Eclectica³ Kay Carley
Following
on perfectly from her successful releases at the start of the year, Kay
brings us more glorious flowers, and I can see the new stencil is going
to become an oft-used staple in my stash!
~ Leandra
Hi everyone, Kay here to show you my newest stamps designed for PaperArtsy.
I
am sooooooooo excited to be releasing another stamp set and stencil.
This time my focus for the stamp set was foxgloves and bees combined
with a leaf stencil.
With this stamp set I purposely designed a couple of delicate flowers which I felt would provide a good contrast to the bigger flowers on this sheet. You'll notice on my samples below that the delicate flowers can be stamped multiple times to make taller versions, multi-headed versions etc... I also incorporated some twirly tendrils again - a left one and a right one, in two different sizes - these can be added to any of the flower stems or they can double up as 'bee trails'! Talking of the 'bees' I have given you three different sizes to help with 'creating the illusion of depth' as well as having them flying in different directions!
As for my leaf stencil.................you have got four different sizes of 'sprigs'!!! When using them with paints, ink pads etc... think about joining the sprigs up. (Just like I'm always saying to do with the flowers.) They have all been designed with a 'slight curve' so that when you flip the stencil you can have them leaning either to the left or to the right. The large sprig would also make a great tree or tree branch!! I know that I will be using this particular stencil a lot - not just with this particular stamp set but with all my others too!!

Tonight
I wanted to give you a sense of what I might get up to with these
stamps, but over the next 2 nights, you'll get plenty more inspiration
from 2 other fantastic bloggers in their preferred style.
Pretty in Pink using EKC07, EKC08 and PS061 by Kay Carley
With
this stamp set I chose to add a few different sizes of bees but in 'my
world' they have to be 'friendly bees' so you'll notice that mine do not
have 'stings'!
I
often add elements to a sheet that I feel can be stamped multiple times
to create multi-headed flowers etc.. The blue spikey flowers here were
stamped three times to create that taller, multi headed version. I was
lucky when I stamped mine as I got all the stems to join together
perfectly but if you 'miss' just use a black multi-liner to fill in any
gaps and no-one will be any the wiser!
The
soft foliage along the base of my panel was achieved using my brand new
stencil (PS061). I am thinking that these leaves would look fabulous
used with Grunge Paste which I can't wait to try out!!
The
'twirly tendrils' allow you to change the look of the flowers - these
can be added to any of the flower stems or you could make a border with
them. (The tall white flowers in the background are from EKC07.) This whole panel was created to give the impression of a lovely summer's day.
'Dusk' using EKC06, EKC07,EKC08, PS059 and PS061 by Kay Carley
For my second project I wanted to show how well my February release of stamps (in particular EKC06 and EKC07) and my PS059
stencil work seamlessly with my new stamp set and stencil. I feel this
is because I drew all these sets at the same time so I had it firmly
fixed in my brain how I wanted all these stamps and stencils to work
together.
You
can see how I really like to build up 'layers' of stamping and
stencilling which was why it was important for me to have stamps and
stencils that would all complement each other. My EKC07
stamp set (from my February release) was purposely designed with
imagery that I felt could be used time and time again to support all my
other stamp sets. For the first time I actually stamped and embossed my
background flowers (from EKC07) - I wasn't too sure how it would turn out and if I would be able to successfully stamp on top of them - it turns out I could!!
Another
'first' for me was painting a whole A4 sheet of cardstock!! I thought
it then gave lots of possibilities!! The image above was taken before I
added words and 3D elements and to be honest I very nearly stopped at
this point as I really liked it how it looked at this stage! I even
thought about cutting it up and making it into a triptych as that would
have worked well or I could have cut it in half and made two
cards/pictures out of it. (See......lots of possibilities!!!)
Having
different sizes of the same image, I personally feel, makes the whole
composition come alive........... what do you think??? You might also
have noticed how I stamped multi-headed flowers again and angled some of
the smaller flowers so that they weren't all upright - this gives a
more relaxed appearance to those flowers which I think makes the whole
composition look more natural. Now all I need to do is find a deep box
frame to put my picture in!!
I
really hope that this has given you an insight as to what I was
thinking when I was designing this release and I would honestly love to
hear your thoughts. Do you think it is a good idea having smaller and
larger imagery contained within a stamp set or would you prefer to have
different imagery altogether???
I am now super excited to see what treats we have coming up over the next two nights using EKC08 and PS061 from two of our super duper bloggers!!..............
