2018 #9 Vintage Neutrals: Tag Trio with ELB {by Claire Snowdon}

2018 Topic 9: Vintage Neutrals

Let's jump into the world of elegance. Claire has created some super tags for this post....in the classic Vintage palette of black, off white, and warm shades of brown. Yes she makes it look easy, but you could start those C*******s tags ready for December (I didn't say that...shhhh). Can i just say...GP border!!! Fabulous!! ~ Leandra

Hi everyone, it's Claire Snowdon with you today, and I'd like to share with you my trio of tags for the brand new topic of vintage neutrals.

I love making tags and this colour palette of browns is perfect for a vintage feel.  I decided to also have a play with Grunge Paste and tried out a different technique on each tag.

Each tag was created with the same colour palette of Snowflake, Vintage Lace, Toffee, Buff, Blush and Tikka Fresco Paints.  For the Grunge Paste I used three different techniques - through a stencil, stamping into the Grunge Paste and using it at the end as a border.

I used four sets of Lin Brown's stamps to create the tags (ELB28, ELB29, ELB30 and ELB33) - lots of background stamping and layering was involved using a mix of paint and archival inks.

The main focal images on each tag plus the sentiments were all stamped using Versafine Onyx Black ink - I like how it keeps all the stamp detail and is a real contrast to the background.

Stamping into the Grunge Paste on the left of this tag created a fab texture - I love the feel  of it....I used a damp finger to smooth the paste onto the tag before stamping into it.  This allowed me to gradually bring it to the same depth as the tag to blend the two surfaces and make stamping the main images easier.

My favourite tag out of the three is the one with the Grunge Paste frame - I feel it really works with the whole vintage theme and was so easy to do as well!  Adding the crinkled ribbon and twine to the top of each tag gives them a nice finishing touch - also in a vintage theme.

Thanks for joining me on the PaperArtsy blog tonight and I hope you'll join in with the challenge!
