I would manage to get a successful project made at all! You could say it was a close shave!

Hi everyone, it's Clare with you today and it's my turn to share with you Tracy Scott's  sensational new stamp designs which come along with a trio of stencils to compliment your creativity!

With the autumn months approaching and the nights starting to draw in I find myself longing for a new read and thought it might be interesting to combine my love of reading and crafting into a readable, crafting combination.  No pages of this book have been ripped, torn or shredded, promise!

My chosen book was completely inexpensive as it was one I found whilst mooching around a charity shop.  With a lovely hardback cover, it was perfect substrate to layer on my Paperartsy Fresco paint.

I gave both the front and back cover a coat of Chocolate pudding before applying a coat of PaperArtsy crackle effect glaze through Tracy's new stencils.

Once the crackle glaze had dried I added a wash of Nougat over the book cover and watched the vintage swirls appear as if by magic.

Inspired by some beautiful stain glass windows, that I recently saw, I selected my colour palette and opted to make some very simple master-boards,on PaperArtsy smoothy card.  

The flowers that Tracy has drawn for us have such exquisite detail that spending too much time on creating a beautiful master-board  would be considered a waste.  I stamped the flowers onto the master-board, fussy cut and did a little flower arranging.

These flowers, I'm sure, are going to be 'go to' stamps!  They are classic in design but are versatile in the respect they can be be used on a variety of different types of projects. We all know that Tracy loves to art journal but for card makers these stamps will provide you with a plethora of cards & sentiments to see you through the year. 

Using some of the left over yellow master-board I cut out a tag to decorate to compliment my newly decorated book.  It was criminal NOT to use all of this beautiful sunflower but believe me I intend on using this one time and time again.  I can loose hours painting and then layering pencil colours over the top, something I didn't explore on this mini project, but I guess I am saving this for one of those dark, autumn afternoons that I don't have to venture out.

I couldn't resist just using a couple of stamps inside the book too. I used a smokey grey ink, which still allowed the text to peep through, so reading those pages wouldn't be impossible when the time comes. 

What better way to brighten up the darker months ahead with these striking new stamps?  I have a feeling that a few more of Tracy's new floral stamps will be making an appearance  on some more of this books' pages.  Where will you stamp yours?
