NEW {Eclectica³ Seth Apter} with Kate Yetter

Turning a flat stamp into a 3D creation is always a challenge, but Seth's layered stamps do lend themselves to this concept. Kate has brought them to lofe with colour and further embellishments, take a look!

Hello Everyone, Kate here to share some stamps from Seth Apter's new release.

I am a lover of unique stamps especially those with a vintage flair. Seth’s new sets are unique and vintage, full of eye catching focal images. Some of the smaller, complimentary images look like old hardware. They are great as a stand-alone image or for background texture. When these came in the mail, my creative wheels were whirling from all the possibilities.



While creating this project, I struggled to come up with the perfect way to show off these amazing images. They don’t need a lot of embellishing because there is so much detail, so I dedicated most of my efforts to showcasing the image and making the details pop off the paper.

 My assemblage box is recycled and covered in old book paper. I used Fresco Chalk Paints on the box and to color the images.

I doodled with a black pen to highlight some of the shadows and details of the images.

Perhaps my favorite addition to this piece is the twine that I dyed with Distress Stain and threaded through the eyelets. I think the natural fiber was the last thing I needed to pull this piece together.

I loved playing with these stamps and am looking forward to many more hours of fun with them. I hope you enjoyed these this projects and that you are encouraged to use images as focal points minus all the extra embellishments.

Well here we are at the last of our new releases for mid year. We are wrapping it all up with the nicest guy in the world: Seth Apter. These images are going to open up all kinds of possibilities. Seth has used his own style of creativity as inspiration for these images. They can be layered, reconfigured and represented in more ways than might first be apparent. Over the next 2 nights you will get a taste of the options. They are big, bold and beautifully detailed!...

Hi everyone, Seth Apter back on the blog and I couldn't be more excited. Today is the day my newest stamp sets from PaperArtsy are being released. 

 There are two new sets available and they represent a new direction for me. All of the stamp designs are based on artwork that I have previously made in my NYC studio. Elements have been broken up, abstracted, digitally altered, and reconfigured. I am so pleased with how these turned out, as the deeply etched red rubber really allows all the detail, depth, texture and dimension of the original designs to come through. I swear sometimes I look at the flat stamped image and it actually looks 3D. 

 The larger stamp designs in both sets can serve as a focal point for collage, journaling, mixed media, card making and the like. The smaller, individual elements can be layered together, used separately, stamped and cut up, etc.  I have a number of specific and special uses for many of the smaller stamps and will be sharing those in the upcoming weeks.

Tonight I wanted to share a collage that I made with Set 06. I am also eager to share more inspiration over the next 2 nights when 2 other incredible bloggers and artists share their own creations in their preferred style using my stamps.

I decided to go vintage for this piece and create a collage using all 4 stamps from the set. 


Like most of my work, I went for texture, layers and dimension. 


I added a number of found, vintage and altered metal bits to add to the vintage flavor. 


But as you can see, the detail in the stamps is really the star of the show.


It has been quite fun using my own art images in different ways than they were originally created. Each individual stamp from both sets has inspired me in unique ways and I will be sharing more creations and stamping ideas soon. I especially look forward to seeing what you all create with these stamps.
