Hi everyone,  France here

I'm super happy to share this new release with you! As Leandra mentioned, this is a new direction, a very personal one. Never before have I shared elements from my own art journals for you to use. It was about time to change that!

Despite that these are all elements from my personal art journals, I still wanted them to be as versatile as each of my previous collections. Not only in terms of creative project they might be used for, but also in terms of mixing and matching parts of them together, or with previous releases.

The starting point was all things background! Yet, each stamp can be a background stamp or a focal point.

Price: RRP €23.00 +VAT   Size:5" x 6" (13 x16.5cm)
All stamps are individually trimmed onto cling foam with a laminated storage/index sheet.

France Papillon Collection Set 031 (FP031)

 SIGN by France

There's no need to mention just how much I love (and use!) circles. But when circles get mixed up with hearts, I am just sold! For this first set, the combination of bulky background elements with a mini tiny heart seems just like an invitation to combine them!

I created this element for a spread, combining shapes in a grungy way, with my actual handwriting. And of course the little words of the stamp set fit the space in the smallest rectangle.

The bulky background elements help the rendering of the delicacy of the tiny heart. Especially if on top of their design, you play with colorizing the focal point only.

JOY by Leandra

Leandra here. I had the opportunity to play with France's new products and this is my interpretation. Love all the different style you can create with one series of stampst! This set is packed with circular frames that work so well as windows and layers.

Stencil PS377 shares a similar element to one of the stamps and was used in the background in brown paint, with a yellow haze painted softly inside each circle.

The owl (a Lynne Perrella stamp from LPC049) sits on the window-frame ledge, looking for his keeper below. The frame itself framed with machine stitching. Adding colour to the circle creates a focal zone.

There are a selection of extra words in this set to use within the frame, here 'joy' was chosen to be the focus, and part of the quote 'I come with my own background music' was cut up and rearranged as the sentiment.

I love stamping around the edges to add depth and the texture. For that, there are 3 perfect grungy stamps to choose from i this set! The boxy squares were also stamped in paint across some of the stencilled circles.

BRIGHT COLORS by France

In order for the heart to be the actual focal point, I kept the circles to a minimum on this set. And the contrast in texture and bulkiness allows you to bring all the attention where you want to have it on the project.

Playing with color on the focal point only really brings it to the foreground. And can you spot the 3 little strips created with the bold frame from the set?

I used the writing from the bottom frame from the set to add interest to the heart frame. Again, the small words fit the opening in the heart of course!

Like I mentioned, my starting point for this release was all things background. So I could not not have a quote about it. A beautiful reminder by Jean Rhys that without background, there is no foreground ;)

HEART by Leandra

On top of a background made with PS378, textures from the grungy frame and the circle design were embossed in gold around the edge of the card cut square.

Just 2 rows of the circles were inked to make it easier to fit them in the available gaps. Love the grungy aspect with the embossing: it looks like weathered metal!

The word 'heart' was also included in the mix to chime with the central image. Rows of stitching help define the border from the centre.

Small sections of the scribbled words block were stamped in black for a bit of contrast. It ended up making rectangles shapes that worked well with the rest of the border structure.

This focal heart in a frame was embossed in clear powder to give a shiny contrast, and the words was stamped in the frame and embossed too.

DREAM by France

Sometimes, one focal point just isn't enough! So instead of just using these elements for the background, they each have their own visual attraction on the spread. Which element is your favourite?

The quote couldn't say it any better: you can make those stamps background elements or just little details or a main part of the composition.

And I love how you can just use the stacked frame as it is, or as a base for some more wording.

But the hero of this set is of course the bold heart in the delicate frame. Yet again, depending on how you play with color (or not!) it can become a soft detail on the spread.

FRAMED by Leandra

Onto the stencilled background created with PS379, The phrase is stamped in Aquamarine paint to add a bit of gentle colour pop in the background.

The heart is stamped with Toffee Apple paint, then clear embossed and cut out to sit over the 'circle spot' frame, also clear embossed.

The 'frames' stamp is repeatedly stamped around the edges to create a border, then coloured with translucent paints. Staples and machine stitching is added.

PaperArtsy Stencil 377 by France Papillon (PS377)

MY WHOLE HEART by France

I always say that stamps are a creative's best friends! Nonetheless, stencils can work wonders on their own. By combining paint, pen, ink, and by tracing, filling or even lifting, they become whatever element you want them to be on your project.

I traced the little heart on a separately colored piece of paper to then glue it in place. Just to have more contrast going on!

Combining all the elements of the stencil, you can really create a lot of depth. My favorite part are the mini circles from the stencil, which I filled using a black marker.

CROSS MY HEART by Leandra

Prepared as a background, this design packs some punch! It is quite easy to line up the crosses to duplicate the pattern both regularly and irregularly.

If this rings a bell, yes you have ready seen some peaks in the stamps section, as it was used as the background layer in the sample below.

WHISPER SOFTLY by France
When you deconstruct the image on the stencil, you can use it for the purpose you need! I used one side of the big frame to go around the entire spread, bringing everything together.

Although the big heart is stealing the show, the bold crosses are what is making my heart sing. The heart then again is big enough to play with fresco's to create a color variation inside the surface.

I only used one side of the frame openings surrounding the hearts, tracing it with a water soluble charcoal pencil and a black marker. Then playing with water, I emphasized it.

GRIDS by Leandra

One stencil, many possibilities! Here I created a new design from 2 smaller designs, so have fun combining your elements!

Using 2 colours of paint also adds some depth to a stencil by letting one blend into the next

Sometimes sanding back the stencilled layers a little can also add another grunge effect and creates a super-smooth layer to stamp on.

WATCH YOUR HEART by France

There is no frame around the no entry sign on the stencil, but do not let that stop you from adding one using other elements! Here the crosses are smaller, yet still as bold.

I could have added the word just in the no entry sign. I decided to spice it up though adding the heart as well in its center.

The frame created using the rectangle on the stencil brings everything together, as if it all just belongs there.

CIRCULAR by Leandra

Simple and super-fun to do, the circular stencil pattern is repeated in Toffee Apple, Persimmon and Aquamarine. Sometimes pattern matched, and sometime overlapped.

The overall effect offers some depth, but i do like to stencil, sand back a lot and repeat the stencil-sand process. Often I will add more colour on top to blend the layers and get the piece offering a bit of overall oomph.

Here you can peek through the details of the final sample to still see the stencilled layers underneath.

Which stamp or stencil is sparking your mojo? What are you planning to create? I'm looking forward to see it all so don't forget to share it on the PaperArtsy People Facebook group. In the meantime, I'm diving back into my art journal with all of these!

Butterfly kisses,
