Fresco Stamping {with signature designer Sara Naumann}

Fancy a bit of a video at the week's end? Well kick back, and watch the beautiful Sara Naumann in action. Tonight, Sara shows us the third card in the series she started showcasing all her new stamps on our mid 2014 Product Launch last week. You can see the others here if you like.

This stamp seems to make people oooh and ahhh. All the elements are so easy to work with and those hearts are totally fabulous. We'll hand over to Sara to take it from here...

 By Sara Naumann: Fresco Stamping

I love paint. I mean, I really love using paint in my paper crafts, especially with stamping. There’s just something about the effects you can achieve with paint that’s so different from stamping ink - and the variety of colors make it easy to create totally customized backgrounds.

So to say I’m getting addicted to the combination of Fresco Finish paints and Eclectica stamps is *ahem* pretty accurate, actually.

For this project, I used Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paint to create background pieces, and for stamping the heart image is the focus of the card. You’ll see the stamps print out beautifully, with all the detail captured - and yet still keep that vintage, distressed effect.

Let's get started...

1. Stamp white card with Space Cadet Fresco Finish. As this is used as a matting paper, you can simply paint around the borders and leave the center unpainted if you prefer. Dry.
{NB the color of space cadet is more true in the picture above, the matted layer, rather than this one below where it looks too grey}

2. Paint book paper lightly with Vanilla Fresco Finish, allowing some of the text to show through. Let dry.

3. Stamp the border on the left with Jet Black Archival ink; stamp the script image along the top right edge.

4. Use a Cut 'n' Dry foam to apply London Bus Fresco Finish to the heart stamp, then stamp  it onto white card. {TIP: Be generous with the paint, it not only dries fast on your stamp, being a chalk paint, but it requires a generous application. It's very forgiving, if you get too much or too little it seems to still look good anyway}. Repeat to stamp the cross-hatch design slightly overlapping the hearts.

5. Add a bit of water to the leftover London Bus and use a stipple brush to splatter watery paint onto the white space. Let dry completely.

6. Use a tissue to randomly apply embossing ink in the center of the hearts. Sprinkle with gold embossing powder, tap off the excess and heat-set until it melts.

7. Stamp “a loving heart” quote at the bottom with black ink.

8. Assemble the card by matting the heart-stamped focal on black, then adding a bow tied in gingham ribbon. Adhere to the Vanilla book paper, then mat again onto black card, and then on the Space Cadet-painted card-stock. Add a small button in each corner, then adhere to the front of the card.

I hope you enjoyed the project as much as I did! Remember, you can see a video tutorial for this project on the PaperArtsy You Tube channel, or simply click on the link below.

Thank you also to the fantastic Leandra and PaperArtsy for letting me share this project with you here!
