Michelle Webb #1 .... Bluebird Tag

"I’m back again and sad to say this is my final week as guest designer for PaperArtsy.  I’ve had the best time playing with lots of PaperArtsy paints and stamps, they’re the best quality to use and you can’t fail to get fantastic results with them.  I have a fabulous stash of PaperArtsy goodies now so you can guarantee I’ll be making things left, right and centre in the future".

The first for this week’s makes is a colourful tag, painted with Fresco Finish Paints. By the way I need to get my hands on those new colours! I feel a purchase coming on.

I started off painting up a tag using London Bus (red), Smoked Paprika (red/orange) on the top left and bottom right edges, then towards the middle using Zesty Zing (yellow), and Sky (blue). I wanted to make the Zesty Zing and the Sky mix to make green, so it would blend nicely towards the middle.

I used Sienna and Peach Archival Ink with the "Oriental" text stamp from Hot Picks Xtra 01 stamp set.

HPXTRA 01

I also used a blue and yellow Archival Ink with the same stamp to match in with the colour of paints I used. I didn’t want to cover all of the tag with the text stamp, because I liked the colours so much I didn’t want to hide it, so I left the centre clear of stamping.

I stamped the birdcage from the HP1004 stamp set on to acetate using black StazOn Ink. This ink gives me fine detail and dries quickly.

HP1004

I cut some black card bigger than the size of the tag as a border and backing layer for the tag. I then stamped the "Oriental" text stamp onto the black card using a VersaMark Ink Pad.

I then brushed the embossed detail with Perfect Pearls Mica Powders. I used similar colours to what was on the edge of tag, to co-ordinate with the tag.

I edged the tag with a black Adirondack Dabber and then used a Tim Holtz "Crackle Stamp" with some gold Distress Stain across the whole of the tag.

I attached the "birdcage" stamped acetate and stuck a small piece of black chain from the top of the tag down to the top of the birdcage, to give the illusion that it was hanging there.

I coloured a ribbon using Distress Stains to match the colours in the tag.

I stamped the "sentiment" from the HP1004 stamp set directly onto the tag with black StazOn Ink.

I really love that Oriental text stamp, it looks great with all of the above ink colours too.

I hope you get some time to make a painty tag this week, those Fresco Paints are so wonderful to stamp onto. Have fun, see you tomorrow. xx

Leandra Says: The colour tones look amazing and by building up the background with similiar coloured inks creates a real depth to this tag. This tag emphasises the versatility of this background stamp set.

Gillian Says: Your choice of colours really suit the Oriental Text stamp, yet another stamp I need to dig out. The outer mica detail really makes the center tag colours pop.
