A note from Leandra:
Seth oozes the joy of creativity, each release brings new marks, shapes, designs that get your fingers itching to create those magical layers in your journal or perhaps on different surfaces that speak to you. How he pulls these layers together is shared below, with plenty of tips and compositional comments to help you along the way.
Seth will be along to share with you LIVE his new products and ideas over in our Facebook Group, 'PaperArtsy People' shortly after this post publishes, and ... don't forget
These stamps are available EXCLUSIVELY from our approved stockists. Hello to all the PaperArtsty lovers out there. Seth Apter back on the blog today. I am excited to share with you, an all-new release of stamps. There are three sets and a total of 22 designs, all of which are waiting for you to use your creative voice to make them your own and create magic.
As will always be true of one of my collections, you will find grungy designs, imperfect marks, letters, numbers, circles, lines, and all those elements that are tailor-made for mixed media. Let's have a look....
Red Rubber Stamps (A5 set)
Price: RRP €23.00 +VAT
Size:5" x 6" (13 x16.5cm)
All stamps are individually trimmed onto cling foam, with a laminated storage/index sheet.
ESA43
BE FEARLESS
Set ESA43 includes seven stamps to help you make art fearlessly! The piece highlighted below uses three of the stamps from the set.
I love using non-traditional designs as focal points and in this artwork, the embossed jumble of numbers serves as the main feature.
Right next to each number grouping is my new favorite background stamp from the release with a combination of wonky squares and softer spots and splats.
And no surprise that this set also includes a phrase - one that sums up my hope for all your creative activity.
SPIN
Set ESA43 also includes several circles, which are used repeatedly in different ways in Spin.
By using different ink colors and backgrounds, differently sized circle die cuts, and distinct borders, the two circle stamps can take on many different looks.
A closer look at the background shows a soft grid, pulled from the center of the square stamp from the set as well as the squiggle stamp pulled from ESA44.
ALL THE COLORS
This artwork not only uses several stamps from ESA43, but also brings in a stamp from the all-new ESA44 as well as an older stamp from ESA24, highlighting the fact that I always try to create stamp designs that work well with my previous releases.
The star of this show is most definitely the square, gridded stamp with the hand-drawn, cross hatched border. For this piece, the grid was filled with watercolors in a mosaic of color. But you could just as easily add letters, numbers, words, and marks - or simply let the background show through.
A closer look also shows that detail was added with the wonky squares background stamp from the same set as well as both the background script and the linear bar stamps from new Set ESA44. The ALL THE COLORS phrase from ESA24 sums up this piece well.
ESA44
DESTINATION
This piece uses a single stamp from ESA44. It was designed as a background stamp but works well here as the focal element.
I love the versatility of this stamp. You could use it as a whole, choose just a few segments, or stamp is multiple times to cover a large area.
The gaps in the design could be filled in with different colors, numbers, letters, words, or marks. Or, as in this piece, can be left as is so that the background shows through.
EVERYWHERE
This piece highlights the linear repetition that a hallmark of many of the stamps in this release.
The following image highlights how simple it is to repeatedly use the bar stamp to cover an area larger than the stamp itself.
ESA45
THE PASSAGE OF TIME
Set ESA45 includes three circle stamps but a fourth stamp that is a trio of small circles. I love the symbolism of circles but they also serve to guide the eye across an artwork - as can be seen in The Passage of Time.
Always remember that circle stamps can be 'sliced' and used off the edge. The adds a sense of a border to your work.
And speaking of borders, I have used just the edges of the square lines stamp to add some detail at both the bottom and the top of the piece. Plus this art also includes the word memories - a stamp from another prior release ESA24.
COLORFUL
I love using what might seem like background stamps to create focal images and in this art piece, I did that twice.
The area of the left features and beautiful and subtly distressed Spanish tile motif.
The area on the right has pulled from set ESA44 and I chose it because the square grid echoes the idea of a tiled floor.
FOLLOW THE SIGNS
All of my stamp sets typically include stamps that are both linear and curvy as I love the contrast between the two graphic elements.
Lines always make me think of journaling so I placed the largest of the two lined stamps from this set in such a way that it can be used for text.
Both the circle stamp and the Spanish tile stamp add the curvy contrast.
I hope you have been inspired by the stamps and the artwork made using them. My style is grungy but the beauty of these abstract designs is that you can take them and make them your own style. I cannot wait to see how you use them so please share on social media and tag PaperArtsy and me!
As always, a major thank you to the PaperArtsy team for the opportunity to share my creative ideas with you and for offering so many people so many tools to make their creative ideas come to life!
