Miriam's gorgeous colour combo along with the fab faux hinges makes a wonderful wrapped journal with the gorgeously quirky Squiggly Ink stamps.

Hi everyone, it's Miriam with you today, and I'd like to share with you a wrapped journal that I made using the amazing Squiggly Ink Bricks and Mortar stamps.  I have had these in my stash since they were released.  I love this collection.  They work amazingly well with bright colours as I have done so here, but they also look fabulous on more muted and vintage projects.

I wanted to create a small journal to not only show case the versatility of the stamps but to also create a keepsake where I can jot down a few memories.

I had great fun creating the journal and then the pages. I kept the backgrounds fairly simple as I wanted to showcase the Squiggly Ink stamps. Bricks and Mortar Sets 1, 2, & 3.

I used colours that would complement turquoise, opting for Slimed and Cherry Red as contrasting colours. I loved how these all looked together.

  

  

I used the same colours for the stamps, creating patches of painted surface and then simply stamped the images and cut them out.

The hinges were stamped twice as I wanted it to look as though they were attached to the front of the journal. My closure was made using a small magnet to keep the clasp together.

I also found that due to the heavy weight of the card stock that I used for the pages inside, the journal slanted to one side. To combat this, I added a belly band which I have also used as somewhere to keep trinkets and tags for memories.

I added splashes of gold, white gel pen and paint pens to highlight areas of my journal and pages.

I drew scribbly lines around the pages, this gives me the opportunity to add notes and memories, or in my case, happy thoughts.

I loved the splashes of red created by the wrinkle free water colouring.  In this case I thought it looked like red skies.

Turquoise is such a fresh and modern colour to use.  It really looked great on my journal.

I also made sure that I added decoration to the spines of the journal.

I also added a small amount of sparkle using a Sakura Gelly Roll pen.  I love the tiny add of sparkle here and here.

I had so much fun creating this. It amazed me at how I could use one collection of stamps and decorate a journal and pages in it's entirety.  I really hope that I have encouraged you to try this for yourself.  It makes such a lovely keepsake and was so fun to make.  I would actually love to make another but in more muted tones - I think that will work very well.  I think my next one will be to jot down my house improvement ideas.

Hi everyone, it's Carol with you today, and I'd like to share with you a Matchbox full of Trinkets. I often add little dangley bits and sticking out elements to my journal pages, as I like the way it makes my overall journal look when it's closed, so my Matchbox contains a selection of these. I have actually made this as a little gift for a friend and I will also add a few collage elements to the finished box too, because as I used a larger sized box (the one that those longer matches come in) there is plenty of room for lot of bits and pieces. Even my Dragonfly is detachable on a long bit of curly wire so it can be used to wrap a small journal.

My background was done with a gelli plate using Deli paper. Here I have used  Fresco Paint in Bubble Gum, Haystack and added detail with  China and stencil  PS015

Stencil PS015 again and Cerise Fresco Paint added. 

 Last Painty layer and this time I used a stamp from ETS09 and thinned  Eggplant Paint with Satin Glaze to make it a bit translucent.

I stamped with the smaller daisy from the same Stamp Set and then coloured it in with pencils, the pencils go over the fresco paint really smoothly.

I added stamping using ETS21, I then covered my box with the paper, and added stickles and splatters of Snowflake Fresco Paint.

I mainly used stamps from ETS21 to make all my little journal charms,but I could not resist the little House element from SIBM2 as I love the quirkiness of this image and it is one of my favourite houses.

These charms were stamped onto Acrylic shapes, painted with Fresco paints in the same colours as above and then glazed with Glossy accents.

This selection were stamped onto card , coloured with watercolour pens and then a paper clip was sandwiched between them.

My box looked quite flat and boring before I added the Dragonfly, and I do like that he can be removed to .

I found the combination of Fresco Paints and the Deli paper was really good, at the start my paper was quite thin and flimsy, but once it got the Fresco paint on it, it started to take on a thicker slightly leather feel and I felt there was no danger of it ripping as I coloured in my images, and given it I had to remove it from my matchbox once as I got in on very crooked on the first attempt, I felt there was no danger of it tearing so I will be using the combination again when printing paper to wrap things in.

Some great samples tonight using Squiggly Ink stamps, they are the perfect size for smaller pieces of art as they have such great details. The bright and fresh colour palette is perfect for these cute stamps! ~ Leandra 

Hi everyone, it's Carol with you today, and I'd like to share with you a set of Artist Trading coins I have made.
These are a great idea and are really just a different step from ATC's, little pieces of handmade art that you swap.
I find it a great inspiration when I receive some in the post and I always find myself flipping them in my hand to try and exactly suss out what techniques people have used. I also like to use them to try out an idea on a smaller scale and I love the way, as I have here, you can use a large sheet that you have done the first steps for a journal page on, cut it up and then it suddenly looks so different when in smaller pieces; how the large stamps and stencil images seem to have suddenly shrunk in size to fit the small circle, all very Gulliver's travels.

I only decided to add the distress ink after I had put the glossy accents on the house numbers and I love the way it has acted as a resist making the numbers pop a little bit on the houses.

I made a bright zingy background using Fresco Finish  paints in Mermaid, Prawn and Butter from the Seth Apter Paint Set #3 layering up the paints with stencil PS015 and Squiggly Ink stamp set Flora and Fauna 3.

It looks so different now it's all chopped up into circles. I cut it face down so I was not tempted to place any bits in a particular place.

I added in a bit more background with the text from Bricks and Morter 2 using each of my 3 paint colours to stamp with on one of my coins after this I added background bits from Flora and Fauna 3 and coloured them.

I decided to only use one house image from Squiggly Mini 18 on all 3 coins and just position it differently, so I worked out the position of this and some odd words from Bricks and Morter 2 and Ding Dong 6, messing around with them until I was happy with the position of the all.

I added lots of colouring and then blinged them up a bit with some stickles and glossy accents, It was really a case of knowing when to stop.

As I mentioned in my opening paragraph I only decided to add distress ink to my houses after I had finished them. They sat on my desk for a while with me not liking them and not knowing why and then I realised it was the bright white of the houses against the bright background. I really like how the fact that I had glossy accented the numbers on the houses acted as a resist to the ink and gave another layer to the whole thing.

These are great fun to do and as I said previously a great what to try out new techniques on a smaller scale and a great way to use all those Gelli Prints that are such fun to do but then maybe sit there with no purpose to their little made lives. I look forward to seeing all your coin creations on the challenge.
