NEW {Eclectica³ Tracy Scott} with Carol Fox

Colour Me Happy by Carol Fox

Tonight we have another take on how to use Tracy's stamps from Carol Fox. Lots of layering with elements selected to layer and 'pop', Carol has also used plenty of deep bluey-purples with sparks of warm pinks and orange to great effect here.

A reminder of the new stamps...

Hi everyone, Carol here to show you an idea with Tracy's brand new stamps she has designed for PaperArtsy.

I am a massive fan of art journalling and I adore colour, so Tracy's stamps are right up my street. I usually go for more rounded shapes in my journalling so I set myself a bit of a challenge for this and decided to use the more angular sheets of stamps as I thought it would push me out of my comfort zone.

I really adored the long shape from the ETS10 set, as growing up in the 70's it reminded me so much of a dress I used to have, that I thought I looked the 'bees knees' in and wore to death. Having recently seen photos, I do now revise my opinion!! but this set of stamps just conjured up some lovely memories and I think they will be a go-to set for me for a long time.

These stamps just screamed colour at me so I went for a darker background to try and give them some balance as I thought a white base would not give the colours enough pop.

I painted and glued down all my images and then it all just looked like background. So I  to re-stamped the big star from the long cascade  to pop it off the page a bit and I quite like how this looked.

I also thought the butterfly just need to be given that extra bit of treatment too so I double stamped it, added a bit of stitching to add interest and hold it all together before sticking it in place.

I do have a major weakness for washi tape as I love the interest and depth it can add to items, and I do really like to make my own as I have here, using Micro-pore tape. The paints gave it a lovely muted look and give the stamps a completely different look.

As soon as I saw this release of stamps it was this set that caught my imagination, they are very different to any others I own because as I said previously I have always tended to go for rounded shapes and this set has a  bit of both. My main colour is done with the Gelli Plate and I then added extra bits in with odd pencils that gave me the brightness I wanted. As the set has no words and I do like a bit of text on my projects I added a quote that is actually from a set of freebie Digi print outs that Darcy has on her blog.

I am really looking forward to trying these stamps on fabric as I think the shapes will lend themselves very well to quilting and the images are big enough to be able to do this with, without it being to fiddly, imagine that star all fat with wadding behind it, just got to clear a bit of time in my schedule to play with that idea.

Carol xx
