NEW PaperArtsy Products: ZINIS (Zinski Minis) by Elena Guzinksa {June 2022}

A note from Leandra:
We have a week of June releases to share with you and we start the ball rolling today with Elena Guzinska and a series of  8 mini stamps (in her line we call the minis "ZINIS"). This series of houses was a special request from me, and Elena managed to get what was in my head onto paper! She produced fun tall skinny houses, short wide, and lots of little details that add those quirky features we adore from Elena!
I was inspired by the A5 house stamps she has release in the past, there's so much you can do with them (ZA39, 40 & 41), and so I thought that some Zini houses would be super cute and fun too! So here we are. And yay, I got to play and create some samples to share with you all.

I will be Live in our FB community - PaperArtsy People - to share with you these new stamps shortly after this post publishes. I really hope you can drop by, or try to catch the replay.

For the next few months, these stamps are only available EXCLUSIVELY from our approved stockists. Please check the list at the foot of this post, or from the tab at the top of the blog homepage to find a retailer online or geographically near you, it makes sense to order within your country where possible.

First up, here is Elena to explain a bit more about the designs...

Hi everyone, Elena here with you

The spark of inspiration for this release came from Leandra. She had the vision of a little row of houses, a corner of a village if you will, and I'm so glad she thought of this!

I absolutely LOVED designing them to fit each other perfectly. I could draw whimsical houses all day long, building them up and decorating them with little unique elements. I know in real life they would more than likely crumble, but that's the fun of it, when crafting we can be architects and not worry about physics!

These Zini house ended up so cute and versatile. You can pile them on top of each other like a multi storey bonkers building, you can use them as hats for previous Zinski peoples or transform them into bodies if you have the urge to cut off heads and place them on top. A little single house simply alone on a hill is as perfectly charming as a whole row. They are also little enough to stick into a tree stamp to make a tree house!

These are perfect for cards, great visuals for some many occasions: Welcome Home, New Home, Dinner party invitation... but so many other type of projects also come to mind! If you stamp all 8 Zinis onto lining paper it could become a border in a child's bedroom or a framed artwork for the hallway to welcome your guests. You could use them to make a map of your neighbourhood. With typed or handwritten signs like 'Post Office', 'Pub', 'Cafe', or 'Craft Shop', you can have your own little Zinski Town! Imagine stamping them onto shrink plastic and making pendants or earrings. Don't forget you can also stamp on fabric, how cute would they be askew all over a blank fabric pencil case/cosmetic bag...or bunting. I really could go on but there's danger of this turning into a novel so wishing you lots of happy's and funs and hope you enjoy :)

Love Elena x

Price: Mini Stamp  RRP €4.68 +VAT    Size: credit card size (approx)
All stamps are individually trimmed onto cling foam with a laminated storage/index sheet.

Zini 49 (ZN49)

As soon as I saw this house, being the widest of the series, I thought i could get away with using it as a 'M'. The obvious use for these little guys is as 'new home' cards, so that was the beginning point. It has great personality this stamps, as those blinds in the windows easily look like eyeballs...perhaps this is a googley eye opportunity!!

The little mini sentiment to the right is a JOFY one (JM42), and I emulated the style of the 'heart' to create the other 3 large letters of 'HOME'.

Brayered or gel-printed backgrounds are often my go-to start point for any project. However, they can carry a bit of texture, especially if you have lots of painterly layers, so before stamping, in order to get a crisp, dark image, I always give a good sanding back to make sure the surface is smooth and silky. It is easy to add more colour with translucent paints, or watercolours on top.

Another example below, just 2 extra paint colours added: Bougainvillea and Pumpkin Soup.

Zini 50 (ZN50)

2 skinny houses, the smooth, stone looking building on the right could easily become a mill or lighthouse as it has that kind of vibe.

The gel print in the background was one of those you treasure, it's the one you get after a session where you never clean the plate, and then suddenly you get magical layers appear as you peel back the print. I always thought cleaning up crafty tools was not necessary ;)

The stunning flower is a Gwen Lafleur stamp (EGL27), so easy to lengthen that stalk, not so easy to fussy cut, but if I can do it then you can! There is a bit more of a vintage vibe to this sample, so I kept the house colouring softer. I'm keen to make more samples in softer colour combos, my instinct is to go bright with ZinskiArt stamps, but its refreshing to try out other options too.

A bit of a whacky card next, fluro hedges, fun border from ZA68 at the top, and ESC29 label and Tea Rooms plaque. A bit diverse, but it sort of looks like life on another planet!

Someone is at home, all the light are on, maybe its an tea party under the stars!

Zini 51 (ZN51)

Another 2 cutie houses. Each one has its own personality!

There is that border again, this time at the bottom. The clouds were hand drawn additions.

Look closely to see how I made 3 houses from ZN51 Heart house. If you stamps lots of these houses, then you soon enough find yourself chopping up and adding or removing sections, quite a lot of interchange is possible!

A sentiment from ESN56 is squeezed into a frame from ESC21

Another simple idea...the High street! I think the 'twisted' House could be a good halloween candidate!

Zini 52 (ZN52)

Loving the attic at the top of this 'flower house' and the arched windows are fun. The tree is a great element and its easy to make the trunk longer or shorter to suit your needs. Forest or elegant driveway?

There's that border again, and the Tree is joined by the flower border from ZN54. All stamped onto a yellow gel print. If you mask the flowers, then you can easily isolate the taller funky-style stems from the daisy clusters. The words are from ZA68.

Here is the 'High Street' sample. You can see I gently whitewashed around the houses, and above / below to let the houses pop, not much extra colour was added. used all of the last 3 Zinis for this one, and the Sun from Zini55.

Zini 53 (ZN53)

The windmill and the stripes on the pointy house remind me of a 'Helter skelter' !

Hills became the foundation for clusters of houses, and 'frankenstein' houses, chopped bits swapped out feature too.

The windmill was pieced together from 2 different background prints, then the yellow fins were fussy cut and added.

Zini 54 (ZN54)

All useful elements to use in and around your houses: fence, hedge and flowers.

The flowers were used both ends of the 'High Street' sample.

You have already seen the fluorescent hedges!

But did you spot the fences on this sample?

Zini 55 (ZN55)

And more elements with the sun, mailbox and lampost.

Went a bit lamp post mad on this sample! Really liked making the shorter one!

Although that sun does look like he's up to no good!.

Good to see the town planning comittee agreed to a lamp by the post box!

Zini 56 (ZN56)

Finally there is a whiff of tudor about these 2 with the exterior wood panelling

Not sure they built them like this in tudor times though! Wonky - yes, tall - not!

Great fun was had putting it all together and mixing up the layers

I hope you have enjoyed visiting my villages today! These stamps are available from stockists now.

Amazing samples with these new Zini minis... just love the tiny skyscraper, and wonderful paint effects and techniques throughout. Must get myself a bit more paint-oriented again!
