Welcome Back GD: Pam Thorburn Project #1 Mono Printed Layout

Hi everyone, Pam here again with the first of my last guest designer blog posts. 

Today's project is a scrapbook page on a monoprinted background. The layout features Ellen Vargo stamp sets Eclectica 03 and Eclectica 04 and my homemade Gelly Plate. You can read about how to make the Gelly Plate on here  In addition, for this layout I use Fresco Paints, PaperArtsy 12x12 Chatsworth Papers a little manila tag,and some wooden embellishments.

My layout shows my daughter with her cousin's baby boy. All of our extended family live in Australia, and Emily gets so excited when she sees them on the rare occasions we get to visit Australia. That excitement is even greater when there has been a new addition to the family since the last visit, which I  I think you can clearly see from this photo!

So here's how I made the layout - I poured  some Guacomle Fresco paint onto the Gelly Plate and brayered over the top to spread the paint.

I placed my white cardstock over the Gelly Plate and burnished it down to take this print. I like how the spiral pattern of my paint pouring remained and made an impression on the print.

Next I made a mask. I took the circle stamp from the set and use it to trace around onto plain copy paper.

And then cut the circles out. As usual, I wasn't too fussy about neatness. I just wanted some obviously hand drawn circles.

I covered the jelly plate by with Tinned Peas  using my brayer .....

Next, I placed the mask over the paint surface.

Then took a print, ensuring I had lined the Gelly Plate up with the previous print.

Then I used the circle stamp and overstamped my solid green circles using Little Black Dress (Sorry about my overhead light reflecting on the Gelly Plate.)

Then I used the circle stamp from the set and some red paint.

I stamped the horizontal lines and the diamond onto Chatsworth Paper.

Next I cut them out and made some arrow shapes, which I glued onto black card, and then cut around.

I painted my wooden cogs with Little Black Dress.

The next step was to begin constructing my layout. I layered some Chatsworth Papers and machine stitched them together, before adhering my photo, ensuring I left the top edge of the photo free of adhesive. I painted the tag with Guacamole drew some faux stitching around the edge, and added a twine bow before slipping it under the photo.  

I then added my embellishments-the painted cogs on circles of Chatsworth Papers...

... and the arrows, and a Dymo tape title.

This is how the completed page looks.

So there you have it-a mono-printed background-all possible with simple materials.
