2015 Topic14: Flowers{Challenge}

Topic 14: Flowers

Hi Everyone, Leandra here to introduce a new topic on the PaperArtsy Blog: Flowers.

Before we get into the nitty gritty, here is Darcy with the winner for our last challenge which of course was Time.

Darcy here...I loved watching the entries come in for this challenge. Clocks always look so nostalgic to me, a very emotive theme. However you didn't go all vintage, there were some wonderful, bright funky takes on this theme. Very imaginative use, not just of clock faces but time related words too.
Sooooo, the winning name out of the hat for Topic 13: Time..is...Jane Walliss from DizzyCrafter.

Please email Darcy to claim your prize darcydotneedles@hotmail.com

It's Leandra back with you to explore Flowers. First up, here is a short video.

Oh my, where to begin. Flowers are a central theme that crosses over all our stamp collections here at PaperArtsy.

Ellen Vargo created a stamp set of 'leaves/petals' ... EEV09 whihc on the face of it makes you scratch your head, but when you see the samples below it's a lightbulb moment!

these stamps are easily transformed into flowers as you can see in the samples below ...
Blog post here for the above image

and here is the post for this gorgeous sample.

And then Jo Myhill came up with these gorgeous samples that are more 3 dimensional using the same stamp set! You can read about them on Jo's blog here.

Many moons ago Lin used to teach lots of metal working classes, and an early ArtsyCrafts Retreat involved making this layered flower with a UTEE centre. You can read more about the method here, but this post from Lin dates back to 2010 ! Can you believe it! The concept centres around our Hot Pick stamps and dies HP1004 whihc were released April 2010.

Fast forward to early July 2015, and we have a few new Hot Pick flowers, once of which (HP1505) Astrid Maclean made this gorgeous sample with.

Lin Brown's flower stamps have been hugely popular this year. Again, another stunning sample from a recent blog post If you scroll down you will find the step-out instructions for this one.

Back to the metal, again, Lin shows in great style how it's done!

And finally a gorgeous piece by Wanda Hentges...

It wouldn't be flowers if there wasn't an element of JoFY going down somewhere! Last week on the blog, Tracy Scott shared this stunning altered clock using Jo's stamps, any chance to show you this again...

And something from Jo herself with her newest stamps...

Of course, this is just a small representation of this topic using stamps, there are many three dimensional ideas out there too, and i have pinned loads already.

Check out my Pinterest page Blog#14: Flowers . I'll be pinning more over the next 2 weeks while this topic is open.

I hope you can find time to join in!

Leandra

You are welcome to share your ideas and link up your creativity to this page.

All links go in the draw to win a voucher to spend on products of your choice from the PaperArtsy online store. The Flowers link will close 17:00 (London Time) Sunday, Aug 9th , winner will be announced 2 hours later at 19:00.

1. The challenge is a chance for you to show how you have been inspired by a particular technique of the fortnight. Your entry should contain:
- a mention of which post inspired you and why, and
- a link in your blog post to that original post on the PA blog.

The whole concept of this challenge is 'play along with us'. You are encouraged to put your own twist on ideas you see on our blog. We love to see how you are inspired!

2. The link you put on our linky page must lead directly to the specific post on your blog where you have explored the technique/ idea mentioned in point 1 above. Don't link to the home page of your blog, or we will be unable to find the post to leave you comments.

3. Spam links will be deleted.

4. We prefer your challenge post is created exclusive to our challenge, but if our topic fits perfectly with another challenge, then of course your post may link to both if you feel it is appropriate.

5. You are most welcome to use stamps/ products/ substrates you have to hand from a variety of companies, we do not expect you to exclusively use PA products - it's lovely when you do though!

6. You can enter as many times as you like in the fortnight. We don't want to restrict your creativity or participation! Link closes at 17:00 Sunday Aug 9th  (London Time)

7. The winner of the random draw will receive a £50 credit to be redeemed on the PaperArtsy Website, the credit includes VAT and postage. We request that one of your purchases is an A5 rubber stamp. You can add any other items to your basket, but the final total should not exceed £50

8. Each Sunday fortnight the winner will be announced at 19:00, also, in the same post, the link for the next fortnight will be posted. It's your responsibility to claim your prize coupon from Darcy: email her darcydotneedles@hotmail.com
