NEW PaperArtsy Products: Seth Apter {November 2023}

A note from Leandra:

Seth adds to his fabulous collection of mark-making designs with a step into a new direction ... focal elements. Wait what! Generally Seth's stamps are mostly about backgrounds, building those magical layers, but on this occasion he has added to each set some fabulous focal elements: trees, and winged creatures. I think this is going to be a lot of fun to explore the opportunities that flow from these designs, and as you will see from Seth's samples, it is still all about those layers!

Seth will be along to share with you live his new products and ideas over in our Facebook Group, 'PaperArtsy People' shortly after this post publishes, and ... don't forget

These stamps are available EXCLUSIVELY from our approved stockists. Please check the list at the foot of this post to find a retailer online or geographically near you, it makes sense to order within your country where possible. Our retailers also endeavour to join the designer's live to share their direct shopping links - this makes it super easy for you to find a store with product in stock immediately.

Hello everybody. I love the start of something new and today I have an all-new, hot-off-the-vulcanizer-press release of stamps. There are three new stamp sets with a bit of a new direction. Let's have a look...

SOAR

Stamp set ESA37 has all the usual suspects: designs that are perfect for making layers, borders, marks, and abstract focal points. And of course there are words. All of these are my staples. But...the largest stamp of the set, front and center, is a butterfly. Yup. An actual representational focal point.

The butterfly is based on a vintage image which has been edited and mixed-mediafied with additional details and text. It lends itself to being colored or enabling a background to show through - both of which allow you to make it all your own.

For me it was still all about the layers, so this artwork also includes marks made from several of the other stamps in set ESA37, as well as my Fig 1 stamp from my ESA29 set.

MORE IS MORE

One of the reasons I include so many mark makers in my stamp sets is because layers and details are always at the core of my art.

My belief that MORE IS MORE is now a stamp.

To honor that mantra, this artwork was made using 5 of the 7 stamps included in Set ESA37.

ONE LAYER

Set ESA38 is filled with 8 stamps that include my most favorite designs - words, numbers, circles, and marks. It also includes my catch-phrase ONE LAYER AWAY FROM MAGIC and a beautifully detailed dragonfly.

I love using both words and abstract marks as focal points and this artwork is a good example of that approach. The star of the show is the phrase ONE LAYER AWAY FROM MAGIC

I also used one of my favorite mark making stamps from the set to add background details and a bit of an abstract focal point. The small stamp was used multiple times in different directions to create a unique design that covered more ground than if I had used the stamp once.

D IS FOR DRAGONFLY

After going in a bit of a new direction with my stamp designs, I decided to do something a bit different for my artwork using them.

This dragonfly calls outs to be colored in and I thought I would use my translucent dye sprays to allow the details in the wings to shine through.

Repeating the figure while at the same time using different colors enables you to create something with both unity and variety. And the addition of the word FLY also adds a unique touch.

BARE TREES, GREY LIGHT

The focal stamps in all 3 sets are nature-based, whether that is a butterfly or the silhouette of a bare tree. These make a great contrast with the city-vibe that most of my designs bring.

This piece of art includes one of two tree stamps in Set ESA39. This one may just be my most favorite stamp of the release.

This art also includes a number stamp and two of my favorite mark making stamps, all also from this set. They were all used to create detail, dimension, depth, and a sense of texture. After all...more is more.

FREEBIRD

In a rare example (for me) of less is more, I used the second silhouetted tree as a focal point in a Freebird.

I think my favorite detail in this stamp is the bird.

I also used one of the mark maker stamps in the set to create an abstracted look of grass to ground the artwork.

I am looking forward to seeing how you bring these stamps into you own art and how you combine the flavor of both city and nature. Sending out thanks to you all for supporting my new collection and to PaerArtsy for enabling me to share my creations with you all!
