Tracy Scott - A5 stamp set 096 {TS096}

So I've had a dreamcatcher on my list of stamp design ideas for some time and was never sure how I wanted to proceed with the idea, and then all of a sudden it came to me.... I wanted a multi functional set that could be used in multiple ways and really give lots of possibilities, and it truly worked out better than I expected.

I like the idea of multiple frames so that you could produce varying sizes of dreamcatcher suitable for different projects.

The idea was that you could layer these various elements up so that there would not only be a variety of sizes but also a multitude of design options to use, ensuring you can change up the look of the design.

But what if you are not a huge fan of dreamcatchers?.... This set has been designed so that even if you don't want to make a dreamcatcher, you can use the elements such as the feathers to create a background element, and those additional border pieces can be used as frames, and even the beaded elements can be used to create a mandala!!!

And of course there is always the options to cut the circular elements apart to create floral embellishments for all your projects.
This is a versatile set for sure and I can see me using this one in lots of different ways.

Tracy Scott - A5 stamp set 097 {TS097}

Well we all know that I love a flower stamp and I'm always looking for new options to add to my ever expanding collection. And I haven't designed a floral cluster before, so felt that now might be the ideal time with spring fully on its way up here in the Northern hemisphere.

I've always loved creating girls with flowery hair and knew instantly that this set would work so well for this.  I love to colour with my Prismacolor pencils and the design of these stamps really do lend themselves to creating the most beautiful blooms.

When I designed the floral cluster I made sure that the individual flowers could easily be cut apart from the main design so that they could also be used as stand alone designs, in my opinion this gives far more versatility and options for all of your projects.

The smaller elements in the set were designed so that you could create 3D elements to really elevate your projects, and also so that you have varying options to play with.

You can even create additional embellishments by using the petal and leave shape plus the original floral designs and centres to produce something completely new!!!

Tracy Scott - A5 stamp set 098 {TS098}

If you have followed me for any amount of time you will know that I adore stamps that I can use to create interest patterns and whilst I have touched on damask, swirls and fleur-de-lys before as additional accents to a stamp set, I have wanted to create a set dedicated to these elements for a long time,  I knew that now was the time and I am in love !!!

There are so many possibilities for this set, I have used them in other samples you will see as you scroll through this post as background elements which I absolutely adore but for this sample I chose to create something different.

You already know that I cannot resist a mandala and most of my stamp sets I release I will attempt to create one with individual stamps within the set and of course this was no exception....

I used 3 of the smaller elements to create this mandala and believe me I could have gone on forever.

I just grabbed some stamps and began to build, these stamps made it so easy to create a design so quickly.

Adding accents with colour and gel pens really changes the designs up and with all the elements in the set the possible designs and patterns really are endless.

PaperArtsy Stencils {Large}
Price: RRP €6.58 +VAT
Large Size: 6.25" x 9.5" (16 x 24cm)
Robust mylar designed to offer longevity, deep texture and easy clean up

PaperArtsy Stencil by Tracy Scott 462 {PS462}

Who doesn't love a circle right?..... This stencil was designed with versatility in mind.
What about using grunge paste to create some base texture onto a project or as I have in this project with embossing powder to create a real focal element to really enhance and centre my Egyptian goddess.....

And how about using the bottom of the stencil to create the focal pattern for her dress.....

Of course this stencil will be ideal for backgrounds on any art journal page and how about using the circular element with multi coloured distress inks to create and fantastic card background which could then be accentuated with any of the floral elements in the new stamps.

I love that the main circular element on this stencil can be rotated, here I have double stencilled to create a shadow appearance under the gold, which is a fantastic 3D effect.

PaperArtsy Stencil by Tracy Scott 463 {PS463}

I don't very often coordinate stencils with stamps but I knew that by creating this one in my signature large floral style would give me so many more options to be use with the new floral stamps but to also be able to use as a stand alone option.

I just adore the size of the flower on this stencil, its perfect for adding a larger element to a background with quick and easy coverage, but also as I have with this sample when used with the focal floral stamp it really does become a large focal element in itself.

How about using the large flower as a template for a cut page, the size will really act as a statement design element.

As there are some larger spaces on this stencil, it will be ideal to stamp designs through or even use on the gel plate for some really cool effects.

And did you notice the pattern element of the stencil peaking through in the background of this sample,  I know that this will be a favourite of mine for adding detail to backgrounds for sure.

PaperArtsy Stencil by Tracy Scott 464 {PS464}

More flowers... of course.... what else was it going to be?....
I absolutely love a floral stencil, and daisy style flowers are definitely a favourite for sure.  I just love the way that they look when you add them into a background of a project whether using paint, grunge paste or embossing powder they just always add a really pretty element to a project.

For this project they just work perfectly with the florals of the new stamp set and are quick and easy to layer and cover an entire background.
And did you notice the large focal flower created with more than one element in the stamp set to design something entirely new,  I also cut apart the cluster stamp to create the trailing elements for this project!!!

What about using the stencil as a drawing template to create perfect doodled daisy flowers, I have designed stencils previously to do this but this one would be a fabulous addition.

Of course you do not have to use the entire stencil and can just pick out individual elements to suit your project.

And what if you used distress inks in multi colours and rotated the stencil to create a stunning rainbow background for your next card or project?

