Sue Carrington #3 Tag Screen ....

"For my final project this week I decided I wanted to do lots of stamping and use as many of my Vintage stamps as possible! Tags are perfect for this type of crafting and I decided that I would make a screen of tags so that it would stand up and I could keep it on display". 

I’ve used a piece of A3 white card and the Sizzix Tag Die to cut the tags. When I folded the card I’d got it in my head that they would all be attached together but  I soon realised that this was never going to work, but thought  I could get round that at a later stage. 

For tag #1, I masked off the tag joined to it and then blended some Limelight and Beach Hut over the tag using a baby wipe. I love this technique which I was lucky enough to be taught by the very talented Lin Brown at one of her recent workshops. 

After drying the paint with my heat gun I then used Snowflake with a stencil.

Again, using a baby wipe I blended Zesty Zing, Beach Hut and Limelight over the tag and the stencilling. The Snowflake resists the paint beautifully and lets the pattern show through. 

I’ve used the Vintage ID 02 set for this tag. I stamped the lovely lady (I love this stamp!) and then masked her off with a Post It Note and stamped over her. 

Moving on to tag #2, I’ve used the same colours of FrescoFinish Paint but used a little more of the Beach Hut. I’ve stencilled again with Snowflake and dried if off with my heat gun. 

Using a baby wipe I’ve blended more Fresco Finish over the top, and as you can see the Snowflake really does work fantastically well to resist the paint. 

For this tag I used Vintage ID03, masking off the main image and then stamping without an acrylic block so the images aren’t perfect. 

I wanted to warm things up a little for this tag so I used some Smoked Paprika as well as some Pumpkin Soup and Limelight. Once dry I stencilled again with Snowflake.

This is how this tag looked with its layer of Fresco Finish over the top, I’ve used a little bit of Baltic Blue on this one to add some depth. 

I used Vintage ID 04, masking and stamping without an acrylic block again. I think you’re getting the general idea by now! 

For the last tag I used more Beach Hut along with the Limelight and a little Baltic Blue. 

I’ve used the Vintage ID07 for this tag, I love the expression on the woman’s face ! I also really liked how the stencilling shows through on her face. 

The tags all made I then decided that to link them together I would used the sentiment from Vintage ID03. As I wanted to separate the words I masked off parts of the stamp so that I could create some space in between the lines of text. I stamped it onto a piece of white card that I’d blended more Fresco Finish over. 

Before I started to assemble everything I sponged some Baltic Blue around the edges of all of the tags to define them a little. I also used Mini 44 and Snowflake and stamped randomly over all of the tags (you’ll see this in the final photo). 

Thinking that I was about finished I realised I’d not glued the little round things (sorry I don’t know the official name!) that sit over the hole at the top of the tag. So, not wanting to try and add cardboard and make it blend in, I decided to use metal instead. I used an embossing folder and then coated them with Bora Bora, Inky Pool and then a light sponging of Little Black Dress. 

I mounted all of the tags onto black card and I got round my problem of them being in two halves by leaving a little flap on one of the pieces of black card that tucked very neatly inside the other half. 

At this point I also decided to use my white Posca pen and write over the top of the word ‘dream’ on the first tag so that it popped a little !
