Birthday Card {with Eclectica³ Ellen Vargo Stamps by Sue Carrington}

Hello it's Sue here and I'm back to share another quick project with you. The majority of our family birthdays fall in the run up to Christmas so before I can get stuck in to making the all important Christmas cards I need to cover off the birthdays first. So, I've taken the opportunity to share one with you this evening.

I started with the background and using a piece of Smoothy card I painted it with Chalk Fresco Finish. Then I used the Lin Brown 005 stencil with Yellow Submarine, Tango and Autumn Fire Frescos. I dried them off and then gave them a wash of watered down Chalk Fresco Finish to knock the colours back a little. I then used the circular stamp from the Ellen Vargo 02 set using Orange Blossom Archival ink.

I then added some further stamping using a stamp from the Ellen Vargo 06 stamp set using Dandelion Archival ink

The vertical panel is a piece of Smoothy card covered with book paper. I then did some second generation stamping using Dandelion Archival ink and a stamp from the Ellen Vargo 09 set. I then mixed a little Autumn Fire Fresco Finish with some Grunge Paste and used a TCW stencil. I've edged the background and the panel with some Autumn Fire and then added a double layer of lace.

The main image is from the Ellen Vargo 10 set and is stamped and clear embossed onto some Smoothy card that I've brayered with a mix of Pumpkin Soup, Autumn Fire and Chutney Frescos. The scallop edge is hand drawn on some book paper and cut out. The sentiment is from the Lin Brown 05 set and is stamped onto a piece of brayered Smoothy card. To finish I added some little flower beads.

That's another birthday card crossed off my list ! I hope you've enjoyed tonight's project.

See you again soon !
Sue

A huge thanks to Sue from all at PaperArtsy. we love the layers and texture on this card. It's a great idea to go with a fairly monotone colour scheme, that makes the texture and the highlights of lace and book text really pop.

We would love you to join in with our monthly challenge. If you are inspired by any of this month's guests who have blogged between Nov 1st 2014 and Nov 30th 2014 then join in and link up your creativity HERE. I love the warm colour scheme on this; the lace and the book text. It's the perfect backdrop to the EV stamps. A lovely birthday card for someone who celebrates their birthday at this time of year: a winter colour palette without being too Christmassy! Perfectly pitched! xx