I hope I have given you some ideas of what you can achieve with thew new release and don't forget that I will be live in the PaperArtsy People Facebook Group shortly to share lots more ideas with you.  I look forward to seeing what you create .....

2023 Topic 4 : Mail Art {by Etsuko Noguchi} with Sara Naumann stamps

Hi everyone
Etsuko (My favorite things) here with you today.

Our current topic Mail Art gives me a great opportunity to create something to use; Washi-paper. In the old days in Japan, letters were written with a brush using washi paper, but it's not easy today! However I thought I'd follow suit and make a tidings of flowers letter out of old fashioned scroll letter using wonderful Sara Naumann stamps and stencils.

For the Texture main theme I have used collage of thin washi-paper dyed with Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics, Momigami-paper applied to the surface case, underlying background showing through thin Tengucho-paper and picture postcard made of thin paper.

I decided to use blue and peony as the main colours, chose PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic-Bougainvillea, Pea Coat and Blueberry by thinning these colours as much as possible and layering the paper, it was made to look purple, I also made another colour of Heavy Cream for the stamping.

I used Sara Naumann stamp set 67 (ESN67) for the flowers illustration of the letter and same Sara Naumann stamp set 65 (ESN65) for the belly band decoration of the case.

The following three types of washi papers were used for this project. A little thick Washi-paper for the letter scroll, Momigami-paper (wrinkled paper) on the surface of the case, finally I used ultra-thin Tengucho-paper (the paper often used for restoring old books or Japanese paintings.)

When I dyed the Tengucho-papers the paper was so thin that the colour it applied would pass right through, so I laid down a craft sheet and painted it.

The dyed Tengucho-paper is cut into strips and used to frame the flower paper below. In the three pieces of flower papers below are ESN67 was stamped with Tsukineko -VersaFine Clear (Nocturne) on two pieces of Tengucho-paper, and coloured later.

The PaperArtsy Stencil by Sara Naumann (PS364) was reverse-stencilled with Ranger Industries - Distress Oxide (Faded Jeans) and it was made for the border of the letter scroll. I ended up not using the two sheets on the left.

As shown in the previous picture, I made a case mount with card stock and stamped the ESN65 Key and Voyage with Ranger Industries - Archival Ink (Cobalt)--(picture A). Next I prepared Momigami-paper (picture B) and glued it on top so that the stamp pattern underneath could be seen through a little, but it only helped a little. (picture C)

I added PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic-Southern Skies with water to the surface of the case by splattering it. Also I did PS364 and gel printed with Distress Oxide (Faded jeans) for the back of case. The original plan was to gel print the PS364 on the Tengucho-paper and glue it on the back of the case. However, I was worried that if thin paper was coated with a water based gel medium the pattern would smudge all over the paper.

I made the belly band and the decoration, the decoration stamped ESN65 heart on two sheets of paper (the papers made two pieces of Tengucho-paper glued together) with Distress Oxide (wilted violet and faded jeans) and finished with clear embossing powder. The two heart sheets paper were placed in a diamond-shaped frame with the patterns slightly shifted.

The belly band was stencilled with the Distress Oxide (wilted violet and faded jeans) using PaperArtsy Stencil by Sara Naumann by (PS 362) on the Washi- paper, then attached a small magnet to the belly band to hold the case. Also I made postage stamp using Ink and Dog mini stamp MN126 and MN127 then I pasted to the band.

The project using Sara's supplies from Topic Mail Art was so much fun that was a pity that it was over, so I made the picture postcards in the same way. I painted PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic - Bubble Gum, Lemon Meringue and A bit Fishy on a card stock, randomly stamped Ink the Dog mini stamp (MN131, MN132, MN125 and MN126) with VersaFine (Morning Mist) and cut with scalloped cutting Dies for the postcard frame and post stamps.

I made picture postcards used Sara Naumann stamp set 66 (ESN66) with VersaFine Clear (Nocturne) and clear embossing powder on a vellum. These birds to painted from the back. I glued frames and postage stamps to the vellum cards and decorate with ribbons. And I played it a little sideways.

I wanted to make the background of the letter like watercolour paint, so I used transparent Southern Skies diluted with water. I used a soft flat brush with 1-inch bristles to apply paint in gradate shades and draw a curve in a horizontal line. Then stenciled Southern Skies diluted with water from dot stencil on the upper curve with a sponge. To splattered the bottom with water and sprinkled silver embossing powder to embossed. Also I used flower cutting die to the dyed blue Washi-paper. I pasted the border for edging that I made with PS364 from the back.This mounting is like a picture frame made of cloth or paper used for hanging scrolls, and it's not often used for the like letter, I used it here just as a decoration.

I put pieces of flower paper in the middle and made a collage with dyed Tengucho-paper to make the frame, and placed each on the letter scroll with gel medium. On the thin flower papers the background of the letter scroll bellow is slightly transparent at the same time, so that it becomes the background of the flowers. I made the letter to tell someone about a tidings of flowers, and Japanese sentiments next to each frame are short poem about these flowers.

To say that all the content in this project was good it is not true, but I think this continuous scrolling without breaks works will provide me with a lot of ideas to create interesting works in the future. Sara's stamps and stencils are a mixture of abstract and figurative elements, and our thoughts work flexibly, so we can create fun works, I love them very much.
Thank you so much for joying me.
